- May 20, 2017 - Thank You Barry for allowing me to fly in his newly painted Douglas “HIPER” DC-3 / C-47 "Virginia Ann" at the Flabob DC-3 Fly-In
Thank you to my wife Gail for ground footage of Virginia Ann Flying
Video includes On-board footage that I took during Takeoff, low and high speed passes over Flabob Airport and then coming into land.
This is a Douglas “HIPER” DC-3 Yr. 1943 N62CC
This aircraft was built as a C-47 and then on Feb. 15, 1955 was converted by Pan American World Airways to a DC-3 Hiper Conversion, which removed the standard DC-3 P&W R-1830s engines to DC-4/C-54 P&W R-2000 Engines that included Modified Stainless Steel Cowlings and engine mounts from DC-4, also installed what they call is the “Crosswind Landing Gear” which is Heavyweight Landing Gear used by the Military on later versions of the C-47.

My Dad flew one of these in the RAF. I took him to see one at an airshow years ago. I NEVER saw him more happy. I miss you Pa.
Ya I miss my Pa as well, what a great Man he must have been to fly one of these and I'm so glad that he got to see on again before passing. Take care and thank you for sharing your story :)
Thank you for posting. :) Brought back a lot of great memories.
I used to gas up Navy’s C-117 when they flew into my first command. I think they are the aircraft perfection.

The nicest plane in the world !
A true classic for sure, thank you for watching 👍😎

Great looking airplane and excellent camera work. Nice you flew on it! Liked and Happy Memorial Day!
Hello and Happy Memorial Day to you and thank you for watching, ya it was a real treat that I got to fly in this historic aircraft.
I got about a 1,000 hrs on one of these. Super video.
Impressive footage of the mighty DC3 :)!
This Mighty DC-3 has DC-4 engines in it so Mighty is very appropriate. Thank you for watching :)
Thank you for watching 👍😎
I'd love to ride in all the airplanes you've been in.. They're just so expensive.. Haha. Keep up the great work!
Thank you for your kind words and as far as the great work I will try my best, again thank you :)

@@EdWhisenantAviation Sir very respectfully you have a very beautiful airplane. The guys I jump with is from Lancaster TX with the CAF and Airborne Heritage Platoon for my reunions Sir. Personally from me...

Sounds Like A Douglas DC-4
Yes it really does with the DC-4/C-54 P&W R-2000 Engines - Thank you very much for watching 👍😎
I’m the current “curator”, if you will, of this piece of history. The Virginia Ann is on track to make the journey back to England and France this May to celebrate the 75th D-Day Anniversary. You can follow the story of all the C-47s making that trek at www.ddaysquadron.org. You can also check out www.daksovernormandy.com
It was a real job no pills and funny smoke then
我也有三千多秒的飛行記錄喔!
