What If Nanami Reached His Full Potential?

  • Nanami is one of the most well liked characters in all of Jujutsu Kaisen, and because of this (and his competency as a grade 1 sorcerer) I wanted to see what exactly he could do, if his potential was fully unlocked. Much like I did with Geto and Kokichi I'll be hypothesizing how he could improve his capabilities as a sorcerer overall, all in order to answer the question... What If Nanami reached his full potential?

I'm not done the video yet but imagine for a second Nanami unlocks Cursed Technique Reversal through RCT and instead of creating a weakpoint upon the 7:3 ratio, he creates a super durable point along his body or sword at the 7:3 ratio that with training would be effectively impenetrable. With accuracy like Nanami he would be parrying anything. I'd imagine someone coming in for a big attack and just hitting a brick wall of reverse ratio would open them up extremely for a counter attack lol just a thought

That's the thing that I've noticed about nanami as well , the guy is already a solid example of how strong a grade 1 sorcerer should be , but he unfortunately never went above that level simply because of his mindset , like broken ronin said in this video the themes and narrative of jjk has always been about going over the edge being greedier and selfish and even going crazy sometimes, however we never see that from nanami because he's the strict serious type of person that always looks out for others more than himself and always prioritzes other people's lives instead of his own which goes against the very same logic of being a sorcerer hence why he's limiting his potential

I think that a good domain expansion rule would be if he and the opponent could only strikes in the ratio techniques so it becomes a fair fight. Or instead of overtime boost he gets a deadline boost. Just like hakari's domain, he gets a boost for 'x' amount of time and every hit is a weakpoint. After the time passes he gets burnout (reduces his CE output to 30% for example).

    • @dren5810
      @dren5810 9 месяцев назад +25

You cooked with this! I think the burnout doesn't go far enough, not only does he burnout but his domain shatters. This creates a sense of urgency and forces both nanami and his opponent to make every strike count. Had the idea that coming into the domain gives both fighters a flat 15% bonus to CE/ damage output and for every consecutive hit along the 7 to 3 they get an added 5% with the max being 50%. Any attack that fails to be along the ratio has its damage completely nullified. Should Nanami succeed in stacking these attack bonuses he then goes into double time. This would take that 50% bonus and double it giving him an insane damage boost with the added feature of every hit being considered along the ratio. Would probably limit that boost to like 2 minutes but for that 2 minutes Nanami is godlike within his domain. All he needs to do is meet those conditions first.

I think that one very natural way for Nanami to scale went pretty overlooked. Nanami's technique allows him to draw lines on his opponents bodies, creating a weak point on a 7 to 3 ratio, but there's nothing stopping him from creating two lines, one along width and one along length. If he struck the point where these ratios converged, it stands to reason that he could multiply the two crit damages together. I think a cool maximum technique for Nanami would be extending this the the third dimension, allowing him to create a single point of weakness inside his opponent's body, which if hit (even with a wide range cursed energy punch) would start damage at the maximum ratio point and expand along the lines of his ratio. Bro could literally shatter his opponents.

I think the biggest thing with nanami is that he didn't try and bend the rules of his technique. his technique is dividing something into 10 parts and markign a weak point in a 7:3 ratio inherently right?
but with a bit of creativity just cut one of those 10 segments into another 10 segments and mark a weak point there. theoretically you could do this infinitely which would let nanami strike anywhere to create a weak point

An idea for nanami's ratio technique: Ratio Triangulation
Nanami creates multiple ratios that overlap at the 7:3 point, causing a more powerful critical hit, however it does use more cursed energy the more points you overlap, this would give nanami harder hits to dish out, and make him even more threatening especially during overtime when he has buffed CE output

While I believe he would already be trying to achieve it due a frustration with himself for “never being able to reach it”, I feel he would most likely have one specific incident in which he has to either protect himself or someone else, potentially a student, and would have a Megumi-esque moment where he pushes beyond his limits and activates it for the first time.

i think another way nanami could become stronger is through changing the interpretation of his technique and its application. say he uses the 7/3 ratio on himself when being attacked and his opponent hits a strong point on him making their attack do less damage kinda like the inverse technique and would also act as a sort of binding vow as it opens him up to being hit critically so that would allow for him to negate more damage if the critical spot is not hit

He could even learn the batto sword drawing ( I'll call it bsd for short) along with simple domain, since he does have a bladed weapon, speeding up his attacks.
So his fights would end up looking like
revealing one's hand (+ ~5% ce, it was never stated tbh) > simple domain bsd > land black flash with 7/3 technique
and since he was able to land 4 black flashes, stating that doing multiple black flashes consecutively is easier since you go "in the zone, he could then *repeat* this sequence and deal even more damage thanks to the 120% maxing potential boost, so an extra 20% ce basically.
Without overtime, and taking the lower amount of the vow, he ends up with:
    80% (overtimeless) + ~5% (roh) + 20% (bf) = 105%
so he'd be fighting at basically slightly better than his base stats.
BF damage dealt by him with max CE would be equal to:
    2,5 * 105% = 262,5%
compare to a max black flash at base, which is only 250%, 16,2% is nothing to scoff at.
Now, if we consider overtime... oh boy
    120% + 5% + 20% = 145%
    BF damage
    362,5%
(we are not considering crit damage since it is not stated how much it is)
and he did a total of 4 bfs while amped, meaning he could deal
    312,5 (first non bf attack) + 362,5% *3 = 1.400%
basically, him hitting you with 4 black flashes in this state is like if he hit you 14 times with max ce.
And this is all with something that for him could take like... what... 1 week of good 3 hours a day training at max to perfect.
Note: calculations may be wrong, I did not try and calculate all possible percentages, since Gege did not state which % effect takes priority first
Note 2: the reason I put revealing one's hand at 5% is because that's a good enough number that it would be worthwhile to use, while at the same time, wouldn't have everyone constantly use it. Gege never stated this increase too, but I guess it varies based on the amount of information given to your opponent.

I think that his potential is being greatly understated. As we saw with Naoya’s technique the the essences of a technique can change greatly in a domain. Within Nanami’s domain I believe there would be a perfect 7/10 ratio created on the body of all enveloped. If this spot was hit by Nanami himself it would cause instant death similar to Higuruma’s executioner’s sword, the caveat being that the ratio’s bullseye is an extremely small area on those effected.

I like the idea of golden ratio, I think the way it would work is under the name of 'crunch time' instead of 'double time', essentially compounding his overtime bonus every number of minutes according to the golden ratio. His baseline would increase from 120% to 172.8 after a minute, then further to 207% or 'roughly twice' after 2, then again to almost 2.5 after 3, increasing indefinitely (although in effect you would probably never see any increases passed 21 minutes because fights in JJK tend towards being minutes rather than hours and he would probably win or lose by that point despite the power levels being a bit over 5 times. There are just some matchups that he won't win because his baseline can't deal with them, he would never actually beat Mahito unless he had some cursed item that targets the soul for instance.)

His mindset definitely wasnt creatively set for it but there couldve been so much to see. But other stuff he could do would be something like making a binding vow to reduce damage if he hits another point that’s not 7:3, in exchange for more damage if he does. And maybe use it the other way around, make a 7:3 on HIMSELF and then when the opponent hits another point he takes less damage.

Really love the idea of double time being an enhanced version of overtime. Expanding on the domain expansion you thought up I think it would also fit well if his ratio changed slowly and was something he had to "work" for instead of just being a given. For example it starts with the same old dividing his target into 10 lines and him hitting that 7:3. Then once he hits an attack with that he can divide his target into 5 lines where he has to hit 3:2. Finally he would get to the point where his opponents entire body is a weak point. I also think giving him something to even the odds against the stronger opponents would be useful, something like each person inside his domain "clocks in" with a set amount of cursed energy and until double time hits they can't exceed that amount. I think this fits well because if his opponent just sits around and does nothing double time will hit and Nanami will get a massive power boost but if they try to go in it is a much more equal fight and would need to be careful of his ratio's.

    Damn this editing was clean
Looking back, Nanami, as an adult at least, did seem to have the mentality of a “weak” person.
His cleaver and necktie clearly had some sort of binding vow, I’m assuming because he didn’t have enough confidence in his technique and CE reinforcement.
The glasses were because curses can get mad if you look them in the eye, so he was weary of angering his opponents.
Even Overtime is a reflection of this, saving his power during work hours so he doesn’t “burn out”, not willing to give it 100% all the time.
I think it would’ve been awesome if Nanami got a moment where he said “fuck it” and just ditched the tie, the cleaver, and broke his binding vow and decided to just throw hands with Mahito.

Relentless Deadline: When Nanami opens his domain he automactly goes into overtime, and every hit is ratio. But insted of a clock, it would be a pannel saying a task for Nanami to do (like hit a ratio attack, hit your enemy's arm, dodge an attack, things like that), and every time he complets a task within 30 seconds, he gains +20% overtime boost, if he fails he loses 10%, to a max of 200% and a min of 80%.

his binding vow is that power ups OVERTIME is him not using more than 80% of CE during the working hours.
so what if he developed a technic which kind of reverses the rules where he go and uses all of CE in a short amount of during his own domain expansion which greatly amplifies his physical abilities to an extent on par or something similar with Toji/Maki's heavenly restriction and basically makes any points within the 10 segments of his ratio is a weak point except for the 7/3.
calling it UNDERTIME would be perfect since by using this domain, he is expected to finish the job in a couple of mins instead of concluding to 9-5 working hour shift.

  • @jamesjameson11

I feel like if he had a domain expansion it'd superimpose an infinitely fine grid (Think of Naoya's domain) on the opponent that allows him to hit multiple 7/3 points in one hit (maybe not necessarily a guaranteed hit but nearly a guaranteed kill) It wouldn't increase his CE output but it'd make the usage of it extremely efficient in that the same output would be exponentially stronger in the domain. For an even greater FU to the opponent it might be called [All-Nighter] where it DOES increase Nanami's CE but even more so than overtime while also forcibly making his opponent drowsy or even forcing them to fall asleep, taking one hit before they can wake up

I actually really like the domain you came up with. It woud be so voo to see nanami periodically get more angry with each double time barrier he reached. I do think that the amount of time it takes for him to get there is too long. Not even hakaris domain last that long, I think that time should be sped up in that domain, after all this is supposed to be where he has the absolute advantage. So i stead of it taking so long to reach it, how about the buff is only kept after the domain goes away, If he reached more then one stack of double time.

"The definition of a sprint is a dedicated period of time in which a set amount of work will be completed on a project. It's part of the agile methodology, and an Agile project will be broken down into a number of sprints, each sprint taking the project closer to completion" - google
