- Neopixel sabers with blades are now available in my store:
genesiscustomsabers.com/?page...
To use the powersaver option follow these steps...
1.Buy a micro SD card and format it
2. Make a copy of your SD card onto the new card.
3. On the new card, delete the file named "override.txt"
4. Still on the new card - rename the file called "override - powersaver.txt" so that it will be called "override.txt"
5. the new card will now operate in the saber with the powersaber settings.
I'll post a link here to the CS4 manual when it's available.
Parts to make your own neopixel blade will be available at www.thecustomsabershop.com Развлечения
How has Disney not hired a guy like this. Those seems so much more amazing brighter than a galaxys edge saber
Disney isn’t doing it for quality, they are trying to mass produce those galaxy’s edge sabers, so they can sell more, and make more money
it would be amazing if disney had neopixel blades
I agree to an extent, but I also have to say, the Galaxy's Edge sabers are GREAT for what they are. Affordable, accurate to the props, and also very very simple to understand. I love the saber building community, but let's get this straight, it is a MESS to try and understand at a lot of points, especially for a random person. It is extremely intricate, and yields great results, but it would lead to a lot of confusion when it comes to a simple and fun theme park experience. Being able to simply put in a blade and twist it, and now you have a lightsaber ready to go to explore the world is a great technical feat, and it makes it accessible for everyone. And if people who buy the Disneyland sabers are wanting more, they can come here and learn how to program Pixel blades and everything else to make what they want from scratch.
@@willhamilton297 maybe the case. But since LGT have come on the scene, that's changed alot.
You can get a neopixel blade saber for £130 in the UK and USA can get same for $160 from crimson dawn or darkwolf sabers. They are rgb, multiple sound effects and light effects.
Compared to galaxy edge sabers which are more expensive, usually single colour blade, dimmer blade and single sound effects, it's a no brainer. Galaxy edge and hasbro black series are obsolete compared to what's in the market now.
@@adamduffield7782 I guess you’re right about that, I more just meant the methods of programming and assembly, no small screws or button prompts or anything, keeping it simple, but undo know what you mean and I think you’re right.

Wow, I've been out of the saber scene for a while. Tech has jumped so much!
I'm scared of what it would cost for what i want
Feel the debt flow through you.
😂😂 don't make it worse than it already is for him 🤣✌️☯️
Dooo what must be done
What do you want?
My bane mk2 with neopixel was like 528
Hopefully, I can be one of this guy's 4 customers per year in the year 2026. The site is Perma sold out.
😂
OH COME ON I REALLY WANT ONE REEEEEE
fr i kept checking all year
Considering the still awesome brightness of the powersaver mode over a traditional LED I'd be totally happy to leave the saber set up as much, hope to purchase one of your pieces soon!
Wooooaaah I'm so excited for these parts to come in. It would be great to know if it'll be a pre Christmas release though. Thanks for the trailer here Rob! So very excited
Great info, quick and to the point!!
Hello there
Thank's for talking about the battery life. I was wondering about that.
Sooo every lifesaver iz a green lantern ring??
awesome idea with the battery saver mode.
I got 2 RGB and 2 neopixel blades just last month to break into lightsabers and see for myself. My StarKiller Proffie shows up today between 7-9, I cannot wait. Exposed kyber crystal and all, one of my favorite sabers ever along with the obvious ones. I gotta get collecting now, Ive been doing other items and now that they are built its time to get a lightsaber collection
Dude youre like an icon to me keep up the good work
have rechargeable batteries and backups while the spent ones are charging.
That shirt is absolutely perfect
gonk
Dude my man is cracked at stop motion!
That jedi beard though
Thank you soooo, sooo much for making a quick and relatable guide/FYI video on Neopixel blades. This video really pushed me to buy a lightsaber (going to, need cash xD) because I really love the effect of a pixel blade but really want to duel with it as well and this video really helped me understand the whole grade of blade thing. Again, Tysm and have a good day
You're welcome
@@MadcowGenesis soooo these lifesavers needs to be charged like a green lantern ring and can't dual hard? Or da cost.
I wish I could afford one of these
What is the exact combination of led used in for the colour of the tri-cree led teal from the beginning, and which resistances did you used with which colours ? , if you remember , that would help me a lot trying to build my first one .
Great video Rob🖒
Meanwhile with my 2 Mu Cephei sabers from Zia sabers 😩 I did get a third one from another series but it was disappointing by comparison. Can't wait for a saber that's bright enough in daylight to look the way this neopixel does at night (assuming there isn't already one)
I was worried about the dueling aspect, but I really want one of these now!
gamers in a container you can’t duel with neo pixel blades
@@Diskriminate He said in the video that they're just as durable as the old blades.
Dude these sabers are 🔥. He should do a giveaway on his RUclips.
Thanks for the video, nice :)
600 for a lightsaber ? I better be able to actually kill somebody with it 😂😂
Look at another youtube channel where his lightsabers go for $5000 pounds, the attention to detail is beyond staggering , no one else does lightsabers like MB sabers, unfortunately they are insanely expensive as i could buy a real authentic hand made Japanese Katana , but honestly i still would buy it if i could afford it
You can get them way cheaper from certain companys like es sabers in europe and crimson dawn in the us
@dude look at her butt H90 delirious I wonder why all the sabers are out of stock then.
@dude look at her butt H90 delirious Most companies in general only make a couple hundred. The non lgt resellers that is. These are fully custom made lightsabers, none of the lgt stuff. Of course it's going to be high priced and sold out. One of my favorite companies literally had a restock and sold out in 2 days because of how beloved they are. If you can't afford them, be like me and buy from crimson dawn for proffie cores.
@dude look at her butt H90 delirious That's just blatant ignorance. These sabers don't do everything LGT sabers do, because LGT sabers barely do anything. They're the barebones side of the Lightsaber companies. You get what you pay for.
With his company you're not just paying for the electronics. You're paying for labor fees of around $200. You're also buying a fully custom made hilt, not a lgt resold hilt. Everything is custom fitted.
Go to the pach store, you can see plenty of sabers going for $800 that do more or less the same, the reason some sabers are priced so high is because of the aesthetic and design. Sure you can buy a profile saber doe $400 bit why when I can go to Vader's vault and buy a $2000 saber that has a way more detailed aesthetic?
Where's your argument? If you can't afford it then don't buy it. Instead of hating on it because the prices are high and giving a rubbish advice that means nothing to anyone.
glad i saw this
omg this helped so much... giving 5 stars on Yelp

My pleasure.
Great info.
Oh I love that like rotj snap on ignition sound. What sound font is that?
Hero sound font.
very helpful thanks
I’m no expert on neopixel Vs RGB (tri-cree), but neopixel sabers are slightly heavier in weight than an RGB lightsaber due to the lights embedded into the blade. Whereas the RGB is lighter, because the lights that are in the core, while the blade is hollow
Honestly I own a ultrasaber I love it I barely use it and it isn't flashy I dont use it for much expect practicing but if you dont have it on like for 30 minutes straight you should be good I habent bought mine yet but my friend owns one so I kinda know what I'm talking about and there overall a great buy its spendy but perfect for a star wars fan like myself when I first heard about sabers like this I thought it was unreal I bought a ultrasaber pretty it was the mid teir one around $200 usd anyways I loved the saber it was bright and I loved it but it lacked what I wanted that kylo ren smooth swing right when I seen that baby light up and heard that swing my life because meaningful again I remember as a kid id make the noises with my mouth no more I say ive been saving up for one im only 16 years old so if I can do it you can too ive wanted one for 2 years now and im getting one hopefully on Xmas anyways to conclude my comment get the neopixel just do it if you dont like it just sell it and get a cheaper one but you won't wanna trust me
IT IS SO BRIGHT.... 😱
How about fitting a 26650 battery(5000 mah) instead of an 18650(3000 mah)? that would add about60% battery life, and maybe minimize sound cracking issue due to higher curret output rating. Or, is the 8mm too much extra diameter? Just wonder if the bigger battery would fit in the hilt. I want to build one of these from scratch like an actual Jedi would. (Yes, I am aware Jedi are not real.) Also, I want to go with a Luke ROTJ version with crystal, sounds, and Neopixel.
It would depend heavily on your electronic setup as well as the ID of both your empty hilt and whatever chassis you would use.
How much more battery life will "power saver" yield? Best guess please?
There are quite a few draw backs in addition to cost that has been holding back purchase.
It's really impossible to say. There are variables like what blade colour you are most using etc. But if it's not saving enough you can change the values to save more power.
never bought a lightsaber before however if I was to buy one I would want to have it obviously highly durable but also I f#%$ing love how bright that is so gorgeous however I think it should be standard to have the power saver feature as a preset even if I have to pay abit more but as a question of curiosity can I buy fully custom from you/them? I like to think out side the box for lightsaber's not just the thought of what's cannon and what's not meaning if I wanted a black unstable crossguard with a curved hilt and a red unstable saberstaff that can twist apart and become 2 would it be possible?
Anything is possible. But I do very few full custom commissions...
genesiscustomsabers.com/?page_id=15583
Hey I have a question, I got a saber from dark wolf the blade that my saber came with it’s bright and nice but I was wondering is there a way I could get it brighter or a brighter blade ?
I'm sorry - I can't answer that. There are many variables, and I don't know anything about their work.
I was going to do a neo pixel conversion of a galaxy’s edge saber and was wondering if it will still be useable for just a calm fight not full on baseball across the universe hit
I can't comment on those particular hilts, but the blade should hold up fine.
Cool. Makes sense the blades cost allot more, just hope saber builders dont keep their new hilts the same high price! Cos the bulbs and circuits etc are in the blades.
hmmm... shorter battery life...... a proto-saber design could fix that X3
Fuckin truuuuue
I just wanna know if any of the LEDs in the blade might break from dueling
It's possible. But the LEDS are actually quite strong. It's more likely that a wire contact might break with repeated heavy vibration.
Rob, what do you think of the Naigon's Igniter 3 sound board? have you messed with them at all or have an opinion about it?
I have not tried them. I use Plecter Labs boards exclusively.
As duelist I keep the standard blade
What’s the battery life on the Neopixel
Are the neopixel blade significantly heavier than the RGB tri-cree blades? Since the Tri-cree are just normal dueling blades (non heavy dueling).
170g regular blade, 200g neopixel
What does: Prm RGB Sound Only mean and TCO-metal PremiumSd ??? Thanks!
Sorry. I do not know what you are referring to.
Will the neopixel blades be sold at TCSS
So I’m considering buying a neopixel anf was wondering where’s the best place to buy one and does a blade come with the purchase of the hilt
I like to think I am one of the best. I do not sell blades separately but I do with the sabers. Creed and Ascend will be back in stock soon.
genesiscustomsabers.com/?page_id=819
If I got the Plexer Pixel RGB Blade, would I be able to switch it back and forth with other blades like the non pixel blade?
Yes - if the hilt is set up for those blades.
What things are the power-saver mode turning down/disabling to make it last longer?
With the CFX it's as simple as lowering the blade brightness in the menu.
How do I find out what sound boards/PCBs support Neopixel blades? I’ve tried this in Google, and cannot seem to get an answer.
You can ask the supplier. You can also check on the manufacturers websites.
With the neopixel blades can you see the individual LED strips whilst it is on?????
Depends on the blade construction. Most good blades are diffused so you see a more even light, and not the strip.
Going out for the day the to the park with my light saber
I'd like to know what's the name of those connector (0:39 sec), and if it can be use it on thin neck sabers
TCSS will have a variety of connector adapters to work in all of their parts.
Would this deter robbers or impress them?
I just wanted to know if they came with blades. Like, if you order one, do you get the hilt and the blade in one?
You can order a saber either way.
With or without a blade.
Hmmm, just realised the crackling could be used for a cracked kyber crystal lightsaber
I was also thinking of this when he said it, like Kylo Ren's lightsaber
Where do I go to build my own custom lightsaber? I don’t know anything about this stuff but I’m interested
Welcome!
Start at www.thecustomsabershop.com
can i use this on a disney world star wars outpost savis workshop saber?
You would need to install all new electronics.
would the power saver mode work on my neopixel from vaders vault
You can now change the blade power in the menu.
Do you think an industry standard change from 18650 or so sized cells to something like the 26650 batteries could be on the horizon? That would certainly fix the battery life issue.
Unlikely due to size. I expect better 18650 cells in coming months/years
I am going to use Orbtronic 26650 Protected 5200mAh. It will fit but tight in my Saberforge ASP host. I will let you know how it works out. Love your videos!
Obviously Protosaber style packs are the answer. :)
Not 26650 as its too thick, but something like the 20700 or 21700 is more likely. It's only marginally thicker in diameter (still thin enough for MHS parts) length is about the same as a protected 18650 but overall volume is enough larger that you get decent additional capacity. They're what Tesla is moving to for their electric cars.
Perhaps removable batteries are the way to go.
Have a bunch charged and spare, so you can swap over after dueling, then keep going.
Also one more thing can you make it’s so it turns on slowly up the blade if you know what I mean
Yes, it's in the CFX manual which you can DL from Plecterlabs.com
Very cool, i started with ultrasaber and was let down hard after 4 what a waste. I have a Vader's Vault plecterpixel and I'm very happy. I believe I had look at Genesis customs was very impressed so I'm going to buy 1🙋♂️

I like this! The saber industry continues to evolve at this rate and we'll have real sabers in a few years. What's the wait time on a GCSS saber? I'm new to this hobby but my first saber, which I just recently acquired, was delivered 18wks+ after I placed the order. Painful!! Is this a common wait time for a custom saber?
eric fuehrer 18 weeks is way to long.
If I can't ship a saber in under 8 weeks I won't list it as "in stock". There's only a wait list for custom work, that is over a year long.
Well I'm placing an order with you. Thank you sir!
Rob will take care of you, he produces high quality work.
Thanks Rob! What is the ideal battery for NeoPixel?
I'm still reviewing what other have discovered. For me - no matter what a product boasts, I wait until I hear how it performs in our unique applications.
Is the neopixel blade the brightest hilt on the market one can get or is it to compare with photon blades like which one has the brighter hilt?
Neopixel is the brightest IMHO
@@MadcowGenesis Could you do a comparision clip about a neopixel blade vs. Force fx hasbro blade lightsaber. I would want to to know the difference of brightness in them. They both have LED in the blade but still i would want to know how big is the brightness difference.
@@theswissaviationenthusiast5229 I do not have access to an old fx saber. But the difference is remarkable.
I use to want to make my own neo pixel blade because it has a cool looking effect but the more I thought about it, it just seems like a gimmick that isn't even realistic so now I have decided to just stick with the standard single led to illuminate the blade because using the standard single led method is already most like a true light saber since a real light saber would emit it's blade at the speed of light it should appear almost instantly the same way as flooding the blade tube with a single led. I think what people have been wanting is the ability to not have anything attached to the saber with it being able to emit a light as in to have something come out of it but having the light "come out" with an led string inside an attached up kind of defeats the real desire people have so I think it sort of got lost in translation and the pixel saber was created to try to satisfy that craving to have something "come out" of the saber but it doesn't really because there's still a long tube attached.
But it's cool as fuck tho
Lightsabers are made of plasma not actual light so the ignition wouldn’t be instantaneous
They're made of light, not plasma.
Where could I get a good neopixel capable/ pre-installed vader saber??
I'm not sure. I do not make repicas for sale.
I'd buy one because it looks so cool, but the battery life issue is a deal breaker.
Same
Rob would it be too difficult to install a Neopixel into "Revan's Last"? I like the way the blades work on the Neopixel but I am unsure on if its worth changing
It would require a major step down in the sound card as the Crystal Focus does not yet support Neopixel. Plus the battery style in your saber would be very short life with neopixel.
Okay thanks. Just making sure. I am not familiar with all the pros and cons of theses different aspects in saber changes. As always I appreciate your help and advice my friend

the vader's vault is without the led's but is bright as neopixel, perfect for combat

Okay wait so can you actually duel someone with them like go all out and not worry about the sabers breaking on eachother?
Yes and no...
Yes they will stand up to most duelling. BUT - like any other mid grade blade they can bend with enough force. In the case of a normal blade you've only lost $30 if that happens. With a neopixel blade you would have lost over $150 if that happens.
Something I would like to know is how to get a hold of the inner part so I can make my own it wouldn't matter if it was a neopixel or EFX lightsaber innards I just want to build my own custom lightsaber that is mine and mine alone made by my own two hands but to get the right measurements I would need to see what the interns look like to be able to build the hilt to shape I've already thought about cannibalizing a toy lightsaber and doing it that way but if you have a better idea I'm all ears
Have you checked out the MHS parts from www.thecustomsabershop.com ?
@@MadcowGenesis no I haven't but I'll check it out
You’ll need a chassis to hold the electronics in
A lot of Neo Pixel blades iv looked at, look like they used white blades to defuse the leds. But am I right in thinking that it looks like you have used a clear blade with defusing film? I really like the white core with a coloured edge look of your Neo pixel blade in this video!
Yes. This test blade is made with old MR foam, and then film wrapped inside. We can not get that foam produced at present.
Rob Petkau I'm thinking of making one of these. But just to confirm what order would you recommend the layers from inside to out. Is it LED strip then foam then clear cellophane gift wrap then thin polycarbonate tube?
Correct.
But as with my test blade - the strips will move around inside the blade and you will eventually get broken connections from the strips to the connector. That's one of the reasons I'm waiting for proper sized foam
Rob Petkau Thank you that really helps. Love the way your Neo Pixel blade looks!
Which saber is the neopixel one, the one in your right hand at the start of the video? It looked like creed but I realized the grooves didn't match up.
It's a Vector. An older design I've since discontinued.
@@MadcowGenesis It looks nice. Do you think you’d ever bring it back? (Also, thanks for the fast reply)
@@ds2td Thanks. I have no plans to bring the Vector back anytime soon.
Hey Rob, what about using Tesla's battery? The 21700 I think it was? Any possibility of using that as a higher-capacity high drain battery alternative?
Perhaps eventually - but with something like this it's best for the industry to work out the bugs/issues first
The new Tesla/Panasonic 21-70 (and Samsung's 2170 competitor) isn't available to the consumer yet, but does look promising for lightsaber (as well as flashlight) use.
There are plenty of videos where users destroy the battery packs from their tesla cars, email them and ask to buy a few , simple
They are available to buy! Google Panasonic/Sanyo NCR20700B!
Here's a link to where you can buy them: liionwholesale.com/products/panasonic-sanyo-ncr20700b?variant=30186936017
They are pretty awesome cells! I plan to get some soon! And yes they are called 20700's not 21700's
Those are 18650 cells and not the newer 20700 ones. The newer 20700 cells are used in the Powerpack 2, Powerwall 2 and Model 3 car... The 18650s are used in the Model S and Model X vehicles. The cells they use are called NCR18650B. You can buy them anywhere... Amazon, eBay, etc.
Forgive my ignorance but what does one do with a light saber?
All kinds of things. Play, fight, play-fight, cosplay, display on a shelf, use your imagination!
I know what I have to do but I don't know if I have the money to do it
Do it!
Where can I get a CS4 sound card? I found one on your website, via a google search, but there was no price/buying option. Thanks.
They are not available for retail. Only to Professional builders. The closest equivalent would be the Prizm

Rob Petkau That was my next choice, lol. Just wish it had the spin function. Thanks for the info.
Tres cool bro 😈
Do the neopixels update fast enough for flash-on-clash?
Yes
So if i want to change the color of a neopixel saber do i just have to buy a different blade?
Nope - neopixel is RGB multicolour.
This might help...
ruclips.net/video/gxkfYH2ceAE/видео.html
Do you have to buy the saber and hilt differently
Most places which sell sabers also sell the blades with them
Is there a way to make a powersave on neopixels that aren’t yours?
Yes. You can adjust the power settings.
Help me understand this properly - I had to watch it twice - you're saying the POWERSAVER config only runs the BRIGHTNESS of the blade at 60% of norm?? which is still brighter than others but not full brightness.? Is that correct? so the only difference was the brightness.?
Essentially correct.
Brightness is subjective. It runs the power to the LED at approx %60
What camera and lens do you use? The picture is great!
Thanks. It's just the EFS 18-55mm that came with the camera
Is the camera just a Rebel T6i?
T3i
If I buy your neopixel blade, can I attach it onto any empty hilt with no electronics or sound system inside?
I do not sell the blades separately at this time.
Hey Rob.
I would love to get my first Saber, But I just don't know where to start.
Any recommendations on places for me to start looking for my first saber?
Also I love your saber sound fonts, are they usable in other sabers other than your commissioned sabers?
Hey - Thanks.
Of course my first suggestion would be my production sabers (around $500). But if you want to start basic, look for reputable builders, or DIY with TCSS. I recommend Plecter Labs sound cards. all my sound fonts are designed for them.

Can I get a multi color neo pixel Saber? Or is the multi color limited to the original Sabers you make?

i love my blue neopixel

Has anyone tried the 3M microbubbles yet? I thought they would be good to coat the interior of the blade. A thin spray of clear gloss or glue would adhere the micro spheres to the blade and diffract light well. Heres a link:

It's a good idea as long as it doesn't add weight
Are these blades compatible with a galaxys edge saber?
I do not believe so.
I will never be able to afford a lightsaber like this.
Do you do commissions or know where I can get a 2005 Anakin converted to neopixel
I don't do that kind of thing. You could try the forums at fx-sabers.com
Can you duel with the nexo ones ?
Yes - they will be strong enough for most duelling
How much time the battery would last at maximum settings? Minutes? Hours? Seconds ? Milliseconds ? :p
Most people are finding anywhere from 30 min to an hour
What’s the actual runtime comparison between a neo pixel and a tri Cree?
It will depend on the battery, the colour selected etc. But flat out you might get 40 or 50 min on a single battery with Neopix, and well over 2 hours of solid runtime with a Tri-Cree... approximately.
Rob Petkau Wow that’s a massive difference. Thanks for the quick reply, love your work sir.
Are all neopixel blades the same length and size?
You can get a variety of lengths online nowadays. Most are all the same 1" diameter. My NPX-2 Plecterpixel blades are all 35" long, and only sold with sabers.
Are they compatible with an RGB saber because I was going to order just the blade
As you can see in the video - no.
