Maybe dedicating one square to a wheel coating would be a good reference point for the impact of heat since they're formulated to withstand the extreme heat in the braking system.

As a suggestion, shall request if you can include the NASIOL ZR53 ceramic coating in the next test. They make really tall claims and for the price, seems too good to be true.

Found out this week that Meguiars is discontinuing their Hybrid Paint Coating. That sucks because that was a great product that was dead simple to apply.
Fascinating the effect the acid had on one of the best performing coatings in the test; NGNT.
Goes to show that it’s not a one-size-fits-all case of decontamination for coatings.
Also strange that NGNT claims high resistance to the entire pH range but got knocked off.

Dang. I just happened upon this test. In middle of doing a full paint correction on my 16 year old Guards Red 911. Using Sonax ultimate cut, followed by Perfect Finish, then a quick coat of CarPro essence (to mostly just prep for the C quartz ceramic, just the consumer stuff, nothing super special). I’m several hours in and getting ready to do the Essence stage (then let dry for 24 hrs prior to ceramic). After spending all this time, perhaps I should reconsider using one of the top products reviewed in this video. Doesn’t look like my version of C quartz is reviewed here, but these are newer and more pro line offerings, so I expect that these would be better than mine).
For the weekend warrior who has no more than 2-3 cars, it's hard to argue against Meguiar's HPC in its aerosol form. Traditional ceramic coatings start to harden as soon as you open them. You can keep HPC on standby when panels start to weaken.
I'm going to try this HPC out.

Yes IGL premier coating seems very hydrophobic to water. But at my own experience, if the reason is raining season and even wash every 4 days with pH neutral shampoo, the black water spots and stain is terribly much. Those black stains no longer can be washed with contact wash. So i assume the dirt repellency is very very bad, hydrophobicity is fine, and the slickness is none for me. No slickness even by touching it.

Nice testing. Have you had a chance to try DinoWax Ceramic Serum? It’s pretty inexpensive $25 for 2oz maybe we can see that in a test. The owner said he formulated his own coating. So hopefully it could take a beating.

Nano bond is resilient to time, and chemical decon washing. NGNT looked best until the aluminum brightener chem knocked it off the hood.
+1 to the “clogging” hypothesis based on how some can bounce back after a decon wash. There will be different best decon methods depending on what is clogging the coating (road salt/brine vs water spots, vs traffic film, etc) and will be coating dependent.
It’s pretty obvious there’s no one right way to decontaminate these coatings and certain coatings can respond well (or poorly) depending on the chem decon product.
NanoBond wasn’t phased by the alkaline or acidic product.
Unclogging is pretty temporary and the coating will like be completely failed soon after.
I'd love to see if cquartz uk 3.0 would have lasted. Can't decide between that vs nano bond 9H....

I wonder if hood color plays any part in consistency aspects for things like nano bond. Awesome thanks for long term results.
Other than maybe the radiant heat absorbed/reflected vs a black hood. I see about 20°F lower surface temperatures on this hood compared to the black hoods.
The aluminum ones (all are steel except the 38 way test that ended last month) tend to absorb the heat for longer, but don't get any hotter.
@@ScottHD I think the age of the clear coat has some impact, in my experience products tend to last longer and perform better on newer cars vs one which are 7+ years old.

Maybe decon wash and hit the panel with Meguiars Ceramic Detail spray to see if Hydrophobic properties can be revived

It's basically slightly more intense "wheel acid" - It was suggested to me as another option to bring some back (and it has proven that it does work in some instances)

Thanks for the video. It looks like these coatings are put through the harshest conditions. Some of the cars might not go through these conditions. Will the life expectancy be greater if they are properly taken care of? 3-4 washes per month and yearly maintenance?

Scott, with the life being so short do you feel ceramic coatings are really worth it?
If the vehicle is garaged, it'll last longer - stored outside? The spray sealants/coatings are far cheaper and easier to just reapply every 6-12 months instead.
Surprising that the copper / aluminum brightner knocked out NGNT, the predecessor of Diamond Protech. Might Diamond Protech (currently heavilly hyped by some other detailing channels) have the same vulnerabilities? At right time in test, perhaps that cleaner could be used on some of the pro coatings to see what happens?
Diamond Protech is the same product as NGNT. As far as distributors have been told, it’s the same product.
CQuartz professional line performs worse than CQUK. Interesting.
I don't think i've seen any youtuber do this many coatings on their own personal car that is driven and taken care of like it's supposed to be. Maybe this could be something you try on your own car and wash it once a month.
also, I hope you aren't using iron remover and wheel brightener in direct sun as wheel brightener would eat and damage clear coat on hot panels....aka strip off anything due to heat accelerating the product.
I bet if you hit that panel with some water spot remover some of those panel spots would come back. They’re probably clogged to hell.

Hi Scott. I come here after using the Nano Coat based solely on this review... I am finding that the nano coat is not slick like I was expecting. Does it need a topper? Can you give me some light? Thx
I wouldn't mind seeing you just keeping this test going but just leave it alone for 6 months to a year and do a normal wash test and then clay mitt. That way you don't have to keep washing it every month.
I can maybe do that. It is currently leaning up against a shed behind the shop right now.

@@ScottHD If you do, can you give a closeup inspection of the surface to see if any look different than the control as far as spotting, swirls/marring, and gloss if you're feeling frisky. I know it may be hard to tell on this color.
What's NGNT+ in Diamond Protech?
Look a video or two back on the one I did about NGNT and how they relate to the product released for the market.
Does anyone have a KISHO coating on their vehicles? I just applied it to my car. Seems exceptional so far, wondering about longevity.
Also if anyone used it, did it darken your paint? (3 layer, 701,811,901)
901 is a beast it’s every bit as good as Cquartz uk the 711 and 811 are not good
I've tested some of their original stuff and it all did quite well. I bought another one (I think 811?) on Amazon and I think it was a fake one... didn't perform well at all.
@@ScottHD I got kit from KISHO direct. 701 and 811 goes on easy, looks good, but 901, lot quicker flashing, even spraying with distilled water, and I think 901 made paint darker, still experimenting on other panels

Also some spots on windshield where I rested wiping rags, right in wiper path too.

I think it has to do with the jittery of his camera. The Optical Image Stabilization needs to be improved with these videos.
