This was the approach from west to São Paulo-Guarulhos (GRU), the approach to São Paulo-Congonhas (CGH) from the same direction is a whole lot more impressive, since you are going over very dense neighborhoods with 20+ story buildings until the last 1-2km, but only with smaller planes like A320 or Leatjet. No 777s or A380 there.

Just to clarify, most of what you see in this approach is not really the city of São Paulo but Guarulhos, suburban city in the north, where the international airport is located.
That discontinuity was bothering me so much hahaha Usually when I operated at GRU I would connect those points, because if it was vectoring (which seldom they do in Brazil), they would you give you some heading. And yes, classic brazilian ATC "reduce and descend" hahaha (adding to your data, Guarulhos itself has over 4 mllion people and is the largest municipality in Brazil that is not a capital)
