  • Previously i showed you all the Skoda Superb Broken Injector Bolt and it was time to tackle the job.
    I've tried to remove the bolt with a punch first in hope that the bolt would spin out, then i decided to drill it out which didn't worked and finally plan C.
    I got in contact with Dave a Local engineer specialized in removing broken bolts and re-threading, it was the best decision to be honest Dave has a ton of experience and the tools for the job.
    Unfortunately after turning the engine on it's noticeable that something isn't right internally , it was time to pull the Picoscope and check timing ...
    Like i metion guys i am a bit green with the scope stuff and learning it slowly but surely, i believe i should have put it the first 0° ruler by the raise of the first square waveform and i've sent the waveform to ‪@MechanicMindset‬ and he confirmed it was actually 10° degress out , Cheers Darren 👍
    I hope you guys enjoy this one ...

    How's she goin'? This was a difficult repair. Great that you had access to a guy like David to extract the broken bolt. As you were trying to think of ways to get the broken bolt out I was wondering what caused the bolt to break in the first place. And then the engine was running and making that scary noise, I was more interested in why it broke. Then you mentioned the timing being off perhaps and exhaust not going out the tailpipe. Well it has to go somewhere and popping out the injectors is probably what happened. Good diagnoses Igor on a difficult problem to resolve. Take care!!

  • @markgallaway5574

    Something similar happened to my Caddy which as the same engine. In about 2019 two of the injector came out and the car was recovered. The idiots who "fixed" it just tightened the bolt down (which you should not do). It came out again a few days latter. They then claimed to have replaced the bolt but three years later the bolt they replaced snapped. They had almost certainly over tightened it. Took out 2 injects and cost me £600 the muppets.

    ohhhh man I was hoping for some drilling and bolt extraction :) just kidding mate, glad you got it sorted, it looks like some massive back pressure there, you got a welder ? drill some pre and post holes and hammer in some brake tubing for pressure testing pre and post DPF :) that sucker has the symptoms of needing some Pepto bismol.... :P

    Do you think the reason could be over torgueing the bolt or bolts when the injectors were replaced? I had the same problem on my DS4 and even the brackets were broken! Then I read somewhere that 2 stage-torqueing is necessary like 7nm at first and an additional 50 degrees tightening.

    • @CarsExposed
      @CarsExposed  Год назад

      I believe the main reason is injector removal and no replacement of the bolt. Some time ago he had the whole fuel system replaced paid by Tesco including injectors and I don't believe they replaced the bolts which is one time use.

      They generally break if you remove the injector and don’t replace them bolts. The injector clamp bolts have to be replaced every time you remove them.
