As a mygm player, i still believe 2k8 and college hoops 2k8 were the best. You could upload your draft class frome college hoops to nba. You cant beat that. Dom, you gotta review college hoops 2k8.
The Greek Freak not like that I swear it look he was in the matrix or something all the other dunks were fine but if you played it you know which animation I'm talking about
It was actually the first game were you could play as mj on a bulls team. He was never in any of the old nba live games or nba jam games when he was on the bulls. He was in the nba live game on the wizards and nba street, but still. This always pissed me off and remebering my woes as a child playing nba live 97 with #23 "roster player" kinda kept me from enjoying 2k11.
The nostalgia flooded as soon as symphonies by dan black and kid cudi soundtrack played. I remember getting destroyed by my older cousin all the time and then practicing all the time to beat him the next time lol.
yes bro!!! this song and warriors by ron artest (metta world peace) will always bring back dope memories. my cuz used to destroy me to with the bulls because kyle korver had truly limitless range
NOTHING frustrated me with 2k11. MJ mode, MyCareer, and Soundtrack are 10/10. I had the most fun with 2k11 and that's the last 2k I've ever truly loved.
Same. I’ve enjoyed others, but this game made me fall in love with the game of basketball as a 11 year old kid who at that point only ever watched power rangers and wrestling.
Greatest 2k ever in my eyes. Was only 10-11 at the time and was my 1st 2k. Crew, myplayer, blacktop it had its flaws with the servers and cheesy players (hacks) but it’s still the goat, shame a lot of people never got to play it. It definitely took a little more skill to play then other 2ks
Same exact experience man. Never was into sports before 2k11. Like you I was usually the same age or a year behind as the title number, so 10-11. I learned most of the players names and how they played simply by going over the rosters over and over and over again. I didn’t even really start watching games until a year or so after but by then I knew every player and how they played.
I was twelve in 2011, but my first 2K was 2K12. I just barely missed being able to play what many consider the best 2K of all time. Regardless, I loved 2K12 and 2K13. Some of my favorite moments in gaming came from those games. I’ll always have fond memories of making players with ridiculous attributes with my brother and playing with them in roster mode and play now.
Another great “feature” that was added in 2K11 was contested left and right jumpers. I remember that specifically because it’s a detail I was surprised by I was younger. Realistically, NBA players do NOT shoot their exact standing jumper every single time, they nearly fade on almost all of their shots, even if lightly contested. In 2K11 I remember lebrons contested jumper going left was a completely different form from his contested jumper going right and it made COMPLETE SENSE because it’s just like that in real life. Great video btw EDIT: and for those who may be wondering, it wasn’t hard to hit contested jumpers back in 2K11 because NBA players don’t get wide open shots like they do in 2K18
@@hanschristiandelacruz6433 men I'm your fellow countrymen but please..... just respect greatness. Not even a LeBron fan, more of a hater because of his player personality but just enjoy watching him
Same. Except before 2k11 I hadn’t even liked sports. This game made me fall in love with basketball. I played this game so much that summer, I ended up playing 2k10 just cause I couldn’t get enough. I’ve been in a basketball rabbit whole ever since.
They took out crew mode and my player/pickup games after 2k11. Those alone make 2k11 the best of all of them but then add in how the game played and the soundtrack and it’s still the best to this day to me
Snoop had songs in 2k11 and NBA Live 10. Also in earlier Lives like 03 in their theme song. I've been playing the older lives. I wish the player progression was better
I had 2K11 on the Wii and it was one of the best ports the Wii ever had. Had about 90% of the features with good gameplay just with weaker graphics, obviously. Spent hundreds of hours on it. Easily my favorite 2K of all time.
I’d do anything to go back to 2011 to b a kid again. Used to b up all night on ps3 playing my career till 4 am on a school night. This game was perfect from the soundtrack the gameplay everything.
Man , I'm playing nba 2k11 for the first time (quarantine tmies) and the game is blowing my mind . I'm having problems with controls but just need time to practice. I've been watching your videos for thousands time and decide finally to try this and 2k13 . Great videos. greetings from Germany
I had it on my console and PSP. My pops hated it cause I ended up logging hours of gameplay on family trips and stayed in the hotel cause I couldn’t get off.
God I remember the days of being in 7th grade and completing my homework just so I could play 2k11. The amount of time I spent playing this was amazing, I never owned another last gen version of the game till 2k14 because of how fun and replayable this game was.
Man, I remember the first time I played this game on PC. I accidentally took a halfcourt shot with MJ.................AND MADE IT! I'll never forget that. This game was good at the time.
Your MyPlayer was somewhere a 60 overall starting but your player could actually get some speed and hit wide open shots. The current game at 60 ovr you just feel so handicapped.
You actually start lower like in the low 40s. I have a 45 ovr player that could beat the hell out of any of my 70s in this year's 2k so I know what you mean
By the looks of it, the current NBA 2k games are capitalizing on microtransactions, hence, why they made everything tough and very frustrating, to the point that the gamers would throw in cash just to see their own player progress a bit. From what I've heard, 3s and layups are definitely tougher to time and execute in the current 2k. Players like Steph Curry shouldn't have a hard time making his shots. If the argument against this is that - "Hurr, durr, everyone has an off night. Even Curry wouldn't makes his 3s all the time." - Well, news flash, he also doesn't miss OFTEN in real life (after an off night, he comes back guns blazing on the next game), so gamers shouldn't be having a tough time making 3s with him in-game ALL THE TIME. The 2k microtransaction fiasco has been very obvious since the beginning, heck, they focus more on milking cash out of gamers than making a sensible, non-cringy My Career (B Fresh, anyone?). I hope they do change their ways, it may be too much to ask at this point, but seriously, if they don't straighten up, they may very well become the next EA.
2k14 has a special place in my heart lol. 2k11 a very close second but those damn press conferences, I play association every 2k and I remember being so frustrated, thinking in my head "that's such an idiotic response wtf that's not what I meant". Still though many hours went into 2k11!!
The retro filters I miss the most and it really gave the classic/legendary teams more personality. Jordan's face is still the greatest in 2k11 also. Great video as usual DOM.
Tbh would’ve agreed with you about a year ago. But when you have bad internet and not much money, 2k19s been a great time to play offline games on for me.
I absolutely LOVED 2k11, but my only problem was the starting overall for your MyPlayer. 37-41 overall (depending on your build) that's just not fun to play with a character under 50 overall, it was frustrating
Amazing Job so far. I personally will always have 2K 13 as my fav, but I completely understand why people loved this game. 2k12's intro is also a close second cause that intro to the game was dope.
Still have the game to this day. I refused to sell it even tho I haven't touched it since 2013. I loved how much practice you actually had to put in to be good. I remember being the only one in my circle who know how to dribble in that game. And one exploit not a lot of people remember. If you gently held the left stick towards your off ball hand, ai defenders would jump in that direction to cut you off so you would get a wide open shot or an easy drive every time. And Ty Lawson was low key broken.
My favorite 2k game. To be fair it was my first as well, but everything about it made me fall in love with basketball. I was 11 and at that point and only interest at the time was wrestling. After this game I put all my focus into the NBA. I logged hours of gameplay to the point where I knew 80% of the players without even watching full games. The soundtrack was amazing and not repetitive at all like in today’s 2ks where even with the adding of new songs in updates, it feels like you only hear 2 or 3 songs on repeat. My career was simple yet fun. You could play seasons upon seasons without it getting stale. The combine was dope and I remember getting endorsements and making those initial free agency decisions. The Jordan moments mode or whatever it was called was a fun game new mode and something you don’t get in new 2ks. Now it’s just recycling the same 3 game modes: My League, Mycareer, My team and play now. And instead of adding new stuff they just take away and re add them later to make it seem like new features. Or they ruin game modes like MYGM that are perfect and try to make it my career 2.0 with 1,000 written text scenes that no one ever reads. I hope one day they think to remaster some of the old 2ks.
Real shit man. It was a big thing with the theme song and the era. 2010 was a great time for many fans. The soundtrack was like legendary heavenly ina way. The gameplay had such a good presentation and commentary and the celebs and gamemodes it was really good. I think nostalgia is a main key in the reviews and ranking but even when it first came out it was a 9.5 so idk
Man I remember coming home from school on Friday night, loading up MyPlayer and Playing 5v5 streetball against other people online. It was so basic but so fun. I wish they would just bring that option back. No park loading. Just click it and get thrown on a random team of 5.
I cannot play most games, like racing or sports, on a gamepad so I stick to the keyboard. NBA 2k11 is pretty keyboard-friendly compared to 2k12 that I tried to play as well. Despite having a frustrating time with the player career mode, the game is still fun and I keep coming back to it. To hell with those newest titles that have uncomfortable menus to begin with.
Bro, I remember putting so many hours into this game. U forgot to mention the 7 foot demigods everybody had online, or was that in a different video, lol. It was so easy to do and everyone had them so it was one of the only ways to stay competitive. Great game though, super dope.
I love this game! I recently got it back! Because the gameplay is one of the greatest gameplays out there and plus I love the create a team aspect and I love all the different rosters! This 2k is the best in my opinion
4:50 Even more upsetting is that this feature is available in their WWE series of games. You can edit a show to have a certain grain whether it be black and white, VHS, 80s, 90s, and early 2000s filters. Same should be allowed with the create a court option in 2K.
2k11 my first 2k when I was 7, I loved the game and I loved the soundtrack and it would be the last 2k until 2k14 and 2k15 came around where I wasn't calling the game trash and eventually I stopped playing that certain game I was bashing. 2k11, 2k14, and 2k15 were the games when the game was the most recent 2k where the 2k community weren't bashing the game calling it trash and then a year after they missed it.
I remember in MyPlayer, it was actually really hard(least for me) to get other players to join your team when the team would ask for your advice on who to target. Anyone who was an 80 or higher never came to my team lol.
"Whoever has been writing the dialogue for nba2k has really missed the mark of simulating the actual nba," great point. Id like to add that nba2k itself missed the mark of simulating the actual nba in many ways
My Xbox One shit the bed recently, so I’ve been playing NBA 2K 11 & 12 a lot lately on my Xbox 360. I forgot how much fun and perfect these 2 games are.
This game was waaay ahead of it's time. 2k did everything right with this game, the soundtrack, the gameplay, presentation, and game modes. I could play this game and never get bored. It's an experience of a lifetime from 2k, which is why I'm confused. Why isn't this remastered, or backwards compatible?
The last 2k game I've played and still have. The only problem is mine is on PC. Love how many people patch the game to give MJ and others a more realistic look.
Playing the 2K11 soundtrack while editing this was exciting.

It had MJ on the cover. It has to be the greatest ever.
It's 2024 and 2K11 is better than 2K24.
I playing 2k14 on Series X in 2022, game looks realy cool and gameplay is realistic. I like eco-mode, players acting like real life :)
You can play 2k14 on the black Xbox series x?! 😱
Back when 2K had to try
Can't wait for you to review 2k12 my first 2k game I ever played
My cousin and I had some absolute battles in this game with the Heat and Lakers
My first ever 2k on Xbox. My first ever was 2k10 on the WII.
NBA 2K11 is STILL the best basketball game ever made. I STILL play it daily.
John Wall in summer league was OP . That’s the main thing I remember .
Not Into NBA2K or Basketball too much But Great Great Video on This Game. You Convinced me to Pick This Old Game Up and give it a Try, Great Video👍
Video game gold. Agree with Dom on everything
I remember using DRose in 2k11 and 2k12 against my boys...dude was the biggest hack in sports games lmao
Yes this was fast...thank you
My Xbox One shit the bed recently, so I’ve been playing NBA 2K 11 & 12 a lot lately on my Xbox 360. I forgot how much fun and perfect these 2 games are.
This came out after I turned 21 it was my first time drinking Hennessy. I played the Jordan mode and scored 117 points.
Nice vid bro🔥!
Omg thought I was the only one that felt that about the soundtrack. My dream is to make a whole album that fits 2k can be in one game
