It's surprising, the number of people reacting only see him throw the mic stand across the stage; but miss him throwing it up into the air, like a baton and then catching it before he throws it.
One word....... Magnificent ❤️
Agreed, he sure is, Maureen! 🤩
Great reaction and appreciation of our phenomenal Aussie living legend, John Farnham! Yes he is The Voice- the Greatest voice of all Time! Please watch many more of John’s vast repertoire of hit songs from the past 6 decades.
Hi Debbie, it is my pleasure getting to know your John's music. You bet there will be more 🤗
Hi Sue. Just watched this rection. Yes. Dive deep, you will not be disappointed. Find All his songs. Love songs, like Touch of Paradise. Rock songs Long way to the Top. Ballads message and protest songs. Up tempo with a touch of jazz. And then he does country with a few musicians. He also fronted Little River Band for about 3 years. Look up his biography. Lovely family man, loves his fans, watch him react to his audience - best singer in the world. 17.10.23. UK. E❤
Hi Eileen, thank you so very much for you comment. I have reacted to a few of John's songs now and he is fantastic. I look forward to exploring more of his stuff 🤩
Look out for John’s mic and mic stand tricks such as in this. Throws the stand in the air, and catches it while singing. Just one of John’s trademarks.
Hey Beresford, thanks a bunch. I will look for it 🤩
He sung this song in the concert to celebrate the independence of Timor from Indonesia. You can imagine the joy of the people to hear this affirmation of their struggle.
Hey Gary, that must have been something for them. How emotional it must have been for them to celebrate their independence and have this song sung for them. 💜🤩
Thank you Sue for your great reaction and appreciation of our Phenomenal Aussie legend, John Farnham! Q? Have you watched his movie yet? - called 'John Farnham- Finding The Voice'.
Hi Deb, it was my complete pleasure! John is phenomenal. No, I haven't seen the movie. Where can I stream it? 🤩

Thanks so much Kevin. It was my pleasure. I will definitely do more reactions to John's music. I appreciate the Super Thanks. That was very kind 🤩❤💙
John Farnham son before Christmas gave update of his father's health
Farnesy and the family arr overwhelmed with the well wishes around the globe and the interest is his performance thanks to the likes of yourself with your reaction videos
That is so sweet! John is a wonderful man isn't he. I am so glad I discovered him and I did from people like you who told me to check him out.
Just a heads up...you are the first to know...i have another John video coming out this aft....shhh don't tell, Dave 😉😆😅 💙
@playitagainsue looking forward to seeing the video
Arr you still going to check out Cold Chisels Bow River liver performance?
@davedavis1667 Hey Dave, yea I will get to that one...just won't be for a while...my list is growing 😀💙
Great reaction to our musical king. It's a Long Way to the Top ACDC cover & Playing to Win from this same concert are great ones too. Please Don't Ask Me with Olivia Newton John from The Main Event is really good, they work beautifully together as they were friends for many years before her passing. New subscriber here :)
Hi Ozzie girl, thank you so much for your kind words and subbing. I will definitely be doing more of John's music. He is fabulous. I appreciate the suggestions. Have a great day 🤩💙
I’ve loved this song since it came out, and I still get much joy from belting it out in the car when it comes up on my playlist. Johns voice is incredible, and he’s a wonderful human being to boot.
Hey Kim, it is a perfect spng to belt out in the car! 🤩
John's a bloody ripper. We love him.
Hey Robert, he certainly is! 🤩💜
Sue, that is just the BEST song to be part of in his concerts. Every single person knows every word and sings it out so loudly that the roof feels like it may be blown off!! Such fun! His concerts are always so much fun. We love him. I have been to so many of his concerts and have never been disappointed! Never.
Hey Kathy, nice to hear from you again. It must be so powerful to be a part of his shows. I love being at concerts where everyone sings all together and is all connected....such a great feeling 😀💙
So lovely you have shared the love of John.
Thank you so much Lightening 🤩
Hi Sue
I was at this concert at Rod Lacer Arena in 1989
My 2 daughters watching your reaction to this song spotted Mr front row
Omg, that is so cool, Dave! How great that must have been to see this concert live and right at the front...unbelievable. Good on your daughters for seeing you in the front row...good 👀 on them 🥰
@@playitagainsue it's thru my daughters I found your channel

Allways live versions with JOHN.
You got it Alexandra 😊
Hey Sue .. You had your stank face on for most of this song, so you clearly loved it ! 😅.. I saw John live once in the early 90s, and he was a real showman .. Lots of energy and talking to the audience, and he left absolutely nothing on the stage by the time he finally departed after multiple encores .. You could tell he wanted to ensure everyone had as good a time as possible .. A top quality bloke too.👍
Haha yes I did have my stank face on didn't I, Wayne lol. Well John deserved it. He is quite remarkable. I am enjoying getting to know more about him. I bet that was an awesome show. From what people have said, it sounds like he is the energizer bunny and can go for hours....amazing! I love that you said he is a good guy. I think it is so great when performers are still grounded and can be decent humans. Obviously he has a good strength of character 🤩💜🧡
John & Celine Deon also did a Live duet of this in one of her Concerts here in Australia. That is awesome. Also look out for John performing Led Zep's Blckdog. It was recorded from a sound check he did so there's no Video. It is magnificent. Also while your at it, Check out John & Tom Jones doing AC/DC's It's A Long Way To The Top If You Want To Rock & Roll. He also does that with Olivia Newton - John. Not to mention His duet with Australia Opera Singing, Anthony Warlow singing Granada. Awesome.
Thanks so much Denis. I will be more than happy to check them all out. I appreciate all your suggestions 🥰
I love watching people's reactions that love John Farnhams music so much. The look on your face throughout the performance, was pure joy. Love it! 👍👍👍
Hi Leah, yes John is amazing! I am so impressed by him. This is only my 2nd song I've heard by him and I am hyped to react to more of his stuff 🤩💜
It was top 10 in the UK for John!
I feel so lucky an privileged to of seen John Farnham live in concert in 1991 absolutely brilliant 😎😎😎
Hey Lou, that must have been really special. John is exceptional 🤩
Absolutely beloved - 'Angels' live is an amazing look at him and his humour.
John is incredible! I will check Angels out. I am up for more of John's music. Thanks Mal 🤩
Fun fact: the bagpipes played a major role in the final version in that to use them, the original key that the music was written in had to be lowered to B Flat:
"To play with other instruments, bagpipes need to be set up in B Flat. Tuning to B Flat will allow you to play with organs, brass, guitar, and more."
If you can imagine it set in C, it would have less gravitas and would change the whole feel of the piece.
Hey Jennifer that is a very cool fun fact! I love that they worked around the bag pipe to play the song...amazing 🤗
G’day Sue. as I said before that you will love going down this rabbit hole of John’s lustrous career nearly 60 years worth. so many great songs and concerts that will astound you for sure. So many favourites it’s hard to pick just one song.. but the one thing that I love about John is that when he sings ballads the emotions that he makes you feel it, it truly hits you and he has the audience in the palm of his hands no one makes a noise they just listen to him sing it’s just phenomenal to watch there reaction. looking forward to more reactions from you doing John 😊🇦🇺❤️
Hi Aussiekat, nice to hear from you again. I can see what you are saying. John has had me in his hands waiting to see what he does. He us an amazing performer. I can't wait to do more of his stuff 😃
Great reaction, love seeing new people discover John!
His nickname of The Voice does come from this song (and his voice, obviously!). He was a pop idol in the 60s/70s in Australia, but then his career really lapsed in the late 70s and 80s. This song was a huge hit and is off his comeback album from 1986. It would be difficult to find any Australian who didn't know this song, even ones who were born well after it was released. He only got bigger and bigger and has been a fixture in Australian culture ever since this album (Whispering Jack).
Other suggestions for John are:
- It's A Long Way To The Top (If You Wanna Rock n' Roll) from this same concert. High energy, everyone on stage having a ball
- When Something Is Wrong With My Baby with Jimmy Barnes, I'd suggest the one from 'Hey Hey it's Saturday" (a TV show in Australia)
- Please Don't Ask Me with Olivia Newton-John from 1998
- Granada with Anthony Warlow from 1998 (this is a bit of a comedy opera piece, but definitely worth a watch)
- Gethsemane from Jesus Christ Superstar, do the 1992 Australian cast - Sydney final night version
- He was lead singer with the Little River Band for a few years in the early 80s, I personally love 'Reminiscing' with him singing, it shows a different side of him, and he's brilliant as always
- Bridge Over Troubled Water from 1979 if you're interested in seeing him when he was much younger.
There are many, many more, but these are some of m personal faves that have decent quality videos on RUclips. Enjoy!
Hey Dentarthurdent, nice to hear from you again. Thanks so much for all the suggestions. I really appreciate it. I had no idea he sang lead on reminiscing. I love that song. 🤩🧡
@@playitagainsue John took over from Glenn Shorrock in LRB for a few years so both sang , 'Reminiscing'.
JOHN'S --AGE OF REASON (brilliant), TWO STRONG HEARTS,

Almost 60 years at the top now. No one hasnt heard of him down here. He has reinvented himself several times. Was even the lead singer for the Little River Band at one stage.
No one has a bad word to say about him and for good reason. Hes just a nice person.
Hi Joe, from what everyone has written in the comments, it sounds like John is not only an amazing talent but a really great guy. I love to hear that :)

The lyrics to this song are amazing and very powerful, his voice is awesome and I'm proud to be an Aussie, he's our national treasure
Hi Esther I agree and you should be so proud. John is incredible 🤩💙
Live is always better with John, try Angels with his back up singer Lisa. Another great one is Something is wrong with my baby with Jimmy Barnes and Diesel.
Hi Debra, I will give it a listen. Thanks for the suggestion and for tuning in 🤩
@@playitagainsueI was going to suggest those 2 as well.
The duet with Jimmy Barnes will amaze you, live or canned.
Angels with loyal back up singer Lisa Edwards is very different, brilliant musically and shows his humorous / playfull side.
Also Amazing Grace with his other 2 loyal back up singers, Lindsay Field and taking the lead, Vanetta Fields...... ( an original Ikette and US legend in her own right ).
@@Rassskle hi Kent, sounds like a plan. I will check those songs out. Amazing Grace is a stunning song. I am sure that John will excell with that for sure. Thanks so much for tuning in and commenting 🤩
Aussie here. Not many people are aware that Heart did a cover of "You're The Voice". Heart come in 2nd and Robbie Williams 3rd.
I have been a fan of Heart since they hit the music seen, and the same goes for John Farnham. While Advance Australia Fair is our official National Anthem "You're The Voice" is the song that fires up Aussies.
Hey Sue, I love that! It is like your unofficial National Anthem, chosen by the people 🤩
Hi Sue, always listen to John live.
Hi Carbine, I will do my best to watch the live ones when possible 🤩
I've been in the crowd when the pipes come on in this song. It's always the biggest cheer. Everybody loves it.
Hey Jeff, I loved that part. That must be really cool to see/hear in person 😃
@@playitagainsue 5 times. It never disappointed. Always left a John Farnham concert barely able to talk for 3 days.
@@jeffwilson7100love that! That is a mark of a great show 🤩
I saw John interviewed years ago and he said that rehearsal at his home studio was his work - he was so well prepared then that he could play on stage and give his attention to the audience, his band and back-up singers. It shows how much he enjoys himself on stage and it is infectious !
Hey Bigs, I can totally see this! John is so prepared and so amazing and comfortable on stage. Incredible! 🤩
Hey Sue, this song is literally the heart beat for Australian people. ❤
One of my favourites is We’re No Angels with s stellar guitar intro by Brett Garsed. From Classic Jack Live DVD
Hi Donna, thanks for the suggestion. I don't think that one has been mentioned. I appreciate it. I will definitely do more John for you 🤩
One of his encores. 😂🎉❤
Hey Debbie, it is unbelievable to think that he sounded that amazing at the end of the concert 🤩💚
His best? Gethsemane, Jesus Christ Superstar, Sydney the final night. Get ready to be blown away.
Awesome, Dale! Thanks for that. I can't wait 🤩
A truly classic performance from a living australian legend, thanks for the reaction!
Hi Whitewingdevil, thanks so much. It was my pleasure 🤩
Hi Sue, great reaction, glad you love 'our John'. He is THE VOICE as you noted. When watching his performances (apart from always LIVE shows), keep an eye on the microphone stand, John throws it up 20ft in this video, then tosses it to the side, before walking across the stage to flip it up with his foot. Also, try to wait until the end, John interacts with the audience by saying Thankyou, Goodnight, be careful (there was a huge storm outside and people had to drive home); then acknowledges the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. Everyone who accompanies John is next level as musicians, backup singers etc. They also have such fun. You have a huge catalogue of John's songs to review, from pop, rock, ballads, country, theatre, opera and anything in between, John also throws in some comedy. A true entertainer with pipes that an angel would love. We Aussie also love him.
Hi Margaret, thanks for the pro tip. I will wait to hear the interactions 😃
John is so amazing. I am so enjoying learning more about him. I look forward to hear more from him. He sounds like a wonderful person 🤩🧡
Great review Sue. I think you’ll like Please Don’t Ask Me ( from a 1998 concert) which he sings with Olivia Newton John (RIP). They were great friends and the chemistry between them is fantastic.
Thank you Alice. I appreciate it i will check that one out 😃
Also his solo "when the war is over" is absolutely breathtaking
@@LizzieRD Thanks Lizzie, I will check it out 🤩
Ok, I hope someone sent her the opera bit of John and Anthony warlow, to react to th3n! 😂 classic piece!
I actually found the full original to this last night with the 12yr old or so, boy singing the opening intro before John comes in, which is why he has to adjust the mic stand at the beginning there. It's really cool to see again, hadn't seen it since it first aired on TV when I was about 8! 😂
Hey Caspers, oh interesting. I will have to look up another take of this performance to see if I can find the part with the boy singing too. Thanks for that 🤩
The next performance of John's you need to check out, is his duet with Olivia Newton; where the perform his song Please Don't Ask Me from The Main Event Concert, which is also backed by an orchestra. From this same concert, he does a performance of Granada with Anthony Warlow(Australia's own Phantom); this truly shows his ability to sing almost any genre, as well a his comic side. There are many other performances and duets; plus stage plays, especially his role in Jesus Christ Superstar with him singing Gethseman.
Awesome, I will check them out. Thanks James 😃
Great reaction Sue. You're the voice is like an Aussie anthem. We all know it. There is even a version of Celine Dion singing it with John. When she was coming to Australia she made it known that she was a huge John Farnham fan and would like to sing with him. During her show he came on stage and sang You're the Voice with her.😊
Hey Ms Suzi Quzi, it does sound like an anthem! I can see why you call it that. I love it when you hear about other artists showing up at others' shows. I think it is very classy when they do that 🤩
@@playitagainsue I would’ve loved to be at that show.😊

Black Dog Led Zeppelin cover this John in a soundcheck in 1994 . What other contemporary singer would warm up to a Led Zeppelin hard rocker ? They be terrified they blowout their vocals .
John is like hold my beer . John even sings Black Dog higher than the original with Robert Plant
That is amazing, Mark! You are so right, not many could or would use that as a warm up song. Just shows the power of his voice I will check it out 🤩💙
I concur with this Sue. He literally outsings Robert Plant and I love Led Zepplins version of this song. So John just uses it as a warmup and sound check and blows it apart!! There is no vision, just sound that a sound engineer recorded. It is brilliant!!! What a voice. He is The Voice.

This song is an anthem. It was composed by writers in England as a kind of penance. They intended to go to a anti-nuclear demonstration but slept in and missed it. They wrote the song instead. They did not want John to sing it because they only knew him from his early novelty song, named 'Sadie'- John's blessing and curse! John recorded it 'YTV' anyway, they heard it and all was forgiven. This song was a hit in countries around the world. John sings quite a number of songs that have a message for the greater good in the world. Another is a beautiful a cappela version of Stevie Wonder's, 'Love's In Need'. John has had books written about him and a documentary film, 'Finding The Voice' has recently been released. Always view him LIVE in concert where his Soul shines. This is what he has come here to do. He is loved in Australia.

Australian Band AC/DC were the first Rock Band in the world to introduce the Bagpipes into Rock Music. John & his Best Mate Glenn Wheatley (His Manager) had a friend Ross Fraser who produced the Album Whispering Jack which this song was on & he made a deal that if he was going to Produce the album, then Bagpipes had to appear on it. Ross is Scottish. John & Glenn weren't sure what part the Pipes would have, but Ross said, "Lad's, I'm Scottish & I'm an 'F-ing" good Producer. Leave it to me. Hahahaha.

To change the key that song was in because Bag Pipes only play one key and they liked it more. It isn’t just a concert to go and watch him live, it is amazing.
Someone a few people below has some good suggestions. You will find Granada with Anthony Warlow and Please Don’t Ask Me with Olivia Newton John at The Main Event Concert. I also love Burn For You which John and two other on tour wrote a verse of each for their wives. Basically saying we don’t want to be away either so don’t hang up the phone when you get mad. It is beautiful. I also love John’s sound check song and warmup and you won’t find that live. He used to sing Led Zeppelin’s Black Dog. Thank you.
Wow 13 genres that is amazing! He is so versatile. Honestly I would have a hard time listing 13 genres of music. He seems very personable as well. He seems to really enjoy interacting with the audience and that would make his shows even better. I loved that he incorporated a bag pipe into this song...very cool. Thanks Karen 🤩
@@playitagainsue, I couldn’t think of 13 genre’s until I saw Richard Marx list them. Kind of like Elvis. He was inducted into 23 halls and walks of fame. Before I read that I could only think of 6, I was way off.
@@karenstrong8887 Very cool, Karen. That is simply incredible! 🤩
The biggest reason the world took so long to hear of John, is that after marrying his wife Jill in 1973; he decided family comes before international exposure, this has endeared him to his Australian fans. It has only been through RUclips exposure, that the rest of the world is slowly catching up with what we have known for decades.
Hey James, I love that about him! John sounds like a really amazing guy as well as an incredible talent. Thank goodness for youtube for allowing people like me to find him and listen to his music 😊
There are literally decades to discover - and ALL gems. Can I suggest you change the pace for the next one and look at the opera one. Duet of a song called Granada with Australian opera legend Anthony Warlow. You can find it under a RUclips search of "Anthony Warlow elevates us to high art". Combines comedy with amazing vocal talent.
Cool, thanks Jeff. I will check it out. Thanks for that 😊
I think The Voice was written by 3 or 4 British songwriters. I think it may have been written as a demonstration song about Vietnam; anyway John somehow got hold of the song and recorded it. I’m sure there’s someone out there that can give you a more accurate account.
Very cool fun facts, Carbine. I could see it written for that 🤩
Actually no ,the song isn't about Vietnam at all,it might show it in the video clip, but when John was doing TV interviews he said it had not to do with war. It's about standing up to the big people who are giving you hell.
@@eggy4152 Thanks for the clarification cookie 😃
This is a national anti war anthem in Australia.
Now check out his other side with
Please Don't Ask Me
Duet with Olivier Newton Newton John Newton John
Will do, Mark. Thanks 😊

You wont find an Australian over the age of 30 who cant sing this song
I think that is so cool, Phil. This song has created a community...love that 😃
You're The Voice isn't performed properly, if it doesn't have the bagpipes in it; I was at the concert when this song first come out and it had always used the bagpipes, I've watched other performances of this song where they used a keytar instead and I didn't enjoy it.
Não sei se o seu vídeo é assim, mas para mim está aparecendo somente uma porta e o vídeo da música dividido em dois, gosto de ver o rosto das pessoas
Not sure why you are seeing it like that...hmmm. you should be able to see me
He sung this song in the concert to celebrate the independence of Timor from Indonesia. You can imagine the joy of the people to hear this affirmation of their struggle.
Wow how emotional that must have been to celebrate their independence. He is so thoughful isn't he 💜🤩
