Thank you for your kind comments George. The Nieuw Amsterdam is sailing July 2021, first one in Alaska for HAL that will be back there. It was May 2019 when I made this video, so it was at the start of the season and it's usually quite a bit warmer by July and August. I have even been sunburned in Alaska in the height of summer! So, take some sunscreen and enjoy the beauty of Alaska, it is a lovely place. All the best.
Hey Karen, I will be purchasing my first plane ticket to Sitka, Alaska this summer. I am under aged and was wondering if I should save my money to see the entirety of Alaska abroad or stay inside Sitka. A plane ticket costs $747 from where I live. I am really excited for my stay. I will be staying on an island so idk what I should do to prepare myself for my stay. I enjoy nature and not really entertained by historical aspects. I was wondering what type of geological factors I could explore in Sitka. I hope you can answer a few of my questions. Thank you!
Hi Owen, thank you for watching and for your comment. As I’ve only been to Sitka with cruise ships I’m afraid I don’t know about the islands around the area, just the town - which is why I created this video to give an overview of the things there. I personally love all of Alaska and always enjoy exploring more of it, so if you can see more areas, personally I’d try to sample more spots, but Sitka is pretty magical and would be a great spot to spend more time really getting to know it. Check out my other Alaska videos to see if you like the look of any of the other port towns from there and also I have port guides on the website cruiseshipkaren.com and am currently writing more Alaska ones so there’s lots of extra info that might help you there too.
