Dude. We are not worthy. I know this is a new post but some of us (old dogs learning new tricks) are in catch-up mode. I have literally been scouring the net for the last two weeks trying to get these bloody displays working. Obviously, I have not been successful. I have tried any number of libraries, but the pin-out on my shield didn't match anything that I could find or watch. After using the libraries you mention it is working perfectly. Many, many thanks to you my man.

I can get the code to work on my 3.5" but only shades of blue. Any thoughts?

I use 3.97' and arduino MEGA...please help me
I'm not aware of an 3.97' Model of the Display. If it has a different pinlayout it won't fit.
Usally the lower right Pin (view from top) should start at arduinos analog in A5

The screen shows the images, but there is a right and left margin where a part of the image disappears. That is, the pixels in the range 0 - 320, only the screen shows the pixels in the range 20 - 300.
This happens in all demonstration exercises
Huh never had that problem. Are you sure the library you are using supports your display properly?
I have an 3.5" MCUFriend tft touch screen. I run the same program as the video (I am not sure which controller the lcd has, 9488 or 9481), but touch functionality doesn't work. Any suggestions?
You need to know which controller the display has in order to use the correct librarys. Also: Did you use it on an Arduino Due? On that one the touchscreen wont work.
If i upload the diagnose_TFT_support, the display draws a rectangle with the background colour changing and displaying the following "ID=0x9481-PORTRAIT-320x480-BLUE", so i think the controller is 9481? right? I am testing in an Arduino Uno.
that it displays text is a good sign. the touchscreen usaly connects via A1-A4, but without the display on my hands to test i can't be much of a help.

For an Arduino controlled LCD that is actually pretty fast. But yeah, that's a realtime video.
