If you watch that video they said that it's not high on ester like premium blue restore but instead he mentions they found a specific "molecule" that can target the type of deposits found on the rings. And the motor geek guy did mention that restore and protect is not particularly high in ester. So im guessing there is an additive in addition to PAO group 4 oils. If would probably be much more expensive if it was high in ester group 5 oils. This oil is actually fairly cheap at 29 dollars a jug. I just wish they had some in 20w50 for motorcycles or at least 10w40.
Great analysis. I am testing the V R&P on an oil evaporator of a car, 160k mile 4 cyl Turbo. It seems to have some improvements, noticably zero white smoke at start up, since I used it for about 1000 miles. Toppling up loss oil has persisted but Mobil 1 high mileage gave me stink and smoke out the tail pipe. Everyone's engine is different so just leaving my observation. I am about to go and change oil filter and see if I find a lot of gunk in it. Keep up this investigation, great knowledge sharing.
Thanks for the data point! I'll be completing all the comments for a video to share these data points!
I have ~1,400 miles on my first use. My 126K mile 12 year old Prius had oil consumption issues due to low friction rings. Whilst my vehicle doesn’t yet consume oil, I’m hoping this product will keep it that way. Only thing I can say so far is that the engine is much quieter running this oil. I’ve seen a lot of others making this same comment in other videos regarding this product.
Thanks for sharing
GREAT INFO AND ANALYSIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks !
Thank you. again, very informative.
Not a problem at all!
Excellent series you did. Hope you do more in the future
@@johnmattiazzo3900 oh I will I am reading a patent now on the process to make PAO! It's long but I'll make it exciting!
Great video
Thanks!
Good research. Devil is in the details. We know Blue (diesel) is one time use with solvents that may clog up filter with debris n mess up cat! So, by adjusting for gas engine we can deduce that less potent formula will help with gradual removal of carbon/debris n save expensive cat. Also, Valvo would want people to keep buying their products n therefore recommend 4+ cycles. It’s a win-win…4+ oil changes and ensure carbon deposits are gone, so you see results and buy again. I am on my 2nd oil change…I took pictures of before n will take after shots at 4th oil change. Also, if NOACK number is low, we know that oil burns less…so best of both worlds will be less carbon n less oil burn! Look forward to results! At auto OEM, we do at least 5+ years product cycle planning, so I am guessing Valvo may do something similar thus patent/research date back to 5+ years prior to market launch. Cummins is engine OEM only, but auto OEMs often work with partners like Cummins, Detroit Diesel, Rousch, Shelby, Cosworth, oil OEMs, n other auto OEMs (world engine project, etc.) to learn n share costs before market launch.
Got read between the lines! AndI can't wait to see your pictures if you decide to share them! But anyway, I think this is honestly a great product so long as they keep it in the market. The had an oil called 'Modern Engine' that has been discontinued and I wonder if VRP and pivot from that branding and formulation?
Not sure Valvoline has Highlighted the "all markets" advantages of Restore & Protect yet. Since it can be used/treated like a typical Oil change and claimed useable in new or older engines, seems like a Win-Win for everyone/anyone...
Yes it sure seems that way!
Good research
For sure.
I am waiting to see long term use results before making a switch.
This is the only oil that has made me consider switching from amsoil (from a loyalty standpoint). Innovation is key for any product and its market.
Warning, R&P will be bad for the MLM downline.
Great point! I have never tried Amsoil, I'll have to give it a shake!
@@jrbarden80 Multi-level marketing, a glorified pyramid scheme.
@@jrbarden80 Multi level marketing.
Don't switch. Valvoline is a joke compared to amsoil. In every measurable way right down to the cringe marketing video they made with the motor oil hack...er geek. 15 minutes of marketing BS from a guy who claims to be about science not speculation along with a carfully procured comment section singing his praises as if he did anything beyond regurgitating the marketing material and taking a guided tour of a very unimpressive facility.😅
Good stuff. 😊😊😊😊😊 do some review on diesel oil 😊😊😊
Great suggestion!
What diesel oil do you like?
Just so you know, it’s not a patent that you show there. It’s an ask for a patent.
So they made this oil from the original restore just weaker so it doesn’t mess up engines if they choose to use the new oil continuously?
It appears that the idea is based on the original restore with some different chemistry. And yes it is weaker so you can use it continuously.
Okay I figured. It’s a good in-depth video about it. I think I’m going to choose the high mileage extended life from valvoline for my upcoming oil change. I think I’ll run restore once there’s more videos about before and afters from restore when people complete the recommended 4 -5 changes with restore.
why valvoline and protect is only for gasoline vehicles?
Yes that is correct.
@@oneanddonediy i asked you
My guess would be that engine oil for a diesel engine would probably need more ester content then this oil here has to offer.
Could you help me find a oil that does the same thing for a motorcycle? Like in 20w50 or maybe 10w40? Should a redline oil that is 46 percent ester be good enough to clean off piston rings?
I don't really know anything about motor cycle engines. If take a look and if I can come up with any information that I think might help you I'll reply here.
@oneanddonediy well what do you think I should be looking for? Is the dl:dr version of this is 60% ester starts to rapidly clean pistons? I've compared bel Rey ester motorcycle oils, redline and motul and they all seem to be about 40 percent ester and the rest is pao oils for their high ester performance race oils. I'm just trying to figure out what would come close to valvoline blue restore. I think the restore and protect is mostly pao and they mention that they found a specific molecule in the additive package that attacks the deposits specific to the piston rings.
