My knees hurt just watching this…someone needs to sponsor this lady with a tiller. Bet you could perform miracles with it and generate mega sales for them too💕. I felt your frustration with the weeds, makes my tiny garden problems seem very insignificant. Thanks for inviting us into your home and life!
It is hard work but worth it, I wouldn't trade it for anything, one day I will get on top of it haha. I have been looking at a tiller, but they are far out of my budget currently. A sponsor would be great though! 😊
@@carolgeurts8075 if you mulch as per Charles Dowding virtually no weeds to pull I tamed rampant kikuyu with this method. I have 1 artificial hip and another due. Hello Stacey, Thank you so much for taking us on a farm trip. My gosh there is so much work for you to do, I don't even think I would last, just feeding all the animals. And I must admit, I would be hopeless on a farm, because I would be playing with all the babies !!! I know how you feel about all the weeds. they are relentless. They always seem to grow faster than the plants. You are doing a wonderful job, and I think the wool bits from the sheep is a fantastic idea, it also has built in fertilizer, Win Win. Take care and stay safe. have a good week. 🦘🦘🦘
And and that is how I weed my in-ground garden. On my butt! Your farm looks great! It is so beautiful. I would love to visit New Zealand! You got loads done, by 2:30 I'm done and ready to work inside. I stopped pushing myself and instead set limits. Anytime between 2 to 3 is quitting time. Mulch, mulch and more mulch is the way to go. Use whatever you have. The wool could go around the strawberries as well. Grass clippings are good also. 🙂

I feel your pain with the weeds. My garden has just romped away with weeds but my thoughts are the same as yours, one bit at a time and I do half an hour and some sit down activity for an hour then possibly another half hour in the garden so on. It will happen but won't look beautiful. Take care Stacey =-)

I am amazed with what you achieve on a daily basis with your challenges. Sweeping, baking and housework can make my condition worse. To think you have farm chores as well wow. You are an inspiration with a very generous heart. Hope your daughter is doing
@@FarmersWifeHomestead Sorry to hear about your daughter. Having had pregnancy troubles in the past I know how scary it can be. Glad she's got her mum to support her. By the way, I edited my comment and somehow left off the word better at the end, glad you got the gist lol. Take care
Good morning from Pukekohe! Good Girl Trix ❤. Thanks for sharing your day with us. A big day, not over with the end of the video. As for the garden, one day at a time. It will be ok. ❤❤❤❤❤
@@FarmersWifeHomestead If I had it in the barn like that, then I would definitely lay it down in my garden to keep the weeds at bay!! Cheaper than going out to buy bales of sugar cane to do the same job which is what my brother does. I used to put newspapers under my mulch when I had the bigger gardens but these days we don't get newspapers delivered anymore. Though if I was still able to garden I would use some of the many boxes that come in the post instead of paying to depose of them. Since we had the high winds come across the eastern side of Australia a few years ago, bringing the dust from the interior of the country, we are now growing weeds that like yours are a menace. It is so disheartening.
Stacey, have you tried to use heavy duty sun screen to stop getting hives from you meds while out in the sun? Some medication information sheets suggest it. My sister has the same reaction with here meds and always forgets sunscreen when the sun comes out for the first time after winter. As for the strawberry beds, try putting down several layers of newspaper (if you can get ahold of some) or cardboard to suppress the weeds. You can put it down now and the weeds should get smothered out with very little effort. It's not very pretty, but affective.
I loved this video! It was so lovely to see and hear the animals, and you did a wonderful job of putting it all together with the editing and the music. But ooooh those weeds.... I feel for you. Mulch, mulch, mulch, everywhere, and with anything. I'd be dragging all that wool down for sure, straw, leaf-matter from your woods, whatever you can find to suppress the weeds, and any that do happen to grow in the mulch will be easier to pull out. Big sheets of cardboard in the walkways, several on top of one another. Don't let those weeds beat you down 😂.
Great video, Stacey ❤ I would love to see the farm..We had a lifestyle block for many years and have recently moved back to town, but I do miss our animals, views and large vege garden.Tried your tuna dish with panko crumbs and the grandies thought it was amazing!!😊 Take care from Clive in HB😊
Think the sheep wool will be good to keep weeds down. Mulch is the answer and easier weeding there after. Cardboard helps too. Think keeping the hoe going once mulched. Just the other day after putting yams in I chopped compost and cut grass chopped up with sheers and put around bed to help keep weeds down. Even when weeds do pop up easier to pull. I do find wild buttercup bit of a pain when left too long. Really do need to get roots out.
What a beauty day outdoors - cool video. What a beauty your rooster is too - he reminds me of looney tunes Foghorn Leghorn. You deserve a nice cuppa and a bikkie after all that work
You achieved so much! You are awesome Stacey. My beloved late parents, (actually all of my ancestors) grew up on farms in Italy, and although here they immigrated to the suburbs of Adelaide, (10 mins out of the city), they bought a house with a huge block and created a mini farm. I loved it growing up, and miss it. I really LOVED this video too. Take care of you. Sending you lots of love xx Teresa 🇦🇺♥
You must have such amazing soil, those weeds are growing so well! Love your content. The farm land reminds me of Tasmania, my old home. I live in Brisbane now.
Hi Stacey, love love love this video.......the wee goats and lambs and the rowdy rooster all getting in on the act. Loving all the farm sights and sounds, and you rocking those Redbands again girl! Can't wait to see some more farm footage, but rest up for a wee bit or you will be too worn out to enjoy the summer xx
So overwhelming, I've been in that predicament and I must say the Digger I saw in the other video would be calling to me, very tempting to save what you can and clear garden lol, it's so hard weeding around small plants.. I miss farm life except for weeds and rodents lol..
✨🙏✨love that you shared your work day✨🙏✨I can smell the soil .. the animals and just love the sounds ✨🙏✨ my beautiful grandparents lived and worked the land ..in Northland NZ.. I’m so great full for their hard work… Home schooling, no electricity 🐖🐑🐄🐓and never complained ✨✨✨✨🌱🌱🌱🍃🌸🌸🌸🍃
Hi Stacey, I enjoyed spending the day with you. What a beautiful place you have. Have you thought about raised beds? I have serious back issues, and I am considering converting over to them. Less bending and weeding. God bless
I live on a beef and sheep farm in NZ also and I totally understand the feeling of being overwhelmed about weeds in the garden. I am always battling grasses and clover, and now we have bindweed trying to take over. Having the wooly dags for mulch is so useful. Once they would have paid for the special treats for Christmas but now they are worthless, except to us gardeners.
Thanks for taking us along. Drown footage cant wait!! And take haeart the garden will come. So nice to see the spring. Up here we are deep into fall here🇨🇦 hugs.
Love this Stacey! What a lot of work, and I'm jealous of your boots lol That lilac is gorgeous! 💜 keep on inspiring, little bits do add up, you're a rock star!
I'm finding raised beds are so much easier to maintain. The cardboard layer keeps the weeds out and thick mulch (seriously envious of your dags!) means that watering is far more effective and easier. Just put in one at a time. Or consider the straw bale gardening if you have any leftover or manky bales on hand.
Hi there Your far. looks so green & lush. However weeds do grow too. The diffinition of a weed is "a plant growing in the wrong place." So you have lush green grass growing on the farm & lush green grass-weeds growing in your garden. We could easily see the amount of work you have done on your garden. You did a lot of work today. Don't beat yourself up about it -one can easily see the progress!
Thanks Stacey, i always enjoy the farm life vids. I feel for you, what a big job you have on your hands, re the garden weeding, i have a lot of garden to keep up and i find doing a bit each day is the only way i can keep the weeds at bay. Good luck with your gardens😊
I truly did enjoy your video. I enjoy all of them. I have Rheumatoid arthritis so I do feel your pain. I am now at stage 4 breast cancer. I am in California USA. You DO Inspire me. I have been meaning to send you a message on here for some time. You are a Blessing! Keep teaching us!
Love the light Sussex roo hes a beaut! I weeded the strawberry patch just the other day, i have a bad hip and i just got an old compost bag and scooted on my bum as i went along lol. If you cant do great big things, do small thing greatly😄
Isn't he gorgeous. I tried hatching 12 last year, but the terrible mum got off the eggs 2 days before they were ready to hatch. My friend advised me to pop them under another hen. They had been cold for over 24 hours and I opened an egg and it had died. You wouldn't believe it, but they hatched. I got 5 live chicks, but he is the only one to survive. I am trying to pop him with my 2 remaining light Sussex, but he just keeps breaking out of the hen house, lol. 😅
Loved your video, boy you work hard!keeping the garden areas are such hard work, almost never ending, but you can’t win at everything and veg gardens are notorious for growing weeds extra fast it’s hard to keep up with it all ,but you do a great job especially with your bad knees and the heat ,be very proud of your achievements every day makes a big difference.Stay strong .❤
I’ve been there and totally understand how you felt😔. We plan out our gardens, have a vision on how it would look, make a start, then life steps in and everything gets put on the back burner. Can be quite overwhelming… but you’ve made a start and good for you. Well done Staci🤗 loved the video🙏
Oh my! You have such a busy days. Hope you get enough rest too. Thank you for sharing.I know Stacey is modest so I want to mention this for her. I got notification in my Inbox from nzherald and it had a lovely article of our Stacey (from NZ Womans Weekly. It was so nice to read it. Cheers
Thanks for sharing Stacey. You’re so productive with your time. Maybe you could invest or make some raised veggie beds. They’re easier on your back and knees and also better for weed control. Hope you got to put your feet up :)
Hello lovely lady, Not sure if you remember me, I had a knee replacement in June, so I totally understand how you are suffering with your knees.....the pain is constant. You are a brave and hardworking lady, I admire you so much. On the brighter side having the room to grow fruit trees and veggies, must be rewarding gift. Sending always lots of good wishes for you. Keeping a large garden can become all too much, bit by bit is the way to go, before you know it garden is back under control.
I love your videos and I truly understand your frustration with your garden. I, too, have a garden of weeden! It overwhelms me, too😢🌸 Love from Mangonui
Stacey, so lovely to see the green grass (yes weeds too) and hills of my childhood. As someone who is bone on bone in one knee and the other not far behind I know all about getting things done early, then resting up to tackle dinner but there is no way I can garden. The hot weather is already upon us here in Central Queensland so another reason to get the jobs done early. Well done Stacey. 🌏👍
Manky old wool blankets with holes cut in for the strawberries. You can find wool blankets dt op shops, but they're hellish expensive in good condition. They sometimes have mank old ones for next to nothing. Also old carpet works well, but check that it doesn't have acrylic warps in it, because those are hellish in the garden.
Hi there, I'd dug some strawberry plants out then cover the garden in a tarpaulin, let the weeds die, then replant your strawberry plants. Or get some vegy bins built make life a lot easier. Or you could save some plants and spray the whole garden. Good luck.
I used cardboard to smother the weeds in the areas around each garden . Works great. So true little by little each day I try to go out in my garden and p ull a few weeks . It’s always harder once it gets away on you. Thanks for sharing you life with us Stacey.
Yes, I usually always use cardboard as well. Unfortunately, I haven't got to it yet. I have started saving up a big lot of them though. Fingers crossed I can get back to it soon.
Wonderful video, thank you for showing us your DITL. I know it will still grate on the nerves just seeing everything that you want to get done but you will get there. BTW, I made the tuna casserole with the (properly crushed as per husbands instructions) potato chips. Such a simple meal to put together but oh so yum. Thank you for the reminder of a meal from "back in the day" .
Hi Stacey Hope u read this I couldn't help but notice in the garden you said needed weeding with the kale and potatoes in it looked like you had caper Spurge growing please be careful I had this growing in my horse paddock and it is known for causing allergic reactions which it did to me it burns your skins causes blisters and skin to swell and is terrible for eyes can cause blindness please be very careful from one farmers wife to another.
Good morning Stacy. I love seeing your farm and all your animals. When you spoke about the sun and your meds. I burst into tears. I FEEL YOU. ❤ I understand the frustration. Thankyou for your videos I love watching 😊
Thank you so much for sharing your day Stacey. I enjoyed it immensely. I hope you’re able to get the rest needed so you don’t overwork yourself. Hugs friend
I am amazed with what you achieve on a daily basis with your challenges. Sweeping, baking and housework can make my condition worse. To think you have farm chores as well wow. You are an inspiration with a very generous heart. Hope your daughter is doing
It’s a lot to juggle currently, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. My poor daughter is on round three of going into labour in three weeks. 😊
@@FarmersWifeHomestead Sorry to hear about your daughter. Having had pregnancy troubles in the past I know how scary it can be. Glad she's got her mum to support her. By the way, I edited my comment and somehow left off the word better at the end, glad you got the gist lol. Take care
Loved every second of that. Thanks Stace and Trix. Your piece of paradise is just glorious ❤️
Good morning from Pukekohe! Good Girl Trix ❤. Thanks for sharing your day with us. A big day, not over with the end of the video. As for the garden, one day at a time. It will be ok. ❤❤❤❤❤
Yes, it's definitely one day at a time in the garden 😊
Fantastic mulch dag wool 😊
Yes, it is such a great idea to use dag wool for mulch, I wonder if I should cover the whole garden haha
@@FarmersWifeHomestead you've got enough, why not?!
What a lovely garden, really enjoyed watching this
Love your day on the farm!!
Great ideas thank you heaps. The newspaper will be perfect!
such a beautiful homestead 🌲🐐🌲🐖🐓🐥🌲🏡🌱🐥
I loved this video! It was so lovely to see and hear the animals, and you did a wonderful job of putting it all together with the editing and the music. But ooooh those weeds.... I feel for you. Mulch, mulch, mulch, everywhere, and with anything. I'd be dragging all that wool down for sure, straw, leaf-matter from your woods, whatever you can find to suppress the weeds, and any that do happen to grow in the mulch will be easier to pull out. Big sheets of cardboard in the walkways, several on top of one another. Don't let those weeds beat you down 😂.
Thank you, I will let my daughter know you enjoyed it. She is doing my edits now. She does a great job of it, and I truly appreciate her help ❤️
What a lovely photo of u 2 in the Herald. Love the sunnies. 😊
@@JoRutten-zh1vj thank you 😊
Great video, Stacey ❤ I would love to see the farm..We had a lifestyle block for many years and have recently moved back to town, but I do miss our animals, views and large vege garden.Tried your tuna dish with panko crumbs and the grandies thought it was amazing!!😊 Take care from Clive in HB😊
Such beautiful property
Thanks, it's our little slice of paradise.
What a beauty day outdoors - cool video. What a beauty your rooster is too - he reminds me of looney tunes Foghorn Leghorn. You deserve a nice cuppa and a bikkie after all that work
He does have a bit of a Foghorn Leghorn personality haha.
Wow! What a beautiful story, I am so glad you loved the video 😊
Thanks so much, I will try to get some more farm footage soon. 😊
So overwhelming, I've been in that predicament and I must say the Digger I saw in the other video would be calling to me, very tempting to save what you can and clear garden lol, it's so hard weeding around small plants.. I miss farm life except for weeds and rodents lol..
✨🙏✨love that you shared your work day✨🙏✨I can smell the soil .. the animals and just love the sounds ✨🙏✨
my beautiful grandparents lived and worked the land ..in Northland NZ..
I’m so great full for their hard work…
Home schooling, no electricity 🐖🐑🐄🐓and never complained ✨✨✨✨🌱🌱🌱🍃🌸🌸🌸🍃
Loved the viedo
Love this Stacey! What a lot of work, and I'm jealous of your boots lol
That lilac is gorgeous!
Hi there
Your far. looks so green & lush.
You are so right, weeds are just plants in the wrong place! Thank you for your encouraging words :)
Thank you so much, I am sending you lots of love and hugs XX
❤you did very well. ❤
Thank you :)
Nice video, love the chicks and animals talking
Great vlog ❤❤❤
We are so blessed to live in New Zealand 🇳🇿 ❤🙏
We certainly are :)
Progress, not perfection! You will get there💜
Thanks for the encouragement, I will get there one day. :)
I’ve been there and totally understand how you felt😔. We plan out our gardens, have a vision on how it would look, make a start, then life steps in and everything gets put on the back burner. Can be quite overwhelming… but you’ve made a start and good for you. Well done Staci🤗 loved the video🙏
Well this just made me homesick
Oh my! You have such a busy days. Hope you get enough rest too. Thank you for sharing.I know Stacey is modest so I want to mention this for her. I got notification in my Inbox from nzherald and it had a lovely article of our Stacey (from NZ Womans Weekly. It was so nice to read it. Cheers
Thank you for your kind words, I appreciate you sharing that. :)
Love your dog. What a busy day. ❤
Thanks for sharing Stacey. You’re so productive with your time. Maybe you could invest or make some raised veggie beds. They’re easier on your back and knees and also better for weed control. Hope you got to put your feet up :)
My favourite tool for weeding is an oscillating hoe - very easy to use even if you have physical challenges. I'd wished I brought one earlier.
awesome! looking forward to watching this
Hello lovely lady, Not sure if you remember me, I had a knee replacement in June, so I totally understand how you are suffering with your knees.....the pain is constant.
It's hard work but so rewarding, I hope your recovery is going well and yes, I do remember you as well :)
Good morning from aucks ...
Good morning :)
I love your videos and I truly understand your frustration with your garden. I, too, have a garden of weeden! It overwhelms me, too😢🌸 Love from Mangonui
It's a weed-fest for sure! I'm hoping to get on top of it soon. Garden of Weeden!!!! Hahaha I LOVE that
Stacey, so lovely to see the green grass (yes weeds too) and hills of my childhood. As someone who is bone on bone in one knee and the other not far behind I know all about getting things done early, then resting up to tackle dinner but there is no way I can garden. The hot weather is already upon us here in Central Queensland so another reason to get the jobs done early. Well done Stacey. 🌏👍
I hope you are feeling ok. You don't realize how important good knee health is until you lose it.
Blueberries like a set ph. Of soil.
Yeap my soil is perfect for blueberries :)
Good tip, thanks so much for the advice!
Thank you ❤
Wonderful video, thank you for showing us your DITL.
Thanks so much, I'm glad you enjoyed it. Had a wee giggle at the properly crushed chips
I’m having treatment for breast cancer. The pain fatigue and concessions we have to make but you are absolutely right. WE HAVE TO LIVE. Love to you I find you so brave and such a warrior. Be kind to you.
I'm so sorry to hear you are going through this, but you are incredibly strong. I hope you are finding some moments of joy and peace too. ❤
@@FarmersWifeHomestead all good Stacy. I’ve learned we are ALL going through something. You are an inspiration
