Bummer to hear that your local trails caught on fire I had that happen to me last summer from some kids shooting fireworks by the trail system. I hope they grow back Eric.
Yeah those smoke plumes in the time lapse are crazy. Really enjoyed watching. So much so I picked up my local shovel and moved some dirt today. But, to make a level pad for my yard waste bin. I utilized your jump making techniques for my project with amazing results.
I love how all these tips you give are things I have had to learn over years of digging and building, seriously guys he knows what he’s talking about! I love your videos man keep it up!!!
Great Job! It is so much work. If you have never done any trail maintenance, go do some to see how much work that is. Next video should be the kids hitting the jumps.
Paint the shovel even throw a light spray of WD40 and make sure the cutting edge of the shovel is nice and smooth that's how I keep the dirt from sticking to the shovel. LOVE YOUR VIDEOS YOU AND THE BOY'S ARE AWESOME KEEP SHREDDING
Hey hope your trails return back to normal. I live in the sierras and we had a massive fire over the main place that I ride and that was ten years ago and there’s still a lot of damage but it’s returning to normal.
I watch you all the way from Australia and I am watching these for entertainment and for help on my own backyard build. Can you please do some more tips in ur vids
ERIC...there are these automatic misters that farmers use around here in Oklahoma and they can be set to spray certain amounts of water for any desired amount of time. I’m not sure about the name but I’m sure you could find them on amazon ... just search “automatic misting system” or “automatic water spout timer”
I've been thinking about something like that, I'd love to put in a permanent system for watering the pumptrack and jumps, but it wouldn't be cheap or easy.
Porter MTB ya Ik you guys get cold weather so you have to worry about pipes and stuff but i do believe it would be the first at home water regulated trail system ever
Even if it was just a stand with a water mister and a timer that attaches to a water hose, you could set it up on dry days and not have to stop to wet the dirt down
There is a ton of scotch thistle on your track. It's a biennial plant so cut the tap root 3 inches below the surface, dont dig em up. Once you gain control on the seed bank in your soil you wont have anymore unless you let one go to seed.
Down in Australia were i live, last year we had severe bush-fires all up the east coast (2000km of fires) and thousands of homes were lost and many people died, hopefully you guys dont have the same thing happen to you
Hey man, you doing a great job... been watching for a while and now stuck at home so the content is great !! i watch you, Seth bike hacks and Matt Jones, can you recommend anyone else who does this sort of thing ? Keep it up ! AJ : )
Thanks, I really appreciate that! Seth and Matt are both making awesome videos, and have great yards as well! I would also look up the other Seth at Backyard Trail Builds, I haven't met him yet but he's making great backyard build videos too!
I'm keeping them on BMX's for a while, kids dirt jumper bikes are really expensive, and plus BMX makes you a smoother rider in the long run. Kids DJ bikes sure are cool though, they would love to have one!
@@PorterMTB thanks for the answer :D. BMX does make you a smoother rider, btw di you think diamondback are going to release the dirt jumper any time soon?
I know, We have a great ecosystem back there with rabbits, mice, chicken, deer, etc.! The mice are getting a bit out of control though to where it's a problem, there are no neighborhood cats to naturally control the population.
I do get some cracks, but the main reason I don't is always watering when riding, and when I build them I don't pack them muddy, which is what leads to cracking.
Bummer to hear that your local trails caught on fire I had that happen to me last summer from some kids shooting fireworks by the trail system. I hope they grow back Eric.
It is a bummer. Hopefully the damage isn’t too bad!

That packing lapse is soooo satisfying!!!
I'm in Utah too, and I was wondering if you ever do fan rides, it would be sick to ride with you.
That would be sweet!
I would love to, maybe this summer!
Yes man love seeing the progression of your kids too! Who else feels me?
You give the best building tips that I actually use and it works great.
That's awesome! I try to think about how I can help out other people building jumps!
I love how all these tips you give are things I have had to learn over years of digging and building, seriously guys he knows what he’s talking about! I love your videos man keep it up!!!
Love watching these builds!
Anyone else see the smoke billowing in the background at like 2:40? Hope the fire gets put out.
Most humble youtube channel with incredible content!!!
Imagine how sick it would be to just go out on your balcony and be able to drop right into some jumps
you gotta love the chickens head popping up 7:19
That chicken is ridiculous! Haha
If we’re honest these are the best back yard trails
i agree
Matt Jones?
What about berm creek
Your kids probably have the best quarantine 🤣
I ride the same Dutch hollow trails and live in PC and I feel for you and the trails.
Hopefully the damage isn't too bad!
I love how you reply to a lot of the comments a lot of RUclipsrs don’t do that.
I try, I know it means a lot, and it's cool to see what everyone thinks, most of the time it's positive!

Nice job, sorry to hear about the fire
Casually just a massive wild fire burning in the background
I think you need a weed whacker to remove some side brush. It gives the trail a nice contour. Keep shredin'!
I'm actually waiting on some new parts for my weed whacker, you'll see it soon when the weeds get big.
Awesome Video!
Thanks!
Realy good tips eric gotta go and build my own sometime 😁

Have you ever ridden in herriman utah. They just finished there new downhill line.
So inspiring! Is the colonel a white plymoth rock?

Yeah they suck. I do need to start pulling them out, it just takes forever to get them all!
Beautiful track
Hey man big fan of ur work could u possibly tell me the radius of the wooden kickers I’m building similar jumps
7:19 that chicken head popping out 🤣 🐔
We need a garage update
Oh it’s still dialed! We’ll get back in there for some videos at some point, so nice outside though!
Are you going to do something with the waterslides?
Oh yeah, and it's gonna be good!
@@PorterMTB SICK!!!!
the chicken is my favourite part about the video
Those fire clouds looked like the jump was on fire for a minute.
They were crazy! Glad they got it under control before it got too big.

the chicken just helping back it in
What angle and radius is that first jump? I have a 12’ roll in deck at my property I just built and wondering how big to make first jump.
When was the last time the jumps were freshened up? Is this amount of work needed every spring or had it been a few years?
Usually I do a much quicker re-build, this needed to be done, it's been years!
Porter MTB glad to know you don’t have to do this level of re build every spring.
The chicken do be runnin tho at 6:09
did anyone notice the smoke in the background at 2:23?
I've been wondering what kind of bikes you have
Do you recommend a one size DJ or s,m, or l??? Thank you
Hope that the wild fires don’t cause to much damage.
Me too. Should be able to check out the trails next week.
@@PorterMTB pls post a vid about it
6:20 I also want to have a trailbuild chicken
And it makes eggs for me!
Don’t get rid of the mice, they are probably some animal’s food and part of an ecosystem in your backyard. How cool is that!? Nature is a friend
I know, We have a great ecosystem back there with rabbits, mice, chicken, deer, etc.! The mice are getting a bit out of control though to where it's a problem, there are no neighborhood cats to naturally control the population.

How do you avoid cracks in your jumps?

2:41 is that a fire
