YEAHHH! PERU HERE TIMOTHEE!
That's right I really like vids because they're entertaining for me.
I still find it amazing that Ke Huy Quan, the star of _Everything Everywhere All at Once_ first rose to fame here as Short Round. So talented, even at such a young age.
He also did the goonies and Encino man.
@@nathancruz9172Very awesome that he won at the Oscar’s 🏆
@@jonathancruz5932 even Brendan Fraser.
I've seen a post on a video about him recently, he's doing pretty good.😊
@@nathancruz9172 and also a classic episode of _Tales From The Crypt_ where he and his friends unravel a local conspiracy between a pharmacist and a mortician.
6:26 Club Obi-Wan get it
They also did this in the original OB-CPO Obi 1 Canobie and C-3PO
Fun fact this movie is actually a prequel as it takes place a year or two before the year listed in the first movie
1 year before.
@@omega311888 I said 1 year or two
So, here's my trivia for this movie:
The location shooting was almost entirely done in Sri Lanka as the Indian government objected to a lot of the script (can't imagine why) As a consequence, none of the villagers are speaking Hindi
On a similar note, the village elder's actor did not speak any English, and learned his lines phonetically; in fact, Spielberg is just off-camera coaching him through his lines.
The snake around Kate Capshaw's neck was real: she'd been really nervous about an earlier scene where the snake would visit Willie while she was bathing, and insisted on using the real snake in the later scene to make up for that.
In that same scene, you can see the elephant eating her dress. It was insured, but they did have to write "eaten by elephant" on the cause of damage line on the form.
Amrish Puri, who plays Mola Ram, was a leading villain actor in Indian cinema, and he liked how he looked in this movie so much that he kept his head shaved for the rest of his career.
To get the sound effects for the mine cart chase, Ben Burtt and the Skywalker Sound team took a trip to Disneyland after hours, and rode on Big Thunder Mountain with all the sound effects turned off, and recorded the sound of the trains rushing through the scenery
The one bit of location shooting not done in Sri Lanka was done at a gator farm in Florida, where they shot b-roll for the crocodiles. You can easily tell that they're alligators.
I forgot one: when they were filmijng the scene with the assassin in the palace bedroom, Harrison Ford herniated his back when the stuntman flipped over him. He had to be rushed to America as soon as possible for experimental surgery; to keep production going, Spielberg shot around Ford as much as possible, which was helped by his stunt double, Vic Armstrong, being Ford's doppelganger, so they shot the conveyor belt fight with Armstrong and when Ford had recovered, they filmed the close-ups.
that scream is known as the wilhelm scream
the indian officials did not like parts of the script especially that dinner scene in the palace.
So they had to use Sri Lanca as a filming Location instead
Wilhelm Scream Has Been Used For Toy Story and Star Wars
I’m late to this but I just wanna mention that it’s cool how you noticed the year this is set in. I don’t think I’ve seen anyone pick that up for themselves in a reaction series. It quickly explains why it doesn’t feel like a “part 2” of the story.
One of my favourite Indiana Jones films, and I love them all haha 😄
Sweet
Excelente video Tim!!!!.... saludos!!

Obi-Wan Kenobi club as reference for Star Wars In Indiana Jones movies ❤ ❤❤❤❤❤❤ I don’t like bugs or insects there gators
Did you know this movie is actually banned in India
Spielberg casted the female lead even though she could not act so he could date her in which they are still married.
I have to admit Willie is not my favorite character especially because of how annoying she is during the movie. Thanks to her, this is my least favorite Indy adventure...
I hate being wet.that makes me wonder how often she baths
Fun Fact: Many have asked why Short Round isn't in the following films and that is explained in the books! Indiana adopted him and sent him to boarding school. When Short Round grew up he became an Archeologist just like Indy!
I totally forgot about the books. Thanks or the reminder of what happened! Was the young Indiana Jones series that was on tv connected to the same lore? I watched it so long ago that I don't remember.
@@ThatShyGuyMatt i’m fairly certain it was connected to the same cannon :)
And he would join Indy on his adventures from time to time, too. My particular favorite being a short comic where Indy and Shorty are up in the Pacific Northwest, investigating Bigfoot sightings, where they stumble upon the wreckage of a familiar spaceship...
There were books?! Where can I find them?
@@stephanniemorin There’s around 20 i think if you just look up “Indiana Jones Book Series”
And this (and Gremlins) is why we got PG-13
That’s what my brother told me all about it.
Some trivia:
Along with the also Spielberg production Gremlins, it caused the American PG-13 rating to be made, due to its content.
It's actually a prequel to Raiders, and thus is technically the first Indy movie.
Dan Aykroyd (Ghostbusters was the same early summer and year) cameos at the airport early in the movie.
Kate Capshaw (Willie) would marry Steven Spielberg. They've been married for 32 years now.
Came to share these, ty friend
Since, 1991
“In another life, I would have loved fighting Nazis and finding the Holy Grail with you!”
-Short Round
19:03 "WE... ARE GOING... TO DIE!" Harrison Ford's delivery and facial expression here never fails to crack me up
You're not alone in wanting to groan about how annoying and obnoxious Willie is in this movie.
The character just shouts everything she says ALL THE TIME! Not to mention she almost gets Indy and Short Round killed at least 3 times, has no purpose for joining them, acts like a spoiled brat throughout the whole mission, and she just never SHUTS UP!!!!!
I SWEAR I ALMOST WANTED TO SHOOT MY TV IF I HAD TO SEE HER SCREAMING FACE, JUST TO PUT MYSELF OUT OF MY MISERY!!!!!
Relax little man . We like her so enough crying
So a couple things I learned is George Lucas wrote this film while he was angry and is his explanation of why it is so dark.
Not sure if you noticed, but on the escape to the plane Dan Aykroyd cameos in the film.
Apparently it was going to be even darker than it already was and it is because of this film and Gremlins the PG-13 rating was created,
One big thing that can be done to fix this film is not have the character of Willy. You drop her and keep it of only Short Round and Indy your film is fixed.
Finally, someone gets it!
Also, never do anything angry: don't go to bed angry, don't drive angry, don't post angry, don't even write angry.
Yep. George Lucas was angry and depressed over his then recent divorce from his first wife Marcia Lucas. Steven Spielberg was also depressed over having then recently broken up with former girlfriend Amy Irving. And yeah, one can definitely tell that their feelings of anger and depression had an effect on how the film turned out…
Fun fact the reason they made this movie a prequel is so they won’t have Nazis in it
That makes sense.
Long before hitting it big with “Everything Everywhere All at Once,” Ke Huy Quan was merely a kid actor who starred in a few movies like this movie and “The Goonies.” Witnessing his humble beginnings through Tim’s reaction makes this more pleasant.
I believe this was also the movie (and Gremlins) that was the last straw for the MPA to issue the new rating we know today: PG-13.
First PG-13 movie being Red Dawn
You either cried or you lied when you saw Ke Huy Quan hug Harrison Ford at the Oscar's this year. If you did the former, I understand.
The Feast scene was meant to convey that there's something wrong about Pankot Palace. Unfortunately the following scene where Captain Blumbertt and Indy discuss this (and foreshadows the British Indian Army rescue) was cut out.
I guess it would've been considered problematic either way
Incredible Indiana Jones movie, very good.
The opening dance number was made because Spielberg wanted to direct a 'Busby Berkeley' style musical sequence. Busby Berkeley was a choreographer who directed Musicals in the 1930s, known for lavish costumes and a multitude of dancers.
Yes, the "Anything Goes" number is very much in the Busby Berkeley" spirit (including the physically impossible second location). The actual choreography was done by Danny Daniels, who had lots of stage as well as screen credits for that sort of work. Another great dance number in a Spielberg film is the jitterbug contest in 1941. In both of those, as well as the West Side Story remake, one of the things for which I most admire Spielberg is that rather than assuming he can do everything himself, he hires people who are experts in a genre and gives them the freedom to do good work.
This is a pretty good follow up to the first. The character I actually kinda liked was Short-Round. “Okie-Dokie Dr Jones. Hold on to your potatoes!”
Great reaction! 😊
This movie, along with the movie "Gremlins, prompted the first two rated PG-13 rated movies.
Fun Fact #1: This was the breakout role for Academy Award winning Supporting Actor Ke Huy Quan(who won this year of Everything Everywhere All at Once) as Short Round.
Fun Fact #2: Director Steven Spielberg met his future wife Kate Capshaw(who plays Willie) while making this movie.
20:23 This is the scene that prompted the PG-13 rating. And it remains the only scene of this movie that's hard for me to watch no matter how many times I watch it. LOL!
Can't wait for "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade" next. That's my favorite of the Indiana Jones movies.
Looking forward to your next reaction. 😊
Poltergeist more than Gremlins
Don’t forget Ghostbusters and Splash. Those movies had way too much adult moments, that do not work for a PG rated movie.
This is probably my favorite one in the franchise especially since I watched it first. Love the dark atmosphere that Spielberg and Lucas brought to the film especially since the villains are not Nazis for once. Future Oscar winner Ke Huy Quan as Short Round, what can I say? One of the best characters to ever come from the franchise, to me he's the only right successor to follow Indy's footsteps. I'm probably one of the few that like Willie Scott, I enjoyed her progression throughout the film.
Once you get to the third film, after that is when the magic truly ends although I have a so so feeling for Kingdom of Crystal Skull. This original trilogy and the first two Mummy films are the only action adventure films I can rewatch anytime.
I am also scared of heights. But Short Round's line 'Not Very Funny,' is a callback to when Willie was knocked off her elephant into the pool of water, when he said 'Very Funny.'
A neat little lore piece in the dinner scene is that Indy noticed the meals served at the dinner were not ones that a Hindu would eat, which increased his suspensions.
So that scene was done on purpose. Still inaccurate.
@@stephanniemorin Yup.
@@sirsamsonian As Bryan D. Hollis would say: "You know what that's called? CRIMINAL INTENT!"
12:57 fun fact those aren’t actually vampire bats they’re fruit bats
Yep.
I knew it! Cause they were way too big to be vampire bats
To be fair, Indy might have been trolling Willy
@@speedracer2008 that’s my theory.
Have you noticed so far that each of the movies tackled a different religion the first movie tackled Judaism and this movie tackled Hinduism.
This was my mom’s favorite Indiana Jones film ever made.
Some aspects of this movie did not age well (the monkey brains thing in particular), but it's still a dope ass movie! While it isn't my favorite--that title goes to Last Crusade--I still really like Temple of Doom.
1. Many folks don't care for this one very much but I do. It's all kinds of fun.
2. Just a small suspension of belief regarding the lifeboat drop out of the plane, and the coal car landing perfectly on the tracks.🙄
IRL Ford could fly that plane.
3. When I was in the US Navy I got to eat monkey (but not monkey brains) and dog in the Philippines.
4, Shortround is "Billy Badass"🤬😎
5. Disneyland already has a "Temple of the Lost Ark" so another one of the ride through the tunnel/mine would be cool too.
6. Kate Capshaw got the Willie gig because she was dating and later became
Spielberg's wife

This movie is my favorite prequel, they filmed in Sri Lanka because India did not want to host a film depicting their culture eating snakes and bugs. Also they actually dropped that bridge in Sri Lanka, and another smaller set in London. Filmography is kickass.
Ke Huy Quan, to quote my mother "didnt play roles. He played stereotypes." I think Im the only Short Round defender in whole U.S. I mean, yeah, it was a stereotype, but he was a kid back in the 80s, he didnt know any better. Not that its an excuse, but its an explanation at least. Willie, though, hoo boy. Id argue shes better off scrapped because she is SUCH a burden on the team. She kinda helps in the end, but in that case, its like Heihei from Moana; that one tiny thing doesnt help all of the times she was a hindrance.
2:12 Its acutally a prequel, so if you are to do this like the Star Wars films in timeline order it would be 2,1,3,4. 5 supposedly is gonna take place after 1, but Ive yet to see where it will fall.
7:32 EXACTLY! God, shes so selfish!
9:22 Freefalling from a raft is actually my biggest nightmare. No water, no convenient parachute, no nothing. Just a loooong drop straight down.
12:36 I dont know if elephants like the smell of perfume. They do have a long trunk, so I dont know if they know the difference between actual hormones and some artificial stuff humans occasionally wear like deodorant and such. From the elephant's reaction, Im guessing the answer is no, but a fellow RUclipsr named Casual Geographic might be able to answer that question.
12:54 Still no. Theyre actually Golden Flying Foxes, a type of megabat that feeds on fruit! You should see them wrapped up in a cute bat burrito!
15:01 I hope to God theyre candy eyes like youd get at Halloween...trust me, Hindu cuisine is wayyy better than this movie portrayed. Theres a lot of interesting stuff if you Google search it long enough. Maybe try some and get inspired! As for me, Ill be making sweets based on this dinner scene, because thats NOT what Hindus normally eat. Example is the monkey brains. Hindus consider the monkey to be a sacred animal, as it represents the god Hanuman, who helps the hero Brahma rescue his wife Sita from the demon king Ravana.
22:51 Underrated Harrison Ford scene that isn't Star Wars related. Dude can really convince you he's under the Black Sleep.
24:14 I'm just now seeing that Short Round is crying when Indy slaps him. *He is crying.* *He feels like he lost his only friend, and that friend just hurt him because he doesn't recognize him.*
26:40 Same dude as the first one. His name is Pat Roach.
32:07 This scene is an homage to a scene in the Special Edition of A New Hope, where Han runs in guns blazing only to be greeted by a platoon of Stormtroopers!
Added some more observations so the heart doesn't go away!
12:48 I was the weird kid that liked bugs in third grade, lol. But I also loved dogs, cats, reptiles, and other animals! Now, it's otters!
Another thing I forgot to add at 14:10 or somewhere around there, when Willie and the other Indian fellow at Pankot Palace discuss the Maharajah not taking a wife (because yknow, he's 12!), Willie thinks that the Maharajah hasn't found the right one at first...she wasn't exactly lying. Child marriages are on the decline in India, but what circumstances can they be married on depends on the family. I heard that even your zodiac sign is a contributing factor!
19:48 And you're right! The main antagonists of this one is the Thuggee cult (where we get the word "thug" from, FYI), which interestingly also included Muslims and Sikhs into their ranks although they worship Kali, a Hindu goddess!
29:15 Six Flags is a very strong word, though we do have Skull Mountain at the location in NJ, where I'm from! Similar vibes, but I want one in Disneyland, though they do have the show!
This is where Spielberg invented the PG-13 rating.
Either cuz it’s too violent or too racist
7:07 that’s called the Wilhelm’s scream 😱 15:09-18:09 😂 28:00 the big dude just got wake up from the 🩸 until he got crushed by the steam roller at 28:03. 31:08 💦 33:09 😄 33:33 😬 33:39 🐊
I've always known about Wilhelm screams, but I've just put it together that Willie's real first name is 'Wilhelmina,' and that's why the character screams all the time in the film (which is something I've seen a lot of people moan about).
@@DarkAngel459 me too. And, ℹ especially laugh 😆 harder than I expected.
5:12.husband:you spilled my drink.wife:there's people shooting guns and your upset about a drink.husband:it was a really good drink
I already talked about the PG 13 thing last time so heres a funny little Fun fact: The Lego Indiana Jones video game made Willie a playable character with a superpower of her own. That super power? Screaming! She can scream so loud it'll shatter any glass surface blocking your way.
As you noticed, yes, first one is 1936 and this one is 1935. Supposedly this movie takes place first, odd but yeah
21:37 your face wen that jumpscare appears and I still remember that jumpscare I remember it got me 😂
And the person who plays Willie Scott in this movie is actually Steven spell berg’s wife
Timothee, Ma Boy!
Steven Spielberg was going through a divorce at the time of writing this one. That’s why this is the darkest of the series
Great Reaction ....

Myth busters tested the raft escape and it was plausible. It would slow down enough to survive but only in exactly the right orientation which was unlikely.
"Is that like a portal to the afterlife?"
I'm pretty sure most lava is a portal to the afterlife. 😆
The fact that this movie created the PG-13 rating is a game changer.
Gremlins, Ghostbusters, and Splash too.
@@osmanyousif7849 love those films man
The 3 movies are great, although I feel like it could've lowered the gross factor a bit, probably could've saved some money. But it's still a great movie, just my least favorite of the Trilogy. For me it's 1, 3, and 2 in my personal ranking.
Notice Indy Suit is a James Bond Reference as it's the Same Tux from Gold fingers opening and also similar to the one from Casablanca Not to mention Club Obi Wan.
3rd movie is a favorite by everyone god I love Indy cant wait for the new one!
“Why are they still playing?” I think EVERYONE is asking that question, Tim.
The name on the club in the beginning.
Obi Wan.
A little part of George Lucas humor and ways to remind the viewers of Star Wars.
Mythbusters proved that using a raft can work jumping out of a plane!
Edit: also the guard that is crushed in the grinder is the same actor as the soldier that got the propeller blade in Raiders!
I Love They Used Whilem Scream Every Single Films
The sequel is my absolute favorite. I am even ready to forgive him for excessive cruelty and some scenes with the participation of Indians.
27:45 hey fun fact the guy that Indiana Jones is fighting is the same actor who played that one Nazi who got killed by the propellers in the first movie exact that actor actually makes a cameo in the third movie and his name is Pat Roach when he was alive he was Americans that man who used to be a wrestler.
In this film, his voice was dubbed by Frank Oz.
the guy who showed them aboard the plane and advised them that it was loaded with live poultry was played by Dan Aykroyd
All the money they put into this money and they couldn't get footage of crocodiles a crocodilian that actually lives in India
Thank u Tim for finally watching this gem!! Amazing practical effects in this movie. This one isn't as good as the first one, but it's arguably more fun and wacky.
This was the first film I ever saw in the series and I was 9yrs old Love Short Round!
I love indana Jones and the temple of Doom
Probably my favorite Indiana Jones movie
Compared to the other Indiana Jones movies, this one is basically a horror film
Prequel to Raiders had me so scared as a Kid!
awesome movie timothee but the first one is iconic❤
6:17 Recognize the name of the club it is named after obi-Wan Kenobi.
Imagine seeing this in the theater and feeling the sheer exhilarating joy and excitement of that movie
I hope Ke Huy Quan comes back at least for a short cameo in the new movie
Timothee saying 'yo this movie is STRESSFULL', right before the heart ripping scene XD
i only found out this year ( 2024 ) that this is technically a PREQUEL to first movie because it takes place 1 year prior. and, TO DATE, the famous ( or infamous )" Wilhelm scream" had been in over 400 movies. and theres no real "CG" in this, just practical and green screen effects.
The part of Thuggee ceremony scared me when I was a kid
Oh wow. Seen the series hundreds of times and for some reason never realized this was a prequel. Mind blown. Though explains why we never seen shortround or annoying screaming woman in the first movie.
And the club there in in the beginning is named club Obi-Wan
"What's real and what's CG"... CG? Really? 1984... no CG. Miniatures, blue screens, practical effects.
Konami made a NES game loosely-based on this film. It's called "Arumana no Kiseki" or "Miracle of Arumana."
Heck I thought the game was an actual Indiana Jones game adaptation when I first played it.
This is definitely the most intense Indiana Jones movie of the original trilogy. No wonder the PG-13 rating was invented haha! Its probably my least favorite, but if I had to watch all three in a row, I wouldn't complain. I always liked Short Round. Some people thought he was annoying, but I have to disagree. Willie was more annoying. Besides, Short Round did help Indy a lot and I liked their 'kinda' father/son relationship. Still, this movie goes all out!
Four questions I've always had about this movie.
1. Why were the sacrifice's arms being held high up above him?
2. Was was a Thuggee wrapping their arms around the sacrifice's neck and holding the sacrifice's head back?
3. Why did Mola Ram stare at the sacrifice's chest for a few seconds after he held his hand over it?
4. Why did Mola Ram wriggle his hand around while it was going into the sacrifice's chest?
If anyone knows the answers to my questions, please reply and let me know. Thank you very much! 😊
Wait a minute, what are American alligators doing in India or whatever country that's supposed to be? 🤔🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
No matter how many times I watch the movie, I still don't understand how at the end Indiana kisses Billie and not kicks her. What a stupid and useless woman! Indiana Jones' worst partner. With all my respects to the actress.
The 5 movie is coming out soon 😭😭😭🩵🩵🩵 I’m definitely going to watch the last one in the cinema. Epic finale. I really hope they didn’t ruin it.
I'm glad you like Short Round, the kid's my favorite part of the movie. He DOES have the best lines.😂
Mythbusters actually tested the raft from a plane and found it was PLAUSABLE. You would need a bit of luck but it is possible to live it and float down.
In case none of the other commenters did their job right…. this movie is a PREQUEL to Raiders of the Lost Ark.
The next 3 movies are Sequels.
A few nature facts regarding the wildlife in this movie.
1. India is native to crocodiles and gharials, yet the crocodilians under the bridge are clearly alligators.
2. The giant bats are called flying foxes, not vampire bats.
3. At least one of the elephants appear to be an African elephant instead of an Asian elephant because of its longer tusks.
4. The giant stick insect on Willie's hand is native to Malaysia not India.
I'm sure these factual errors would go unnoticed or be boring to some people, but as a nature enthusiast, it was noticeable to me.
The scene in Raiders where Indy shoots the guy was apparently a last minute rewrite. They had an entire fight scene planned , but then the entire crew got food poisoning (including the actors) and no one was interested in a whole day of filming - so he shoots him instead. LOL, imho, sooo much funnier! Can't wait for you to see The Last Crusade... definitely my favorite out of the first three, which are all so fantastic!
Highly recommend reacting to the original Godzilla film from 1954 fantastic movie
-Willie scott's actress is married to steven spielberg
-this past year and award season has seen spielberg and the cast reunite thanks to everything everywhere all at once and the fablemans. look it up, so hearth warming
-you didn't react to it earlier, but it's revealed that the club in the beginning is named "club obi-wan," which is of course, a reference to obi-wan kenobi from star wars, since both were created by george lucas
I’m probably one of the few people that doesn’t have a problem with the raft scene.
Mythbusters proved that it’s possible to survive this scenario.
I still think the nuke fridge was too much though but I do see why some have a problem with the raft scene.
I always wondered, what happened to the pilots who jumped out? They had to WALK all the way back home lol.
This is my favorite Indiana jones movie!!!! Sooo funnn!!! ❤❤❤ short round❤❤❤
Raiders is a classic, but this one is my favorite, hands down, Yeah Willie is the most annoying female counterpart Indiana Jones has had, and as far as pitfalls go, it's not that bad.
And the person who plays Willie Scott in this movie is actually Steven spell berg’s wife
The Reason the Temple of Doom is a prequel is because George Lucas didn't want explain where's Marion
