If NetherRealm Studios developed a Blitz game, they could throw MK characters into it with customizable costume designs and grant each individual team player their own special abilities. I imagine running down a field and using Scorpion's spear on a running player with him saying his line, "Get over here!" and pulling the player back to knock them down. Also, they could design stadiums based on the MK universe. I wonder how fatalities would be integrated here.
Tip for this game: You can become unstoppable against the pass. Stopping the run is a whole other matter, but stopping the pass is easy. Since the game has no penalties you can't be called for pass interference, so use it to take out the intended receiver while the ball is in the air. Also, here's a fun bit of BTL trivia: The Philadelphia Brawlers from Blitz: The League 2 are the player team from Blitz: The League 1.

I have been waiting so long for this video. Theoretically, WB Games could revive the Blitz license, since they acquired all of Midway’s IPs when they went bankrupt. Unfortunately, the only one they care about is Mortal Kombat. They’re hoarding this and many other game franchises for no good reason.
Blitz 1 & 2 were my shit back in Middle School/High School, my players never got hurt during the campaign cuz the gameplay is pretty easy to master, I still have my copies for the XBOX 360
This game proves you don't need an NFL license to have a fun game, If your gonna have a made up league and players, a half decent storyline can fix that, sad that not many developers tried to replicate this
I also, loved the Celebrations. This came out at a time when the nfl made players Tone down their over the top ; borderline offensive celebrations. Midway capitalized on this in a major way !
I love both Blitz games, I find the campaigns to be fun enough I replay them here and there. I love the detail put into the stories of captains of teams and the rivalries.
My favorite football game ever. No Madden game has been as much fun as this game. I will never forget my best friend, my brother and I playing the story together. One played offense, one played defense, and one played special teams. After every game, we switched. 😁 Good memories.
Playmakers was so ahead of it’s time. Really wish it would have gotten picked up by another network. It was really a miracle they even had one season on ESPN considering their relationship with the NFL.
I've had a riot playing through Blitz: The League II, although I've never been a fan of American Football. I love how Midway made their own lore and parodies of NFL players. I should go get the first Blitz: The League.
Its been a year, but just a heads up, Blitz 1 is not nearly as good as Blitz 2. Blitz 1 you have to deal with one of the most atrocious rubber-banding AIs ever, pretty much have to rely on a min-maxing, cheese, and winning bets just to advance the game as money is MUCH harder to come by in Blitz 1 than in Blitz 2.
Mutant Football League is likely the closest thing we've gotten to Blitz: The League in recent years. Really, the only things it's missing are the story/campaign mode from Blitz & team creation, but they do a great job of creating parodies of NFL teams.
wow I played Blitz 1 and 2 as a kid with my cousin, so happy to see a RUclips video made about the game. honestly two of my favourite sports games of all time.
One of My favorite series ! I love how cinematic it was. I fell in love with the cutscenes as much as I enjoyed the game play. So many moves, celebrations, in game quests, and so much more. I loved this game and still play it to this day (and Blitz Pro). I was an immature teenager when this came out so it was right up my alley. As someone who grew up on the NFL Blitz games, this version (and the sequel) is like the true Blitz engine in its final form and it is still so much fun and holds up well.
I loved Blitz League 2. Playing with Franchise. Was a RB and a safety. Loved that story. Man went to prison and played ball in prison lol. It was like The Longest Yard and Mike Vick wrapped up in one lol.
If someone were to make another game like this, that was solid. I genuinely think with how many people are looking for an alternative football game it would blow up.
Try Mutant Football League out. Gameplay wise it's a similar 8-on-8 football, but instead of brutal, gruesome injuries, you can pretty much kill the opposing players until they don't have enough players to continue, plus there's death traps all over the field & each stadium has unique sets of traps.
Blitz the fricken league! Still love it. Hardcore and over the top, a midway specialty. Always made me feel like i was playing in the league from "Any given sunday". I was just waiting for al pacino to start talkin' about fingernails and fighting for inches at halftime
Mutant League Football was before this, on the Genesis. Mutant Football League is a remake of that game. Those games are fun, but nowhere near as fun as Blitz: The League I & II.
NFL seems like such a big baby. You pay men to rough each other up like diet gladiators but, no we cannot speak about it or portray it in any honest, damaging light.
The two Blitz games have to be my favorite football games ever. And yes I have played the PS2's Maddens. There's just something about this game that's so repayable and Midway did a great job depicting there own league. I know most, if not all of the lore to the league threw the trivia "this day in history" panels that appear while the game loads, and the Blitz fandom page. Not everything is perfect about these games, but it's different and portrays a dark twist to the usual sports game, combine that with incredibly fun campaigns (I prefer the 1st games campaign to be honest) and the insane over-the-top game play. You got yourself a gem. Like most of your videos this one was fantastic, thank you for all your hardwork for the past 2-3 years.
This is still one of my favorite sports games of all time. It was so ridiculous and unique that it stood out above any NFL game EA made. It's a shame that no other videos game company is willing to make a football game like this.

This matters because my buddy and I play APK 2k8 a few times a week and He Is Legend happens to be one of our favorite bands! It's crazy how the universe works! Nothing is more infuriating than the fact that it was so clear with the direction they were going with Blitz: The League 2, that Blitz: The League 3 if it was ever made would have finally been a truly good game. Such a shame, I sank 100's of hours into it even as an adult, which is a rarity for me.
To be perfectly honest, Blitz the league 2 had an interesting concept with it's campaign mode and had the right difficulty to made you get better without pissing you off all the time. Would love to see a Blitz the league 3 in the making

Dude yes!!!!! I am getting The League 2 tomorrow! After watching your video on APF 2k8 (again) and seeing League 2 mentioned, I had to check it out. I looked up some videos and the first one I clicked on had a song I recognized so I looked up the OST... Dude it has He Is Legend "Attack of the Dungeon Witch". This matters because my buddy and I play APK 2k8 a few times a week and He Is Legend happens to be one of our favorite bands! It's crazy how the universe works! Can't wait to play some Blitz the League 2!
The season mode in this game is surprisingly amazing. The story has a lot of charm.
Nothing is more infuriating than the fact that it was so clear with the direction they were going with Blitz: The League 2, that Blitz: The League 3 if it was ever made would have finally been a truly good game.
Such a shame, I sank 100's of hours into it even as an adult, which is a rarity for me.
I owned both games. Please cover Blitz the League II. I miss it so much. Also own Playmakers on DVD.
Ed Boon should release a new Blitz, as Mortal Kombat Football and the characters and teams as MK.
To be perfectly honest, Blitz the league 2 had an interesting concept with it's campaign mode and had the right difficulty to made you get better without pissing you off all the time. Would love to see a Blitz the league 3 in the making
Blitz the league is great the injuries were so gruesome
Blitz the league was the shit my little inner kid came out when he was talking about juicing and the story line clips in the back. Amazing video we need blitz back
Your question at the beginning of this video was an eye opener. It really made me think
Man I remember NFL blitz 2000, I literally was undefeated in that game. I played literally almost everybody in my school an smashed everybody. I would give anything for that game right now. Straight classic
Yes a football game that I really wanted you to talk about and review on
Not the expert showed me this game lol
Between the Cowboys dig and having Manziel get his brain re-aligned, I already love this.
Yes, I'm aware that a Manziel brain schism could be the juice that turns him into a quarterback in a fictional world, but I'm still loving this.
Great video man! Love these games so much the story mode in blitz the leauge 2 is sick
This is a awesome video but when can I get recognized for my comments it never happens
This is the first comment of yours I’ve seen tbh
@@SOFTDRINKTV thanks man I have seen news about axis football 23 new gameplay coming
Also make a FIFA video
Dude! Thank you for this!!
Blitz the league will 4ever be the best sport game I ever played
The sequel is my favorite football game of all time. Sad that we'll never get a third one but it's a blast to play. Just be ready to shell out roughly the price it came out for in 2008 if you want obtain a copy
I wonder if Joe Theisman likes to play defense in this game
I'm videos in on your channel and I can already tell that you make good content. Research, editing, clarity all of it great.
Blitz needs to be continued as a series and become a regular alternative to Madden
Playmakers was such an amazing show. The whole thing is on YT, I highly recommend watching.
Still play this on my PS2 to this day. Great game
How? Mine took literally 15 minutes to get to a game. The loading times were outright obscene.
@@girhen I guess I should have specified. I meant like the gameplay was fun lol. And I think we’re just spoiled with load times these days lol
@@JacobKaplan95 I loved the gameplay, too. But no, it's not spoiled to notice load times that are literally 10 times longer than any other game from the same console. The freaking menu froze for long periods of time. Only game I had like that.
the injuries are real. football players are always getting injured often. very cool that Blitz captured this aspect of the game.
Come on guys let’s get a petition going and bring at least a remastered version of the original back
Can’t wait til you review blitz the league 2 that was even better. I wish they did a 3rd one
I played both Blitz and Blitz two were absolutely great but I loved the first one and played it way more then madden if i wanted to compete against friends it was ncaa if i wanted to have fun by myself I'd play blitz.
I stopped watching the NFL years ago, and you pointing out that they took concussions out of Madden at their request just reminded my why.
Blitz the league 2 is literally my all time fav game. Bought a ps3 in 2022 just to buy that game and play it again haha 😂
OMG I BEEN TRYNA REMEMBER WHAT THIS GAME WAS FOR SO LONG. THANK YOU SD
Midway and Blitz Developers exposed just how petty the couple EA and NFL actually are to take away fun games in the past and locked them away in the shadow realm. 😒.
i miss this so much as well with NBA Street and NFL street
You can take a player out of jail and create the Dallas cowboys lmaooo😂
I had that game on ps2 it was a classic as a kid
I always said Blitz the League was what the original XFL should have been.
And Playmakers was grossly underrated.
I love this and introduced blitz the league to my cousin and his friends who just graduated high school. They didn’t know about the game and it was a pleasure watching them play like I did back in the day. Now just gotta get blitz 2 on PS3 soon
Blitz the league was a cool game. I used to play it all the time. It was unique, hard hitting and creative!!
i owned a blitz arcade cabinet back in the day, NFl blitz and NBA jam made sports more than sports. it did sports video games right and made it like insanely over the top but in a good way and super fun!
Soft drink is somebody that I can relate to a lot
I swear I committed so much time to the second one. My friends and I would all beat the main campaign, just so we could vs each other with our campaign teams. A great time.
I recently started playing this game after seeing this review video for it and I'm loving it so far.
I'm digging the vulgar language and soundtrack.
Its dirty, its gritty, it feels in a way like XFL 1.0 with WWE Attitude Era style combined! 😈
Best part you got LT. C'mon what else do you need.
If your looking for a Mortal Kombat style mixed with some GTA for football your gonna love this game.
Thanks for making this video SOFTDRINKTV . 😃
I know this is a gaming channel but you should do a Retrospect on Playmakers.
I have had NFL Blitz 2000, 2001, and Blitz Pro. I enjoyed all those games(especially Blitz 2000). I wish I had gotten Blitz the League. It looks like it would have been fun to play.
Script was so good in this one. "You can look at players straight out of jail and basically build the Cowboys" 😂
This was a good game. I had so much fun playing it, especially since I was a fan of the original NFL Blitz games.
Also this game was unforgiving. My rookie player got injured the first game of the story and was out for the whole season lol.
“You can take players strait from jail and basically make the Dallas cowboys”
Omg that is fucking hilarious
I met Omar Gooding, one of the stars of “playmakers” first thing I did was give him props for his acting in that show he was amazed that I had seen and remembered it
