Those of us at Next Level Games were working on NBA Inside Drive 2005 before the series was officially canceled. We had created a shot meter not too dissimilar to what is in the 2K series today. We saw a chance to create more skill based gameplay and also had contextual steals as well resulting in those showtime uncontested dunks.

I would play 02-03 inside drive every day after school and at my buddy's place we would battle it out. Such a fun game and time.

Bro we was spoiled in 90s and 2000s we had so many different games. We had so many different NBA games and NHL and MLB games to choose from. We had so many different racing games to choose from. We had so many different fighting games to choose from remember when it uses to be a lot of different fighting games to choose from? Have a lot of different story mode and RPG and adventure games and funny games. We had a lot of horror games and games that push the envelope like manhunter. True crime LA a lot of those type of games Scarface the World is yours Mafia godfather etc I will say that currently probably the biggest genre of games that you have out today is FPS there is a lot of first person shooting games now, but we also uses to have a lot of first person shooting games back in the late '90s and 2000s also.

Loved ID04. That's the roots of current 2k basically with Mike Yang at the helm (Drive cam in 2k now derives from inside drive) . Great soundtrack (musiq-stopplayin a classic), Kevin Calabro announcing and really good simbasketball. Pretty much the best reason to own an OG Xbox at the time.

I’d say the rising costs just to get licensing, along with the focus of online gaming (ultimate team modes) plus it seemed the people creating them were fans of what they were making Now it seems most just have technical skills but no clue or care how the end product turns out Since they get their money upfront long as it releases on time

I loved the inside drive series. That was the 1st game I bought on the OG Xbox played the MJ wizards starting with Inside Drive 2002. I really enjoyed it.

The whole XSN lineup had huge potential. I was pissed it was abandoned. Should do an episode on the entire XSN library. Inside Pitch was good and NHL Rivals had the biggest upside imo. 1 try at NHL and it was damn good i thought.
I miss this game man, the player movement and everything just felt so good. I really think if they had continued they would’ve easily overtaken live and would’ve made 2k sweat

my best friend had an xbox and ID04, i spent hours playing it every time i stayed over as a kid. id go into practice and just dunk over and over to see the animations. its part of the reason i fell in love with 2k in 05
You missed the best part of the game! The created player that you could take through the franchise to improve! It was the first “my career” mode. I dumped a lot of time into this game because of that. I had both 2003 and 2004.
Not only separate button for lob pass and the ability to do touch passes, it also had a pressure sensitive pass mechanic for advanced players that you can turn on. Basically, a tap will be a quick chest pass and a hold will be lob pass. This meant when you use the passing icon to pass you could have this kind of pass control to which ever player you are passing to with the pass icon. Also it was the first game to implement a button to draw a charge. In addition it also had a pressure sensitive steal mechanic, a tap is a poke not as effective but less likely to draw a foul, a hold is a swipe that is more effective but more likely to draw a foul. This meant you had more freedom with the swipe steal with players that had a high steal statistic. With players with a low steal statistic you should use the poke because if the player is not good at stealing the swipe steal will draw a foul more likely. At the time this game was ahead of its competition in the gameplay department.
Do NBA 07 next! (Made by San Diego Studios) It was a dope alternative to live and 2K at the time, I would always do fantasy drafts for whole league in franchise mode in try to rebuild teams

All the XSN Series, but also the PGR games, all of the old Age of Empires, Crimsom Skies series and old Microsoft Flight Simulator (specially the WW II Flight Simulator), their Golf series (the ones that came with Windows Me), their Nascar, and a really large etc! Microsoft really need to bring back a lot of exclusives, maybe must! That would be a great step aside from their competitors. I had this game back in the day it was high quality, would be cool to see it still be made today
