    Lars Ulrich just gave an interview for Finnish music publication and revealed that he invented polyrythmic heavy metal drum fills. He claims that he never makes mistakes but sometimes rest of the band cant keep up with his meticulously composed rhythmic ideas. He did not want to reveal it broadly in english language countries so he gave the scoop to finnish press.

    • @undefBehav
      @undefBehav 8 лет назад +24

      He has never been "technically proficient". His live performances have always sucked to this very date. I've never seen a show in which he performed all of his parts decently. I don't really mind the drum tracks he's played because it's the live performances where a drummer show his/her true colors. God knows how much editing goes into master tapes to get rid of the imperfections, and I really doubt those drum tracks are done all in one take.

    Bashing Lars Ulrich is one of the most important things metalheads should do. As a matter of fact, the World Health Organization tells us that being a metalhead and not bashing Lars Ulrich is associated with an increased risk for many health issues, such as liver disease , irregular heart rhythms and heart failure, stomach ulcers, brain damage, high blood pressure, dementia, difficulty concentrating, depression, weight gain, and anxiety. Having regard of the above, we should'n forget to bash Lars Ulrich once in a while in order to take care of ourselves and be healthy metalheads. Thanks for the video!!

      What I think happened:
      Lars was fucking amazing on AJFA and the Damaged Justice tour, but years of that kind of energy and complexity must've made the band tired, so they dumbed down their writing on the Black Album and Lars dumbed down his playing style as well, but I guess he just really liked that and got lazy. They played in front of good sized crowds when cliff was still around. And that was a huge step up from small bars. Also he is/was a complete asshole. Especially to James and Jason

    He wasnt BAD per say.. You can just tell he stopped practicing many years ago.. He plays the songs he knows and only plays them at shows.. You know he doesnt sit at home and work on things.. Ive fallen into that same rut. Im a rock drummer and ended up joining a country band and that was paying way more than my rock gigs.. After 2 years of playing nothing but country and the same sets every day I went back to rock and I couldnt cleanly play songs that I used to be able to play in my sleep.. I would imagine its much easier to fall in that rut when youve already "made it" and have millions in your account.. Who wants to practice when you can buy and do anything you want..

      Even after decades of playing, this is what happens when you stop practicing. This is true with any instrument. As a guitarist for more than 40 years, I still set aside practice time (as the old adage goes "if you don't use it, you lose it). Lars seems to have a lazy and apathetic attitude toward his drumming. This is the complete opposite of Neil Peart. The Professor was constantly practicing, studying and exploring new rhythmic techniques and patterns, developing new techniques and adding to his arsenal. This is why Rush was constantly evolving and developing so many new and innovative song ideas. Metallica has been stagnant for years. Their best years were the 80's when Lars played with energy and intensity.

    • @ElTchibo1
      @ElTchibo1 8 лет назад

      @ Cindy Martin-Dixon well the problem is not to do mistakes, but the art of a mistake. Some kick on a wrong part is okey, losing sticks is okey... BUT Lars Ulrich has no rythm time. And when he makes mistake he is not able - what a prof has to do - to continue straight. He has really no talent for a drummer. Some amateur drummers are much more better. This is for Ulrich as a drummer. What is right, is , that Ulrich is a millionaire. So for money he did not make so much failed as on sitting behind his drums. Sad but true :-P
