Fire Ex's are SOP for ALL war birds with radials and most big engines of that time. It's pretty easy to lose control of a cylinder with those horse power ratings. VERY NICE VID. I started my flying career in 1972 in a '47 J3 when Flaybob, owned by Flavio Madriaga (( forgive my spelling please )) was the first EAA site in America at one time. Scorpion Helicopters and Stitts was there along with Art Scholl at the end of the hangers. I was standing just outside the restaurant when they filmed Robert Redford in the old time Barnstormers movie. I remember moving all the current model planes to the far end of the field and replaced them with biplanes and old cars. It was the coolest thing I'd ever seen and I was only 16 years old. I grew up on that field and flew out twice a month.

Amazing sound , from an amazing aircraft . I do wish personnel nearby would wear hi-vis plus ear defenders . I would be so much easier for the flightcrew to spot him and so much safer .

Looks like starting a DC 3 is kind of dicey one has to keep a fire extinguisher on the ground all the times?
