You have helped put my fears at ease. I first learned that I have the MTHFR mutation almost two years ago. Homozygous and had my son tested with the same. The dietitian who gave me my results scared me to death!! She said “YOU DO NOT METHYLATE!” I obviously have it pretty bad and I’ve been feeling real bad lately. But I’ve gotten back on all the supplements I was given by that clinic. It’s very expensive but well worth it to know this is real. You definitely explained it better and I’m slowly learning and understanding more about it. Thank you so much! 😊

Your videos about histamine intolerance have been eye opening and so helpful. Thanks for working so diligently and seriously on the gut biome issues.

@@drrajsree For a layman the CDC page "MTHFR Gene, Folic Acid, and Preventing Neural Tube Defects" seems to contradict with the info in this video:
"5 things to know about the MTHFR C677T variant and folic acid
People with MTHFR C677T variants can process all types of folate, including folic acid.
Folate is a general term for many different types of vitamin B9. Folate includes naturally occurring folates in foods, such as leafy green vegetables, citrus fruits, and beans, and several types of folate in dietary supplements, such as folic acid and 5-methyltetrahydrofolate (5-MTHF). The MTHFR C677T variant affects how your body processes folate. You might have read or heard that folic acid is not safe if you have one or two copies of the MTHFR C677T variant. This is not true. Even if you have one or two copies of the MTHFR C677T variant, your body can safely and effectively process all different types of folate, including folic acid."

Hello! My MTHFR mutation is C677T C/T and 1298C A/A. I feel like I have been affected immensely. I did go through a year of heavy perimenopause bleeding while taking Omeprazole. I was unaware of the MTHFR gene at the time. So double whammy on the nutrition level. I have and have had so many symptoms. My entire life: ADHD, Depression, and anxiety. I’ve always felt tired. I’m 50 now, but starting in my 40’s brian fog, GERD, IBS, worsening mental status, skin issues (eczema, dandruff, dry skin, and more), headaches, asthma, worsening fragrance sensory issues, high cholesterol, weight gain, and more. Carbs put me to sleep. Dementia like memory. I could go on and on. Never successful either anti-depressants. They make me sleepier. Tons of sinus headaches. Thick mucus that gets stuck in my nasal passages. Lately, increased irritability and anger issues. I’ve also had a blood clot in my leg that went to my lungs. Been under anesthesia for three different knee surgeries in a two year period. My bones don’t feel very strong. It hurts to sit after a while. I’ve had several hemorrhoids in my late 40’s. My factor VIII is high (or was). I did become anemic and was told to take B6 and B12 plus iron. And I feel like I have low-grade neuropathy in my feet. Possibly my left hand when I sleep. I’ve got other things falling apart or aging quickly as well. It’s so much!
I’m exhausted over all of this. I’m ready to fix it. I live in Kansas City. I don’t know what/who to see who will believe me and run all the labs to check all of my histamine, adrenal, hormone, nutrient labs. Any suggestions?
Part of me just wants to order all the supplements and change diet and just go for it. But I prefer to know exactly where my levels are because I don’t want to keep paying and taking something I don’t really need (for the rest of my life).
Any advice on what I should order, what I should do, and what doctors I could see in Kansas City who believe in the MTHFR being the root issue to any/all of this? Thank you!

Wonderful video, but I want to point out one consideration to keep in mind. On top of the MTHFR and MTRR genes, another one to keep an eye out for is COMT - which complicates the process a bit if you have.
COMT, like MTHFR, has numerous functions I won't go into; but relavent to this video & MTHFR positive individuals is it affects the 'treatment plan' since Methylcobalamin isn't recommended (and methyl-donors in general for that matter)
In terms of vitamin b12, hydroxocobalamin is generally seen as the best / most accepted form for individuals with COMT; or COMT + MTHFR. The issue is its not super bio-available in oral form, so you might have to speak with a health care provider about higher doses; sublingual doses; or injections
Alternatively adenosylcobalamin also supposedly works, but my knowledge is thin on that specific varient.
And then in terms of what form of B9 / folate to take, I'd also recommend speaking with a HCP since it complicated the process, depending on what combination of genes you are (homo vs hetero) and your individual response. Some do fine with methylfolate, some require lower doses, some require alternative forms. I'm not your HCP so I won't be making any recommendations on that.

I have suffered from migraines (magnesium helped cure those), anxiety, depression, and low energy on and off for years. Now I know I am MTHFR C677T heterozygous and currently take the Methylfolate, however my doctor wants me to go to a Vascular Specialist to make sure the supplements I’m taking work in conjunction with my hormonal BC before I stop taking BC and start trying for children. Hi, I recently completed a Genomind Pharmacogentic Report (24 Gene) and one of the many defect genes I have was the C677T: C/T. My doctor recommended taking L-Methlyfolic and and exercising since antidepressants don’t work for me. The L-Metyfolic worked right away (next day) but only worked great for about a week. I don’t feel my doctor knows anything about the mthfr, so it leaves me doing my own research. Do you feel having my homocysteine levels checked it will give me an idea on why the folic stopped working? And if my homocysteine is very high, will the Methyl CPG, be a good option?
When the Methlyfolic worked for me, I felt so normal for the first time I can remember. I really want that feeling back. I felt happy and very sharp for the first time ever.

It took me forever to clearly understand this concept and even now, as a citizen scientist it’s difficult to grasp the chemistry of it. I guess that’s why this brilliant lady is a doctor and I’m not.!! lol…. I don’t consider her a regular doctor though. She has a much deeper understanding of metabolic health. Which is everything!!!!

Hi from New Zealand. Great information thanks. A gentle observation.... because it is quite scientific I had to concentrate to take it onboard and found the music really distracting . I would love to just hear your beautiful voice alone so I can focus more ! Million thanks

Is there an option to read a transcript? Then you could mute the sound/music 😊👍

This is a nicely explained introduction to the topic. For those of us who are scientifically inclined, could you point us to some sources in the literature to back up the points you made in the video, particularly any studies demonstrating association of MTHFR mutation with the symptoms you mention, and/or effectiveness of b-complex supplementation for said symptoms? Thanks!

Love your videos. Very well explained. Very calming. Wish I were back in the states. Can't even get my kids bloods done here. Doctor said there's no reason. Despite the diagnosis of heds/pots, methane sibo and now having histamine intolerances /mcas. Mood changes, extreme fatigue
