Not gonna lie, this is my favorite battle (not theme) in the entire series. You fight a dark version of yourself. He's not one of those fights where he's somehow stronger you, despite being the same thing. No, he's got the same health as you, same customs, same move and attack pattern and can use every battlechip you've ever used. He's literally a Megaman controlled by an AI.
@@shidfard5363 I love how this game unintentionally showed that by showing you how many dark chips you can get by doing side quest. I felt terrible when I resorted to use them and how everyone had them. Duo was right. There is evil
late as fuck response, but anyways, it's prolly because BN4 has a different composer from the other Battle Network games. BN1 and 5 were by Akari Kaida and BN2, 3, and 6 were done by Yoshino Aoki, and the two of them had already collaborated together on games like Breath of Fire 3 so they probably understood each other's style. I honestly forgot the name of the guy who did BN4, but iirc, unlike Kaida and Aoki who really only did BN and Starforce, he was already a veteran composer for older Mega Man games like 7 and X4.
Toshihiko Horiyama is the composer for this game IIRC; and like you said, I think this was the only time he ever composed for the BN series, so naturally the composing style of this game would be different from the rest since most of the main BN games were done by only two composers, and people were already getting used to their respective composition style lol Also shoutouts to Yusuke Beppu (MMBCC composer) and the SuperSweep team of composers (who composed for MMNT; consists of Yousuke Yasui, Shinji Hosoe and Ayako Saso, two names which may be familiar to people who are really into VGM) for also being different composers to Kaida and Aoki lol

@@TheBanishedWind You could argue that MegaMan saw himself in every single boss that he fought in that game (ex: 6 Navis made up his soul unison, other Navis had memorable events, NormNavis/HeelNavis fought and used Battlechips (first and only game where they were in battle) similarly to MegaMan, ShadeMan was a part of the Darkside, someone trying to awaken MegaMan's DarkSoul, LaserMan used MegaMan's DarkSoul against him, MegaMan DS was his DarkSoul). So every time he fought, he was technically fighting against a part of himself (DarkSoul included, even when he was fighting others, as it was his battle experience that made his DarkSoul what it was).
The best boss theme in the series, shame it wasn't used very much unless you count the omega boss encounters in playthroughs 3+ The soundtrack and the composer's choice of instruments was a step above the rest of the series too, even if the game itself isn't.
Omega bosses can be found right after their fixed battle, though. I've been hunting all the ones that appeared on Normal mode (playthrough 1) while being Dark Mega, and I found Shademan, Gutsman and Roll Omega before going Dark.
