2005 nba live you actually controlled what your player did. Why 2k hasn’t done something like this is beyond me. Make some button combinations and don’t tell anyone what they are. Make the player have to figure it out. Then add new and different ones every year so it’s not repetitive.
Still got this on the of Xbox. Usually before I crash when I just want a quick 15 mins of fun and nostalgia this game still holds up. Live 03-05 was just a great era from EA Sports

*Live 19 is the best basketball game ive ever played. theres always going to be a level of scripting when it comes to basketball games.....but some of the things that occur during the action of that game look so realistic and feel so natural.....if you adjust the sliders just right, it is the perfect basketball experience.*

EA cares about nothing but money at this point. And honestly I really can’t say that I blame them for being all about the money looking at how much they rake in each year from MUT, Superstar KO & The Yard annually. The EA from the early to mid 00’s is dead & gone
Soundtrack, menu presentation, depth in dynasty mode, and all star weekend. Gameplay itself was worse than ESPN 2k5 at the time but everything else was amazing.
The dribbling in this game is better than in 2k to me. I feel like I had better control in Live 05 more than in 2k. I feel like the player is kind of floating in 2k and I can't handle the rock like in Live 05. Don't know if anyone feels the same
This and NBA Live 10 were the two best Lives since the late 90s. 2004 was an incredible year for sports games, in general, the last year that I remember every major sport having a good game in the same year. That was Madden's best game, NFL 2K5, and MVP Baseball the last EA pro baseball game ever made. I really think 2K can use some competition just like Madden. I would really love for EA or some other company to make a new basketball game and go all in with it. I really think basketball fans will play it if it's great.
I still cant figure out freestyle control. Inside out move only goes one direction like crossover to the right and all moves generally perform on the right.
The reason I didn't like this one is those players just look too small. It looks like a little league game. Compare it to Live 2004, I think you'll see the difference.
This and nba 2k5 were classics basketball games I wish 2k would adopt that nba 2005 all star weekend especially the dunk contest live had the dunk contest perfect
I don’t quite understand why this game is considered “great”. I guess it’s all relative, and if we’re simply talking modes and fun factor, I’d agree that it was great.
