- Опубликовано: 25 апр 2020
- Most people would correctly guess that the A380 is the widest passenger aircraft currently flying (it is also the heaviest, but not the longest). But what about the others? It can be hard to tell! We take a quick look in this article at the five widest passenger aircraft ever built.

The L-ten-eleven is probably my favourite non-Concorde aircraft that doesn’t really fly anymore. It was so far ahead of its time that it even bought its own tombstone.
Everybody knows it's better to be wide than long
thicc.
Ya mean thiccer not wider
why be slicc, when you can be T H I C C
Well, isn’t it best to be wide and long? 748? 773, 346?

"Ahh yes, the Lockheed One Oh One One... a great plane just like the Boeing Seven Hundred and Forty Seven."
One time I heard a flight attendant say "Airbus three hundred thirty" in an announcement
@@benhuang2773 Disgusting
I’ve noticed they don’t know how to pronounce Embraer or Bombardier either.
Embruh
Actually your argument should be 70 4 7, not seven hundred forty seven
That moment when Airbus made a plane with Xtra Wide Body title but not wider compared to a Soviet jet made in the 70s
Hahaha A350
actually the a350 should be on the list cause the cabin is 6.09m

Just like the band El Ten Eleven
lol i thought the exact same thing when he said L one zero one one.
L ten eleven haha
@@SimpleFlyingNews please pronounce it right say it with me Lockheed L ten eleven, again Lockheed L ten eleven.
@@deltaboy767 He got it, chill 😂
the A380 is my favourite plane to fly on. If you sit near the wings, you sometimes don't even notice that it's taking off. Just one heck of a plane. I'm going to miss it.

It's my dream to fly on one. Sadly with what's going on I might never have a chance :(
@@pawelodziomek4908 probably not now, yes off course some a380s are retired but airlines like emirates are planing to hold on to their a380s longer than expected.
Are they going out of operations?
doesn't take long in 2020 for aircraft videos to go out of date. April 20, "British Airways operates the largest fleet" and " the older ones being retired" . August 2020. BA has retired all its 747 as have most airlines

Great video
737: Thinbody
777: Widebody
A380: Thiccbody
And the narrowest widebody prize goes to....: 767! at 5.03m
The fuselage looks weird
You might notice the upper half is bigger than the lower half unlike the 777 or a330 where it's almost a perfect circle
Nice video!

Simple Flying You're welcome!
Very surprised to see the L1011 making the cut at no.5. Even less surprised to see DC10 missing the cut by just a hairbreadth.
Simple Flying: with data as recorded by wikipedia
Me: ok. bye.
Also me: secretly looks at wikipedia
I just don’t see why a major website like SimpleFlying would have to rely on Wikipedia for their data. Surely you have the manpower to gather data from the official sources.

Why do you shit on them on every video?

Get out of here with Lockheed "one zero one one". No thank you, sir.
He never said “one ZERO one one”. If you want to be pedantic with how others speak, at the very least quote them properly. This is peak irony right there.

I wonder when 3 aisles will come into play
I love the Tri-Star, it’s like the Trislanders big brother 😁
Not possible. The L1011 is quiet and the trislander is the most efficient avgas to noise conversion system ever made.
Great.. Would love to see series on fuselage length and range...

@@SimpleFlyingNews Thanks... Will check 👍
I was expecting the DC-10 and/or L-1011 to be on the list. I wasn't disappointed. Those puppies were *wide*.

I wouldn't say originally only quad jets, while the first was a quad, the 2nd and 3rd were tri jets, DC 10 and L1011
2:08 What airline is that behind the 747it looks like a qantas and Cathay pacific lyvery.
A cathay dragon a330

Cathay Dragon
Cant wait to fly on A380
Your best bet is on Emerites
Narrator: the Lockheed L ONE OH ONE ONE TriStar
Every avgeek: the. WHAT?
Also, the A350 at 5.96 m is in same basket as the 3 engine planes L-1011, DC10, MD11.
Trijets MD-11, DC-10 and L1011 will always be the most gorgeous aircraft!
They are my favorite!

@@noiceaviation5007 Eh...
Nice video. But for Pete's sake please call the L-1011 the "el ten eleven". No idea where the one oh one one came from.
So if you had a plane with a single central row of seats and 2 aisles either side it would be a widebody?

This video should be renamed to "what are the thiccest thiccbody passenger planes?"
What's this "thicc-" thing all over this thread? Some geek thing?
" L - one oh one one" said no one ever. L ten eleven!
The A350 XWB is also 5.97M. An oversight
that’s it’s exterior width
Wait r we talking abt external width or cabin width
And the A350 dares to call itself XWB
Me:
Simple: Binary Code
Everyone: ELL TEN ELEVEN.
There should be a plane that has 14+ seats per row, in a 4-6-4 seat configuration. Or with a triple aisle in a 3-4-4-3 seat configuration. Just make the B767 body wider.
docono molo IIRC regulations say passengers should only have to climb over two other seats to reach an aisle, so 3-6-3 might be the widest possible twin aisle config, if there were a plane wide enough to fit it.
Is anyone else getting Kelly Ripa trying to sell you vitamins no matter what video you watch?
I'm pleased to see the L1011 at the end (spoiler! well not spoilers). I wish I knew if I was ever on that kind of plane. It might have happened with TWA but I would have been too young to possibly know and my parents were not planespotters. As my dad is digitizing his old slides, I'll keep an eye out!
Always great when a video uses only Wikipedia as their source
The band El Ten Eleven named themselves after the Lockheed trijet. However, their debut album erroneously shows the profile of a Boeing 727 trijet.
Only 1 Lockheed l-1011 in service, sad
Blended Wing Aircraft: "Observe"
I thought the 747 first flew in 1969. Not 1970.
& launched in 1966......
Airbus should have developed the A38p keeping in mind the The Carho freighter market too. Then at least cargo operators would be interested In them.
you forgot to play song for denise
By the way, all Boeing narrowbodys (not MD one then) share the same cross section.
Which means that the B737 and B757 cannot use LD3-45 containers. Whilst the A320 series can.
You forgot the DC 10 and the MD 11.
Exactly
There was a lockheed plane too right
👍👍👍
ATR 42 oh yeah
Everyone complaining about the way he said 1011 are the same type of people who would correct "fifteen hundred" with "ACKTCHUALLY, IT'S ONE THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED". Yall have no lives.
Wide-body jets are faster than narrow-body jets. They also fly higher in case you didn’t know! Wide-body Jets are amazing!
I thought the a350XWB had a wider than normal body width but it's not even in top 5
So basically this video is about the thicccest of the thiccccccccc, planes

No airbus 340 600?
0:51-0:54 "Of course, the widest aircraft is the A380"

LoL McDonald Douglas should have sue'd Airbus as soon as the A380 was announced for copyright infringement. Pretty much Airbus just coppied McDonald Douglas homework over there shoulder and called it "our own wide bodied aircraft".
@@R95Q can't get sued by a company that doesn't exist anymore

The A380 as cool as it is ,, is a waist and just too big and it seems the 747 is also just too big. Making a giant airplane is something that most manufacturers can do but to make it practical is the hardest part.
What No McDonalds McDouglas? Lol
Shortest Narrow bodies
What if they made a narrow body that was just one seat with an aisle
So basically a private jet.

Where is Airbus 340 600?
Why start with the largest?
Where is the Airbus A330-300 ?
"Originally only quad jets"
Eeh.. well. The first year. Then came The tri jets a year later. And a few years later The A300.
Really the 747 was The only quad jet wide boddy of the first decade
Aeroflot was the *Soviet* airline, not just Russian.
