@@BornAgainBoatingdamn that makes me sad I feel like you guys had a great vibe together and his ideas and thoughts were really good balance with yours . Hoping he returns and yall both are doing well buddy 👍🏻🤙🏻🙂
@@BornAgainBoatingtotally understand we all been there ! If ya read this Donnie hope you figure things out and do what ya love to do brotha ! He’s lucky to have had a teacher like you Aaron . Wishing you both nothing but the best and thanks for all your content !! I been working on boats 10 years myself and just turned 40 it’s def hard work but also rewarding !! I’m doing all the work on Cobia , pathfinders , hewes , Everglades now . Rigging and verifying all the boats and second stations it’s a lot of hard days and long hours but I learn new stuff all the time which is great 🙏🏻👍🏻
@@nomis53 i work at a fiberglass shop in clearwater and all the riggers do is coat the screw threads with some 5200 and screw it in. The extra 5200 rises to the surface and you wipe it with acetone so it doesn't dry on the rub rail or screw head and do the next one to save time.
Absolutely! I couldn't tell you why I didn't! lol (People get the luxury of getting to see every single thing I do, even when you do things and you're just going through the motions and forget to do things!)
What is a paint job like this cost? I have an older tri-hull fishing boat that needs about the same level of work, just curious what the investment would be getting it painted! Great series
i did this long ago. never again . very expensive and far to mich work. after that I got a aluminum boat. for lake mead and the heat. it cannot be beat
The reason for not using countersinks is that you're not installing a solid material and it can pull over the head of the screw if the rubber distorts during a rub / impact. The screws supplied with the rubrail were actually the right screw for the install.
If you spread the rub rail you can use the correct screws recommended by supplier. Thats what i do anyway.
Born again boat restoration ! Love it!
I am really liking these videos. Great work mate.
Y’all got roosters ? 😂 nice! Also where’s ole Donnie been? Missing him and yours podcast I enjoy listening while I’m at work doing boat work !
Donnie decided he didn't want to do the podcast anymore :(

About time.... nearly finished ......cnat wait to see the sea trials..
I subscribed and have loved the journey over the years, very interesting and educational videos for sure. Keep up the great service to us all.
Thank you!
the small things that save your sanity.... thank you
That boat went from ROUGH to looking really clean!
Thank you
Looks awesome! Thanks for the video
Why didn't you have the rub rail go over the back of the transom and use the end caps at the outboard mounting area
Great series.
First screw is a truss head...
What would you recommend for a aluminum boat?
Love this series!
Thank you
Your boat looks amazing.
Thank you!
That's looking good!
Thank you!
Looks great for now! But I don't what vinyl makers say, it always shrinks.
Nice job.
Another great video! Just curious - Can you seal each hole as you drill them to avoid having to remove the rub rail and then re-installing it?
Just apply it to the screw before you install it. IMO. Then again I don't do this everyday.

I've fought everyone I've done. Nice tip.

you can't just go screw by screw with the sealant?
Yes you can
I don’t think you mentioned what sealant you used. Was it LifeCaulk?
Yes

U need to do more maintenance video men dosnt matter same thing but difference brand just do it we are boat guy
😃👍👏👏👏
yeeee
$10 boat now worth $100 lol
This method allows one to relax into laying the rail. Way less screw ups and fewer lumps. I set up a come-along to do the stretching.
