OMG. I discovered Arcimoto when I started researching EVs. If we had a space, I’d have one as soon as I could get one shipped. I rode motorcycles and three wheelers growing up, so I get how the steering would be difficult at low speeds. But their torque vectoring is going to greatly improve the product. If you get one, I will be totally jealous but thrilled for you!

Videos of the FUV playing around in snow are now available here. The reports are that it does even better than most FWD cars. I used to use Walmart delivery when I owned no car. It was $100/yr plus tips and the drivers burn gas. Now I pick up my orders in my new FUV and take advantage of FREE 220 volt electric vehicle charging while there. My food doesn't get thawed or mishandled any more but I'm still safer outdoors. I strap a cooler into the rear seat - I really wanted the Deliverator version but they ask $5K more, too much for what is offered. I'll be doing my own Deliverator conversion. I ordered my FUV 2 years ago and was lucky that Florida was chosen as one of the first states for orders.
I love how into this vehicle you are! That is super awesome!! You should consider filming your Deliverator conversion and putting it on RUclips! I'd totally watch that! - Liv
@@MachE_VLOG The full conversion I want would involve fasteners that the company says will void my 3 year warranty. Therefore I have to make a half-assed version for now that fits entirely by mechanical interlocking fitments that involve no fasteners to the vehicle. Tie wraps and ss clamp bands are OK to use. I can make do with that for now. It will make the rear seat area into a huge bin.
I added adhesive free static cling tint to my roof and windshield brow. Trust me, it IS safe for plastics and has been used for years by aircraft owners on their plastic windows. I called Gila and they were not even aware of that use on aircraft plastic. Gila heavy duty limo tint 5% for the roof, applied on the TOP SIDE, against all advice, is an easy install. Trying to put it on the underside would be maddening and much harder to do unless you remove the roof first. Adding the brow area 20% tint is very helpful against sun glare and that is easy to apply to the inside. I installed cling tint to my rear window on my velomobile, as shown in my avatar, 3 years ago. It is holding up extremely well despite being on the outer side. It has not peeled or shown any sign of deterioration and under it the plastic is perfectly protected from scratches. You can apply uv-protectant or carnauba wax to it. Another route for the roof is solid or perforated vinyl stretch wrap. I'm in Florida in January, we just had 6 weeks of 80+ degree days. The roof needs tint in the sun belt and that should be a factory option.
Wow that's some great upgrades. I hadn't thought about tinting but I could certainly see that being a necessity. We love the glass roof on the Mach-E but the tint is so good that you can't tell the difference between glass or no glass. Would be interested to see how well the UV-protectant and tint can block out rays for a vehicle like the Arcimoto. - Liv
@@MachE_VLOG I just finished installing LED backup lights on my FUV. It was fully wired for them, including plugs on the wire harness, but they put black plugs in the openings for the lights. I told the company about this cheapskate move, especially since the owner manual mentions backup lights as though they are standard equipment. Backup lights wired and installed would have cost them $3 at most.

[update edit - my mechanic hit 84 on a test drive!]I would prefer a lighter FUV that struggles to hold 60 mph. I owned no car for the last 6 years, all that savings paid for my FUV. I used the ELF velomobile for all transportation and still rely on it for exercise. I have not been out of my county for 9 years, out of my small town just twice in 8 years. I have had the ELF as my only transportation for 6 years. All that time not owning a car made it easy to save enough to pay cash for the FUV that was delivered 2 weeks ago, even on my modest SS pension. I still need the ELF for exercise in a fun way due to my bad ankle. My deposit on the FUV was 2 years ago. I wanted the Deliverator version but they are still hand built for $5K extra which is too much considering they don't need the rear seat and harness and you are paying for two walls only. @@MachE_VLOG Thanks Liv. Ya, that first hit resulted in perhaps my only ambulance ride of my life. All of that is a story unto itself. Ya I know what you mean....I think second gen Mach-E owners will have a much easier time with dealerships and service thanks to all of us 1st Gen's experience! Fingers crossed it's smooth sailing for you! The Arcimoto definitely felt like it had some good safety features. Stability, double seat belts, a solid looking cage structure. It would probably be other drivers that would scare me the most! Certainly not super practical in Colorado, though Patrick does think it could be useful in downtown Denver when you only have a short way to go and limited parking - Liv
The FUV is safer than any motorcycle. I bought it to be safe in old age where I don't really need a car and balancing a bike is getting tougher. The FUV already had its first t-bone collision at 35 mph, thanks to the harness and cage the guy walked away, no need for a helmet. The cage did not bend but it was knocked over.
I live in Florida and have had my FUV for over nine months. It is my primary vehicle and I seldom use my 2005 Ford Van. Arcimoto is working hard to produce a quality vehicle. MY FUV was a version one and successive versions have solved a lot of the original quirks. I love my FUV but I do have a few comments: I understand the the plex roof will have a tinted option which is good in Florida. There is no real storage unless you buy the rear storage compartment which is very expensive. With two powerful front driving wheels, you have to be careful going to highspeed as it will wobble. I understand that one day the steering will be by wire/computer control, which will make steering easy. All of the colors you see in this video' are custom and the online order options are fewer. Be careful if you plan to tow a FUV the width does not fit a lot of trailers.
I have also had mine in Florida for 9 months. Yours is not old enough to be the Signature Series that had a base price of $25K. It is the FUV version. Mine is my only vehicle and I have not bought gas for 8 years. The squirrely steering you can get while accelerating quickly to highway speed is something we get used to and never experience again with just a few driving sessions. The trunk is NOT "Very expensive". It is a $750 option the rentals and some customers don't want, they just strap on a cargo bag or box on the rear shelf where the trunk bolts down. We do our own roof tinting. There is no reason to suffer in the hot sun due to the clear roof and lack of brow tint. A $20 roll of Gila vinyl cling limo tint 5% transmission goes on the roof very easy or you pay a body shop to add a vinyl wrap on it.
I wish they would sale these fun cars in the Netherlands but we have other options like the Carver on three wheels and has doors, but the person who sits down behinds does not have enough space for their legs.
The full cost and full savings must be considered, compared to cars. My Allstate insurance is only $130/yr, I charge with 30 cents worth of power, or charge for free at Walmart. No oil changes, 3 tires and brakes instead of 4 to maintain, no exhaust system to corrode away. If you are paying taxes you may be able to get a substantial EV rebate or tax break.
Arcimoto is just starting to build a new plant for mass production. They said the base price would drop to about $12,000 - 13,000. So I would guess about 2024. Made in USA!!!
@@beachbum200009 That price is based on 2022 numbers. Any inflation fairly raises the 12K to maintain the actual price point promised in the 2022 market. No. The FUV will remain as the flagship vehicle for phase one. Phase two is a tilting model in the 600 pound weight range that is not for continuous high speeds and more like a motorcycle. Phase three is an ultimate e-bike. All fit specific uses more sustainably than ICE vehicles.

I know what you mean! I think a helmet would feel much more comfortable...or envisioning it in a nice, chill city...beachside roads..that sorta thing - Liv
The FUV offers the same safety level as a car with air bags, but via a different approach. The first collision has already happened, the cage did not bend and the guy walked away, no helmet.
Hey guys long time no see! I don't know what to do about this and I was wondering if you knew what was going on. I have the 1.7.1 update issue that seems to be going around. Do you have any idea what this is or how to deal with it? Have you experienced it or anyone in here? My car has been at the dealership for four days and the car refuses to take the update.
They should have procedures on how to handle a module that doesn't update. I think back in May when mine was getting updated there was a problematic one. I'm not sure how they resolved it, but I know it took several tries to get it updated.
@@MachE_VLOG I saw online and the mechanic told me that there was a software update for this very issue apparently for people with the 1.7.1 issue hopefully coming in February.
Can't wait for my Tesla cybertuck (0-60 mph 2.9 seconds) delivery but in the mean time I am considering buying this as a 3rd vehicle 5th vehicle in total.
Conspicuous consumption is a real problem for us. Teslas are an abomination that is not sustailable due to excessive weight and power. They bring us no closer to carbon neutral. Four Arcimotos can be made from the materials in one Tesla. Think about that.
The cup holder location was poorly thought out. Every time you mount the vehicle you have to lift your leg higher to avoid it, and very high if a cup is in place. I have no interest in owning a cell phone so I ordered my FUV without cup or phone holders. I tie wrapped a bike bottle cage on the frame at the base of the windshield. The speakers only work with bluetooth and I own no Bt device. Torque vector sterring assistance is only needed below 5 mph but I can live with the hard steering at low speeds, I bought a set of motorcyclist wrist bands to look the part.
Oof I didn't even think about the inconvenience of having to step over a water bottle. I'm literally never without a beverage so I'd definitely want a cup holder....but perhaps a different location would be better - Liv
Arcimoto starting to build a plant and will be in mass production at the end of the year. They hope to drop the base price to around $12,000 -13,000. Arcimoto just put out a video playing around in the snow. Check out Arcimoto on RUclips. : )
*Niche* In 2022 all vehicle prices are reaching all time highs but only EVs need no gas and get rebates/tax breaks. There are now videos of the Arcimoto in rain and on snow and ice. It handles as well as any other FWD car, even without studded tires. Motorcycles have rounded tires but the FUV has car tires with tons of traction in comparison. My years of MC experience give me much greater confidence on wet roads with the three car tires. Traction control is also on the drawing board.
@@Rick9482 The M3 weighs three times as much as the FUV but does not offer three times the safety nor do you ever once in your lifetime need the top speed it offers. There are enough materials in yours to make three Arcimotos, making clear an often ignored aspect of the definition of sustainablilty. The first serious collision with the FUV has already happened. The driver walked away with bruises, no helmet, while the car was totalled on the roll cage pillar without bending it. If he was on a motorcycle he would have lost his leg at the very least.
Agreed Rick , its basically a toy , They need to figure out that issue with range at higher speeds. Only getting 40 miles to a charge at higher speed is horrible , others EV's like the Solo are still getting close to 90 miles per charge at higher speeds.
Way more than enough for many of us, based on the actualy factual statistics about the average distance of a trip in a personal car. Long commutes and pleasure rides are obsolete for the rest of your lifetime, you just don't understand that yet.
@@MachE_VLOG To be accurate, a one hour session on a 220 volt L2 charger will barely add 20% to the battery charge. At home it takes almost 3 hours to add 20% with 110 power. In practice, an eatery with delivery service can leave this plugged in between runs.
LMAO. That lady - it only goes up to 75 mph????? How fast do you want to go??? Then You need the 150 mph Tesla S Plaid. This vehicle maybe fun, but not practical for family usage. Plus it does not have enough storage space for me. it would not be good in the winter time where I live - being it is not a fully enclosed vehicle. And there are other things I won't mention.
Can't wait for my Tesla cybertuck (0-60 mph 2.9 seconds) delivery but in the mean time I am considering buying this as a 3rd vehicle 5th vehicle in total.
dang, you have quite the garage. Are they all EV's? - Liv
Conspicuous consumption is a real problem for us. Teslas are an abomination that is not sustailable due to excessive weight and power. They bring us no closer to carbon neutral. Four Arcimotos can be made from the materials in one Tesla. Think about that.
just one more.... hahaha nice. This sort of stuff will be very cool when batteries get lighter and smaller.
haahah I think he said "Just one more...about 10 times!" - Liv
Patrick - did you hear the news that the New York City Police Department is buying 187 Mach-E GTs?
I did. Excellent choice!
Patrick - That EV has a nitch but it is pricey! It may be useless (or even dangerous) in snow or really wet conditions!
Arcimoto starting to build a plant and will be in mass production at the end of the year. They hope to drop the base price to around $12,000 -13,000. Arcimoto just put out a video playing around in the snow. Check out Arcimoto on RUclips. : )
Yeah, I don't know if I would buy one living here in Colorado. But it could be useful in a lot of places.
@@MachE_VLOG Yeah I hear ya. I live in Cleveland Ohio. Summers are short.
Tesla plaid please 🙏
I wish we'd had a chance to drive it that weekend! Hopefully in the future! - Liv
I think it's a cool recreation vehicle but that's it......
It satisfies 100% of my vehicle needs easily. Many owners who bought it as a second vehicle can't resist driving it all the time.
@@popeyegordon I take great pleasure being in one of the safest cars available, Tesla M3.
My motorcycle days are long gone!
Range range range 102 or less miles are just not enough.
I doubt anyone would want to ride one of these for 100 miles in a day.
Way more than enough for many of us, based on the actualy factual statistics about the average distance of a trip in a personal car. Long commutes and pleasure rides are obsolete for the rest of your lifetime, you just don't understand that yet.
@@MachE_VLOG Well, for delivery routes with some fast charging during lunchtime, 100 miles is easy.
@@popeyegordon That's sorta what I mean. Most people aren't going to do 100 miles in one shot. There will be breaks.
@@MachE_VLOG To be accurate, a one hour session on a 220 volt L2 charger will barely add 20% to the battery charge. At home it takes almost 3 hours to add 20% with 110 power. In practice, an eatery with delivery service can leave this plugged in between runs.
Lol....it drives like a Tesla.
Nop, I will pass on these type of vehicles. Give me a regular size EV vehicle, plenty of storage space, with AWD, and 4 wheels under me. I want a vehicle, not a bike.
