I really like how nanami’s death means so much to JJk and Yuuji. He is a representation of grade one sorcery and his death signals both the need to surpass it and yuuji’s aswell as all other sorcerers’ and characters’ potential to do so.
Nanami gets the jogo treatment he fought two of the stronger special grade curses so it’s kinda hard to scale his ap fire video as always

It would've been brutal if Nanami was swapped with Mei Mei against Dagon, she isn't coming out of that Death Swarm alive one bit. A generic tough grade curse is where she belongs, with her sibling always near her to cover the 1v1s weaknesses.

Base Nanami fought Mahito who SHOULD be stronger than the Smallpox Deity who doesn't have any intelligence feats portrayed by the stronger Special Grade curses or the level of a Disaster Curse, so there's the quick scaling.
Also, Nanami surviving the sure hit "Death Swarm" (an attack that can damage Supreme Grade 1 Naobito) from Domain Dagon, is way more impressive than the Smallpox Deity almost killing Mei Mei in one attack.
But sure.... Mei Mei wins....

@@davidson6738 Smallpox Deity doesn't have any scaling...... and is fodder. So what's your argument? We already know the stronger Special Grade curses can speak coherently, form strategies and have an higher IQ overall, with Smallpox Deity being as dumb as the Finger Bearer.
In case you forgot, Base Nanami fought side by side with Yuji against Mahito, who WAS FORCED to use a Domain Expansion to not die.
@@davidson6738 I'm confused when did he almost lose cause last I checked the second he used overtime he blitzed mahito broke his legs and left hin to be crushed under rubble but after that mahito figured out hoe to negate nanamis attacks 🤷♂️
Nanmi didn't get hit by the same attack that Naobito did. His way 70% of Dagon's strength while Nanami's was only 30%. That over a 50% decrease in power from what hit Naobito to what hit Nanami, so using that to scale Nanami doesn't really work. You could very easily argue that the Smallpox diety was at least 30% of Dagon's strength on the basis of it being a special grade.
Additionally, Mahito at that point in the series has no scaling at all. He only scales to Mahito and Yuuji at the point in the series, two people that Mei Mei would be around the same level as. I'm sure if Mei Mei showered that version of Mahito with her crows, he would die. Based on the fact that he was able to be weakened by Nanami's weak point attacks. Which are definitely weaker than Mei Mei's binding vow.

Also the mahito you are refering to only has scaling to Yuji and Nanami, so doesn't really get you anywhere when comparing to Mei Mei directly.
Bird strike is just implied to be able to kill people who arn't in crazy tiers of power, and the rest of their scaling basically just puts them at roughly the same level.... which makes sence since they have the same rank and roughly the same amount of cloute in the JJK universe (I'd argue Mei Mei is taken more seriously by the higher ups)

I don't think that his hold back was the lost time. It was his constant willingness to let himself die, if it meant protecting others. Look back to Gojo's lecture to Megumi after the baseball game, and that is the same situation for Nanami. It's the same problem with why he never developed a Domain Expansion. He needed to be able to overcome his psychological blocks to improve, and at the heart of it, that would have required him to change who he was in his heart. He would always be that team player taking the bunt.

I enjoyed the video from an entertainment perspective, but there was some reach going on with the Mei-Mei feats. Hope you don't mind me writing a small paragraph here, but i got a lot to say.
Mei's Bird Strike statement means nothing, Nanami has wildly superior durability feats to any other Grade 1 Sorcerer (excluding Yuji), and he fought multiple special grade curses and survived them using multiple Cursed Techniques on him including a Domain, so why would a Grade 1 be able to one-shot him? I mean like you said, for all we know, she could have been hitting some random Grade 2 fodders with this and the statement doesnt change at all, assuming it one-shots everyone she knows who is not Gojo (which would include Geto, Yuta and Yuji) is some massive gas for an attack with 0 relevant feats.
The statement that Mei-Mei hit her physical limit only means that she trained to her own personal limit, and her peak physical power was not even enough to get her to Grade 1, she admitted she had to figure out her Cursed technique (and drag a child to every fight) to even reach Grade 1 whereas Yuji is Grade 1 (easily) just with pure physical might and as you correctly pointed out, Nanami can match him physically and we dont even know if that statement included Overtime and his CT. Mei-Mei purely throwing hands is at best Grade 2 level according to herself, not superior to *Overtime Nanami*.
And well, the last few minutes of this video were just talking about how Nanami doesn't handle Mei-Mei at all (going off the assumption that Bird Strike is more powerful than many special grade CTs we know of and that she has 100 birds and her brother at her side at all times) and while i can appreciate her overall abilities as Grade 1, and while Bird Strike is definitely dangerous for Nanami, you also kinda need to consider how Mei Mei deals with Nanami?
We've seen Nanamis cursed technique slice up Mahito, he did more damage to Dagon than Maki swinging around a special grade tool, he is a completely self-sustaining fighter who doesnt rely on anything complicated like Mei Mei to deal with all situations. Even if we gas Bird Strike up to special grade level, Nanami also one-shots her with his CT, and hes doing it simply while scrapping hand-to-hand with her while she has to hypnotize a bird to get the same result, who doesnt have Nanamis speed. I mean what Nanami can stop Mahito from touching him but hes not dodging a crow pulling a Kamikaze? Wheres if Mei Mei wants to use her Axe, she is inevitably getting ratio'd and then what is she going to do, RCT? Hell, unlike Nanami she doesnt even have Black Flash or the ability to use a Simple Barrier which is why she has to drag her brother around to be considered Grade 1. The answer in this video was that she keeps fighting with one arm... which to mejust sums up the gymnastics you have to pull for this fight to be fair. Nanami was the peak of what a regular, non-Zenin clan, non-special Grade 1 Sorcerer looked like.

Come down to if nanimi can close at the end of the day. Nanami beats the shit out of almost anyone up close. If he can't he probably gets pecked to death.

And if we go with lore, a binding vow with ones lifeforce should be extremely powerful , most likely powerful enough to kill most things. Whether or not Nanami would even get hit is the question here.

I haven't seen enough of Mei Mei's feats to say she will have a clear win. Maybe 6/10 for her ranged ability, but Nanami is smart he might find an environmental way out of the bird strike. Nanami has fought multiple disaster curses and can deal damage to all of them, but won't win solo. I can't see Mei Mei beating any disaster curses by herself either. She needs more fights to really determine how strong she is.
The two disaster curses he fought didn’t consider him a huge threat though. They were actively not trying. In fact after the first attack on Mahito that he landed he never landed a hard enough blow. By the time we get to the rematch he straight up can’t even damage Mahito while in overtime. Which really just puts them even more on par with each other. Nanami was losing the fight to a baby version of Mahito who had no domain.
Nanami isn't beating a full potential disaster curse. None of them
The only disaster curse Nanami ever dealt any significant amount of damage to was Mahito back when he didn't even have a domain.

Mei mei physical stats and axe equalize nanamis physical abilities and his curse technique deals strictly with physical damage. Mei will see absolutely everything on the battlefield with her crows. So nanami immediately at a disadvantage. He won’t be able to surprise her. And she’ll be able to attack with the crows from any angle and at range. And it’s literally stated the crows are not anything to play with, only gojo survived. Nanami loses easily. And don’t say any dumb shit about nanami outsmarting her. He won’t, she’s a schemer and high battle iq character just like nanami.

It's like you guys said, it just comes down to the birds, physically we literally don't have enough information about mei mei strength other than her reaching her peak, which is vague....on the other hand we have multiple info for nanami, such as being compared to shibuya yuji in striking strength, being as hard as a rock, causing a 2.0 lvl earthquake feeling with his attack. So physically he has the advantage due to lack of sufficient for her, but her CT will be the defining factor IF it can hit, there's no saying whether he can react to them all, and her statement about gojo being the only person to survive is kinda iffy too...like will it one shot yuuta too? What about dagon?....I think there might be exceptions

I wish we knew how hard birdstrike hits. We don't even know the durability of the special grade she fought. Technically a special grade can just be higher than grade 1 or performs more weirdly than a grade 1 would.
Idk man maybe a ratio to the bird is able to like cut it in half and send the 2 halves to his left and right MAYBE big maybe, however I believe that the statement about Yuji and Nanami being close in striking power is talking about basic attacks not ratio, I don’t see Yuji evicting limbs from ppl like Nanami does with ratio

Nanami’s technique has more applications. Imagine if he did another binding vow which inflicted crits on himself from his opponents for more power, or was more creative with his Collapse extension technique. Using his environment to create AOE attacks could set up off-guard ratio attacks even if the AOE doesn’t land

I think nanami is a lot physically stronger than most give credit because he’s not flashy like a meat head character like todo - and he’s not cocky/arrogant like a evil villain character like sukuna
The crazy thing is that she couldn't have replicated the toughness showing against the lucky guy, Mei Mei would've had to slash him quickly and cut the talks because the lucky guy's blows would've done damage to her body, unlike with Nanami's.
I think he is really weak because gege put multiple times in the manga and anime that you can only be strong if you care only about your own goals. Sukuna said to jogo that he lacks resolve. MeiMei only cares about herself which makes her stronger

The manga quite literally says that MeiMei has achieved the absolute peak of whats possible for an average sorcerer through cursed energy reinforcement back when she refused to use her technique, as in were straight up told that she enhanced her CE reinforcement so much that it wasn't even possible for her to improve any further from it. She either matches or outright DOMINATES nanami in close range combat

I don't understand why don't nanami use any special grade tool. That will effect his ratio technique. It can cause more damage.
A fun thing you and NoOperator could have mentioned is that even in the Hidden Inventory Arc, Chapter 65, Pre-awakening Gojo offhandedly mentions that MeiMei from then is strong

There's a huge margin of error with Grade 1. The gaps in strength in that rank are second only to Special Grade.

As someone who not read too much of the manga I'm a bit confused as to why it "isn't even close" when the entire arguement is just 'mei mei is op with prep time'.
Like yeah, if I decided to wait until John Cena was sleeping and I had a knife, I'd like my chances but it says nothing to if I could beat them in the ring.

Now they are downplaying nanami. I think nanami will win. He first took attack from dagon then jogo and still manage to survive and lastly mahito killed him. He is one of the best close fighters.

He got his eye gouged out by the SHIKIGAMI (not even Dagon himself ) and Dagon literally said out loud that he was only diverting 30% of his power to Nanami and spent most if the fight exchanging blows with Naobito meaning that he did not view him as a threat whatsoever
We also literally said that MeiMei has achieved such a high level of Cursed Energy reinforcement back when she refused to use her technique that it was quite literally impossible for her to improve because she already reached the peak of what an average sorcerer can get out of cursed energy reinforcement
Gege himself said that Gojo is the only sorcerer whos capable of surviving Bird Strike ( this statement will include Nanami by Default ) and even Sukuna himself made an active effort to avoid MeiMeis crows during the Shinjuku fight meaning even he thought they'd deal siginifant damage if they landed
Genuinely don't understand what Nanamis win cons even are in this fight, you can't even claim he dominates her close range because like I said, we were already told that she filly mastered comvat with cursed energy reinforcement.
Nanamis greatest " feats " in the show are : 1. Almost getting killed by a newborn Mahito without a domain nor even a full mastery if his technique yet and thats WITH his 120% overtime boost, 2. And almost getting killed by Dagon who wasn't even mainly targeting him
So here’s my thing. What is nanami can use something to kill the birds before they get to him?idk if it was ever discussed how fast each bird is but the smallpox curse stood relatively still since they were all in his domain. So if it’s just moving as fast as a CE enforced creature it shouldn’t be moving so fast that nanami couldn’t smash the nearest building with collapse and chuck rocks at the bird from far away. If the bird can’t fly it can’t blow up if the bird dies on impact it only blows up the rock. He did it to mahito and he is smarter than a bird. There’s also no reason to believe that nanami couldn’t counter by hitting the birds weak point itself mid air since the bird needs to die to blow up I think. All in all not close is a lot. Also ui ui could get separated from Mei Mei easily if nanami can put enough debris between them via collapse. Plus if she’s ever distracted ui ui would be killed easily.

I don't think a bird strike will instantly kill him, as he could probably pull off a move like Hakari and sacrifice his arm with a binding vow and i do think he's smart enough to do something like that. However, the problem is he'll be going into the fight with 1 arm down and she'll have have more options at her disposal afterwards.
i respect your thoughts on this battle but i do belive that nanmi would win because he also know about mei cursed techinces and if you are involving her brother then he mostly probably trie to knock him out and he most probaly try to stay away from the birds but i think battle would be a really close one as nanmi and mei will not be able to hit each other but i could be wrong what are your thoughts ?
Mei Mei maxing out her physical stats doesn't nessecarly make her relative to nanami when the fact thay you can Amp yourself with ce and the fact that nanami could still have higher base stats than her in general and nanami scales above or relative to a yuji with ce despite the fact that megumi placed non ce yuji above Maki who even without her heavenly restriction in full forced was maxed out well beyond what is humanely possible should safely put him above meimei Stat wise espically since we don't have any actual solid feats for meimei outside of fighting a special grade who we had no idea of its strength so it could be anywhere between the finger bearer megumi fought to Dagon or even jogo in terms of raw stats and strength and even then nanami can still be argued to scale above yuji and the only reason they're even implied relatively in the first place was in a fight where nanami attacks were useless against a opponents haxes also the whole arm argument was kind dumb saying she could hold out with one arm unless she has reverse ce that I forgot about or something else she is going to be dead in minutes assuming nanami only lands that one hit also nanamis ability doesn't Amp his strength so saying they took his ability into account with the strength statement is kinda dumb since his ability is more along the lines of limited durability negation not Stat enhancement of any kind

My issue with Mei is all we have from her is one isolated fight and statements she says herself, about herself.
Like sure she maxed out her physical stats and cursed energy manipulation, but that only got her to Grade 2 anyway so it's not overly impressive.
And in her fight vs the smallpox deity (whose scaling is also ambiguous), she had two conveniences in having her brother and a bird stuck in the domain, and yeah ishe won ni surprise there.
On the other hand Nanami was compared to a physical beast like Yuji, beat Mahito despite being hard countered, and when he went into Overtime it wasn't even a fight, it ended instantly, him tanking 30% of Dagon's sure hit is miles impressive than anything Mei has ever done.

Is It really said she was a grade 2 before the technique mastering? From what I've read she just says she bloomed into the realised grade 1 she's currently. Meaning she could have been a grade 1 earlier alredy just not a fully realised one, wich i find most likely as maxing out stats is not a small thing. She could casually cut a member off a special grade without her technique too so yk🤷, most likely she was alredy a grade 1.

I think that's the thing. We have a good idea about Namami, while Mei Mei is so mercenary she never does anything unless she's paid for it, and if I recall correctly bailed from the Shibuya arc after her fight and hasn't done anything to help recently. Infact, when she turned up in the latest chapters I actually had to go back to recall who she was.
I mean, I understand that in universe she's meant to be pretty good. I mean, basically on par with most of the other major players but I don't think that really gets communicated over to us by action. Which is fine, her character clearly didn't make an impression on me.
Edit: Having revisited her history, I can see why she doesn't leave an impression on me. She's probably one of the most selfish characters in Juju, which probably means she fit's Gojo and Sakuna's life lessons well. She's strong enough and just does what she wants; and generally is unaffected by events because she will simply con her fellow sorc's out of money while forfilling the word, not the spirit of the contract. It's also no mistake that she was the only grade 1 to level that event completely unharmed, so her selfishness is generally rewarded.
Fun as a character, but I kinda feel she is a non-factor when it comes to recent events. She is probably on par or exceeds Namami, but I don't think she would ever take a fight where the outcome is in question. It's just not in Mei-Mei's nature to take risks like that.

not to mention Mei Mei has no relevant speed feats especially in the reaction department considering that she wasn't able to react to the sure hit technique of the small pox domain. where we have nanami keeping up with and combing attacks with the second fastest sorcerer alive.

As much as i love Nanami, Mei mei is shown with much more experience, comparable physical strenght and speed to the strongest of the series and her cursed technique is more poeficient i dont see Nanami dodging thousands of birds that were stated to be dodge just by someone on Gojo’s level.

I somewhat disagree, Mei Mei Defiantly have the advantage with the birds, but Nanami knows that, and can use his extension technique "collapse" to use a wide range of rubble to close the distance and take out the birds. Not only that but Nanami is able to break Mahito's arm PRE overtime, so I think with the combination of rubble he can take a limb off like a to limit Mei Mei's combat ability. In conclusion I think this battle is a lot closer than you think, and especially with experience from death swarm I don't think it would be too difficult for him to focus on the birds and Mei Mei being he could combat a 30%swarm of Shinigami with sure hit effect.
Question : could nanami use ratio on black bird itself to counter it?

just a correction, mei mei was careful with the cursed spirit because only 1 bird was brought into the domain of the spirit, that's why she's being careful. And bird striker is certainly not her 'trump card.'

You are overlooking something very obvious and it's that the small pox deity has vastly inferior durability to the Diagon curse.
The small pox deity had its limbs cut by Meimei before she killed it with the bird strike. If Meimei herself could cut through the curse then the bird's attack carries less weight.

I have a question why didn't mei mei used her bird strike to destroy Sukuna's domain barrier when he used domain against maki, choso and yuji. That could be such a easy way of burning out Sukuna's cursed technique rapidly and do non - recoverable damage to sukuna when he is without his CT.

Considering Mei Mei's bird strike was able to absolutely wipe out a special grade, I think that suggests it would probably work on your average grade one. Special grades have a lot of diversity in terms of toughness, but I wouldn't be surprised if Mei Mei had used her bird strike to take out special grades before(especially when you consider that Todo has fought and taken out special grades).
Every grade 1 can take on a normal special grade and win mid diff, but mei mei no diff was still impressive

Mei Mei knows Nanami, and she would use all his psychological blocks against him. She would put Ui Ui between her and him at every point and force him to have to attack and potentially kills a 12 year old child just to get to her. Bird Strike would not be the issue. The issue would be that Mei Mei is only interested in Mei Mei and doesn't care what it takes to win, and Nanami would be trying to figure out how to get this child out safely.

According to the current Manga Gojo didn't survive being hit by it he dodged it or infinity blocked it but Mei Mei alluded to it being capable of killing Kenjaku, Sukuna(true form), and Gojo if it hit any of them.
Mei mei implied that it could damage them if they choose to tank it. Bird strike isn’t a one shot to characters like gojo and sukuna

And gojo survived the domain first by having crazy durability then using rct right away, he used simple domain for a little while then stopped using it while constantly still getting bombarded with the domain slashes while having rct on, and a good amount of those slashes he didnt even use rct, he just 100% tanked it, he used rct on his burnout ct instead of his wounds, meaning his durability is insane. If he doesnt dodge bird strike he'll do the same thing, tank it then just use rct to heal
