It has a wrap around windshield and clear roof that keeps me dry. Heated seats, hand grips and heated defroster. There is no significant wind chill. But just as the FUV is not suitable for deep snow, snowmobiles are not a failed design just because they are worthless in Florida. Excellent design!
It didn’t have one during delivery, but one was put on afterwards. It’s located at the rear right below the cargo box area, and in the US, it’s the size of a motorcycle plate, which is slightly smaller than the traditional plate for a car or truck.
If I was rich and wanted a toy that's probably really fun but doesn't yet have the support network necessary to protect an ordinary person's substantial investment, I'd definitely buy one!
Oh yeah, I definitely agree with you there! The vehicle in its current form is fairly overpriced for what it offers, and as you said, doesn’t yet have the support network. A used EV would be a better buy for the same price, but if they bring the price down then I might consider one, though it can’t be a primary vehicle.
Arcimoto will not sell in any state where they have not first set up mobile service teams. That list just jumped to 13 states. Several hundred FUVs, plus rental fleets, are in Florida. They come to my door for software updates, recall actions and warranty work. So now you know there is no reason to wait. Rich? I'm probably the poorest one to buy this. I rode ebikes for 7 years to save up for my Arcimoto on my SS pension. It took half of my entire modest life savings to buy and it was worth it. So fun and so much safer than motorcycles I have owned in the past. This was the only new vehicle I ever bought.
@@georgeschneider8778 Hi George, I'm brandons uncle, the owner of that FUV, and I ordered pretty soon after the waitlist was available, so years ago. I could have received my FUV much sooner but I was in New Zealand for a long time and they haven't started shipping there. I just happened to be in the US this year and decided to take delivery here.
There is no need to know the exact voltage. The warning is sufficient. The FUV has a 103 volt battery. Balking at a voltage warning is silly, ICE cars have huge fuel tank bombs underneath. Statistics show that EVs are safer than gas for hazards from the power source.
@@charleslindsay3201 Much more so for ebikes than for EVs. The main spec you want is battery capacity in kilowatt hours. Arcimoto's is 18.4 kWH. Small EV cars are around 40 kWH. Battery bank voltage does not influence safety for the owner unless you put hands where they do not belong. The owner manual provides safety guidance. Most EVs automatically cut power to the main relay when there is a collision.
Everyone complains about Tesla’s atrocious panel gaps, as they should, but this? They're huge at the bottom of the doors, but I think that's acceptable for an open-air vehicle like this. Plus, I suppose it’s a less expensive vehicle, so panel gaps won’t be perfect, and I don’t think they need to be
@2nd3rd1st Very true. I think that the simple design of the doors makes it less of a need to have perfect gaps (waterproofing isn’t an issue since the doors are only on the bottom half)
why does it have ao many kill switches? Can be a hazard when driving it and I dont see the purpose of having 2 or 3 kill switches, with the first one being completely dangerous if you are on a highway
There is one mandatory kill switch only, in the usual place adopted as a standard for the motorcycle industry. I placed electrical tape over mine so it can't be so easily accidentally activated. It is too easy to accidentally flip that switch and not be aware of it so you think it has broken down.
@@AnimeAndrew1983 An e-bike is an electric bicycle, which you wouldn’t need a license for, just like an electric scooter. An electric motorcycle, or a vehicle like this would require a license. Depends on the area and other factors as well.

@@popeyegordon The solar trike looks pretty cool! the solar panel is so smart because it's taking free energy from the sun and converting it into actual energy. isn't this kind of similar to arcimoto MLM? what are your thoughts on that one? I know you can pedal and stuff to recharge the battery while its stationary
@@BrandonKipp - Can't think of the name, but there's a company that makes flex solar panels for RV van upfitters. I bet they could make custom panels to Arcimoto rooftop specifications.
They are always available but not practical for such a small roof. 100 watts is less than the daily parasitic drain of the systems on the battery when parked. A 1500 watt minimum solar system is required to charge the 18KW battery in one full day of sunshine.
They are not going to cater to irresponsible kids or those who want to waste energy. The torque for starting is governed to make sure you can't spin the wheels and waste energy, wear down tires or endanger the public. This is not a redneck toy or an off road vehicle. That behavior is becoming obsolete fast.
Toyota has never sold anything like this in the US, though they’ve had concept cars of vehicles like this in other markets. And yes, the market for vehicles like this in the US is small at the moment
Brandon has no basis or evidence on which to claim the market for the FUV is small in 2022, after the entire world has been told by the global science community that we are dying if we don't stop what we are doing. Change or die off. It's that simple. Arcimoto has 5000 pre-orders in a country where most of us have not heard of Arcimoto yet.
Yeah, I agree that they really need to bring their prices down for the vehicle to become competitive. Though, the battery in this car is probably quite expensive
@@yulog That is false. The promise of that goal of a $12K base price with mass production was based on 2018 dollars and will be more with inflation by late 2023 when the new mass production version is ready. It will be easier to do more assembly by robitics then and it will be lighter with a bigger battery capacity. I decided not to wait, I'm getting old. Mine is a very economical vehicle with no gas or oil changes and the very low motorcycle insurance rate saves me $800 every year.
Oh yeah, there’s definitely still lots of work to be done. Especially considering the price, I’d expect to have better and more reliable software, but only time will tell how they improve. Stuff like the accelerator cutting out at random times can be scary and dangerous if you don't know what to do. Happened to me just the other day, needed to put it in neutral, then back into drive and then it worked again.
As an owner I say it is very finished. Easy handling, very utilitarian, safe and fun. I do not want doors in Florida. The idea is to avoid the solar oven effect and dead weight of doors and glass. This final of 5 prototypes is far better than previons versions. They saved 16 inches of vehicle length and 220 pounds of vehicle weight by going to handlebars. The long design history shows.
So sad that so many investors stay with this stock since they are down so much they are hoping for an upturn in price to recoup a bit. Correction - the default battery charge level is 90%. We have to enter a command to go 100%. This method increases total battery life. Not the only EV using this approach. $18K is a fantastic deal in 2022 for a vehicle that never needs gas or oil changes and gets the very low motorcycle insurance rate. As of now there is a $7,500 tax rebate. Didn't help me as I'm retired. Demand for EVs is set to explode with the new tax breaks.
We got it up to 84 mph, and while it's sketchy, it's so much fun snd felt a bit more stable than expected. Definitely not something to do on a regular basis though.
Nothing even remotely in common with a golf cart. Fail. High speed vehicles like this are not allowed on golf courses. The actual unadvertised top speed is over 80 mph. Mine does 84. @@popeyegordon Golf carts may not be as safe, but yeah it’s very similar dimension wise. My cart is 1 inch longer than an arcimoto, about 10 inches less wide, but it is also taller. Has an inch more of ground clearance too. So, yeah, it’s basically driving around a super fast golf cart.

I don't see a Registration Plate [Number Plate]?
First!
Haha awesome! Thanks for watching Ryan. I guess that’s what happens when you’re on the bus waiting for a crash to be cleared out of the road...
Great video 👍 When did you order your fuv?
@@georgeschneider8778 Hi George, I'm brandons uncle, the owner of that FUV, and I ordered pretty soon after the waitlist was available, so years ago. I could have received my FUV much sooner but I was in New Zealand for a long time and they haven't started shipping there. I just happened to be in the US this year and decided to take delivery here.
nice video but you should say what the battery voltage is when giving the warning
I’d assume this uses a 400V system like most EVs, though I haven’t found anything about this topic.
There is no need to know the exact voltage. The warning is sufficient. The FUV has a 103 volt battery. Balking at a voltage warning is silly, ICE cars have huge fuel tank bombs underneath. Statistics show that EVs are safer than gas for hazards from the power source.
@@popeyegordon voltage is a basic data point for ev's for whatever reason---safety,amps,power ,heating.
Can I buy in The U.K.?
I don’t believe you can at the moment.
You didn't check for panel gaps??!
Everyone complains about Tesla’s atrocious panel gaps, as they should, but this? They're huge at the bottom of the doors, but I think that's acceptable for an open-air vehicle like this. Plus, I suppose it’s a less expensive vehicle, so panel gaps won’t be perfect, and I don’t think they need to be
@@BrandonKipp Yeah, but the doors are still a rare sight and I don't think gaps are a priority for them at this point
@2nd3rd1st Very true. I think that the simple design of the doors makes it less of a need to have perfect gaps (waterproofing isn’t an issue since the doors are only on the bottom half)
This is an economy utility vehicle. If you want perfect panels, carpeting, soudproofing and wood grain dash you spend far more.
@@popeyegordon I agree
why does it have ao many kill switches? Can be a hazard when driving it and I dont see the purpose of having 2 or 3 kill switches, with the first one being completely dangerous if you are on a highway
I believe it's mandatory to have a kill switch for a motorcycle type of vehicle, but I agree it could easily get pressed.
There is one mandatory kill switch only, in the usual place adopted as a standard for the motorcycle industry. I placed electrical tape over mine so it can't be so easily accidentally activated. It is too easy to accidentally flip that switch and not be aware of it so you think it has broken down.
Brandon Kipp - Do you need a driver license to used this or not my friend ?
Yes. In the US, you can insure this as a motorcycle, but you need a traditional class c license to drive it.
@@BrandonKipp - Do you kno any so called e bike were i don't need a driver license 4 ?

That's what the Organic Transit ELF e-trike was - solar panel roof and pedal power. I drove mine exclusively for 7 years and saved so much I could pay cash for my Arcimoto. Are you losing your memory? I recall you posting about the ELF many times. What you do not know is that insurance companies give the very low motorcycle rate to the Arcimoto. Mine is just $130/yr for a good Allstate policy. Yes, I'm saving $800/yr in insurance plust never buying gas or oil changes again.
I don't understand why flexible, rooftop solar panels aren't available.
I agree! Especially with how efficient this car is (at least in the city), it would make a lot of sense even if it was a low-wattage panel.
@@BrandonKipp - Can't think of the name, but there's a company that makes flex solar panels for RV van upfitters. I bet they could make custom panels to Arcimoto rooftop specifications.
@@RetiredAmerican Oh yeah, that would be amazing. It would be a great perk for Arcimoto to have a semi-solar-powered car
They are always available but not practical for such a small roof. 100 watts is less than the daily parasitic drain of the systems on the battery when parked. A 1500 watt minimum solar system is required to charge the 18KW battery in one full day of sunshine.
@@popeyegordon *18 kWh
just one thing does it smoke the wheels
They are not going to cater to irresponsible kids or those who want to waste energy. The torque for starting is governed to make sure you can't spin the wheels and waste energy, wear down tires or endanger the public. This is not a redneck toy or an off road vehicle. That behavior is becoming obsolete fast.
Toyota made one of these and I don’t see them around anywhere (??????????)
@@BrandonKipp I agree
@@BrandonKipp No one would want to buy these cars
$20k for this?
Yeah, I agree that they really need to bring their prices down for the vehicle to become competitive. Though, the battery in this car is probably quite expensive
@@BrandonKipp They were supposed to be 12k
That price would make it much more attractive, and I hope they can bring it down to that at some point.
No, not $20K. The base price is $17,900. In 2022 the average price of a new EV in the US is $66,000
@@yulog That is false.
I like the concept, but can’t justify paying that kinda money for it.
Yeah, just like you said in your previous comment, the $20k price is definitely high. They need to lower the price to make it more appealing
The price is $17,900 in 2022 when the average price of a new EV is $66,000!
@@popeyegordon that's a lot!
Can't seem to buy one. Shades of Elio.
It's cool but feels unfinished and it's surprising givin how long this vehicle has been in development.
Too clever ! Too expensive ! OK if you have money a nice toy ,but not for the mass market .
So sad that so many investors stay with this stock since they are down so much they are hoping for an upturn in price to recoup a bit. I have done many popular videos on this subject, as there are many who hate the stock and many who are saddened by FUV. Here is one of my most recent videos: Why Did Arcimoto (FUV) Jump Up Today? Now is the Time to SELL!!! [$FUV] Episode 173
You are a dirt bag predatory click baiter and nothing more. You can't lose a single penny unless you sell too soon.
Starting at 18 grand 😆😆 the battery lost 10% just being powered up.
This goes 75mph, although I can't imagine who would be crazy enough to drive what is essentially a 3-wheeled golf cart 75mph.
I am protected in a certified 24G crash cage and a 6 point harness, so safe that no helmet, air bags or leather is needed. No golf cart in existence has proven formula one race car safety.
@@seanrodgers553 No it absolutely is not. You can lie forever and never make that true. You are a very insecure person with a cheater mentality that compels you to upvote your own comments. There are countless vehicles that have the approximate dimensions of golf carts. They are all different designs for different purposes. A 6 wheel ATV is the same dimension but nothing in common with a golf cart. A forklift may have the same dimensions too and it is not a 'super slow golf cart'. C) Yeah, an ATV is kinda similar, just serves a different purpose. Yes, I can off road my golf cart too
D) There is nothing wrong with comparing a golf cart to an Arcimoto. I’m saying that as a positive. I love golf carts, an arcimoto seems like a fast golf cart. Easy to maneuver in tight spaces, easy to take around a community, easy to plug in at home, easy to just get out of the house and enjoy the ride. When I think of an arcimoto, I think of it as a fast golf cart for these reasons, I’m not sure what’s wrong with that. That’s a good thing

A large part of all FUV sales come an average of two months after these are rented or driven at a demo event and the average order is $22,400 meaning they select profitable options as well. These numbers can be verified in Arcimoto's quarterly report.
