Very common fault - very good remedy - similar to the vauxhall combo engine design - I have used an m8 cap screw because people like breaking easy-outs and drill bits in these when they flap around and break the bolt or because the original bolt was reused 👍🙏🙏👌
This happened to me last night. I had injector 3 replaced about 4 years ago, and last night 3 and 4 popped out on the run home from work. Thankfully I was able to coast into a layby, but it looked very messy.
After replacing the injector seals and injector washers the power of the car became a little bit laggy. The old cooper washers were very flat and damaged. I think with new cooper washers the height of injector is a little bit higher and the combustion is different. The tightening of the studs was done quite well in 2-3 stages, so i think there problem is not the insufficient tightening. Unfortunately i didn't know i had to replace the both studs, too. Can i replace both studs without replacing the seals again?
Hi, Brill video, thanks for taking the time to do it. I am replacing my injector seals as they are becoming a bit oily around them. Trouble is then shite sticks to it and its ends up a thick mess. I have new injector stem seals, shaft o rings, copper washers and rocker gasket, there not cheap are they? Also there are increasingly more stuff appearing from China, which could well be crap, who knows? I got mine from Germany, Autodoc. But it does take around 7-10 days by post. Question, can the copper seals stick down in the head, or do they generally come out stuck to the injector? Also, is there not an oil seal on the shaft of the injector holding clamps?, if so is it with changing too?? Thanks again, really good help.
Hi Tim, yes the decent kits ain’t cheap, copper washers do sometimes stick down in the head. I normally remove rocker cover to be able to see better, if you get a large flat head screwdriver then push it in the center and it catches the washers so you can pull it out. Give each port a good clean for the new ones to seal. There’s no o ring on the injector but there is rubber seals in the rocker cover under the clamps. Let me know if you get stuck with anything 👍
Great video man. A question - if a copper washer that you’re fishing out ends up getting lost (rocker cover still on) will that cause problems if you can’t find it? 👀 😁🤦🏼♂️
Thank you 👍 haha easily done, so obviously it would be nice to find it but something like a washer would normally just fall in a little hole somewhere and sit not causing any harm, also as is copper it wouldn’t damage anything.
Thank you sir 👍 ok I’ll bare that in mind. When vw designed this engine they made them with one 8mm thread bolt holding 2 injectors, the engine before these has 2 bolts per injector.
hello, I have just done this mod, thanks for saving me a cylinder head, could I ask please did you need to bleed the fuel system as I get a low fuel pressure code, I have tried bleeding the pump with an oil extractor but no joy
Great video but puzzled why you didn't just run a 8mm die down your ebay 8 mm stud to extend your thread. You appear to have the skills and this is a quick job with a vice and tap and die set
Hey Colin so I didn’t know how far I could have gone in without breaking through, someone had been there unfortunately so the top bit of the thread was already knackered.
Hi bud no the injector brand is specific to your injection system, if you put your injector number into an eBay search Or Google search and you will find what one you need.
i'm trying to repair the thread with Helicoil but i noticed that the original bolt is a bit thinner than the standard M6 bolt. it's aprox. 5.78mm and standard M6 bolt is 6mm. anyone tried the Helicoil approach so can provide some useful information?
Do you need any sealant on the rocker cover ? My new cover and gaskets arrived today hopefully gonner start the job tomorrow when this rain finally stops
@@roostaraver so I reused the rocker gasket and cover as it looked ok, sometimes the do have a small amount of sealant on sharp corners etc, if you’ve still got your old one have a look and see if there’s any sealant in certain areas.
@@YTDTETV sound , thats a good shout , i will check it out when i remove it , price for the rubber seals around injectors has gone up, bloody £12 from vw now
Hi I've got the same problem, just want to know if you thread down into the head or just the cam case . Also if you can send a link of the bolts you used from ebay .
Hallo, das Video ist großartig. Aber ich habe ein Problem mit Öldampf, der aus dem Motoröldeckel meines VW Turan 2011 austritt. Können Sie mir erklären, wo das Problem liegt? Vielen Dank.
Hey bud fate has got me here. I got same issue same engine same injector bolt issue. I will buy the stud thanks for link but the link for barrel nut doesnt work so please help me here. Or should i use a normal nut and dome it little or use washer bend it slightly?. Also where i have diesel leak on the injectors i will change fuel return pipe but it keeps coming out due to pressure what can i do. Thanks
Hey bud so it the thread pulled out? If so then yes do this this one I done still run’s absolutely mint no issues. Just type m8 barrel nut on eBay and it should bring one up 👍 you can buy a leak off pipe set on eBay for around £20 that should fix it.
Hi jacks so when the injectors are out I have this tool, it cleans the seats and ports very well. You can also use wd40 and similar stuff, don’t worry if some goes into the cylinders it burns straight off 👍 www.ebay.co.uk/itm/183101700267?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=3eWoxo2sSX6&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=rFVY-8_MTHe&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
Yes cleaning them is ok, diesel, petrol, wd40 or anything solvent based with do. I always avoid the tips thow there’s microscopic holes in them and I don’t like to disturb them.
@@YTDTETV wicked , my injectors popped out nice following your method 13mm socket and a crowbar off the fuel rail bolt with a hot engine , game out like butter.., iv got allot of carbon on my injecter nozzles around and infront of the copper washers gonner be hard to push the washers off
@@roostaraver glad my videos help 👍👍 so I had some super stuck washers and I had a razor blade to dig some of the carbon off around the washer, I then tapped the blade behind the washer to start it moving forward. I just used a 3/8 ratchet and done it up the same as you would a 13mm nut, don’t hang off it just do it up if you know what I mean. Sorry I can’t be more specific 👍

Hey bud yes they are so bad on these, funny you mention fuel consumption because these 1.6 are terrible on fuel. I’ve heard the 2.0l are much better 👍👍
Top tip. Use the old bolt head as a domed washer by drilling through the head to the shaft with an 8mm bit
Thank you for the video. Really appreciate you readily sharing your knowledge and providing very useful tips and tricks. 👍
