Thank you for to comment. I have had the Dillion since 2011 and the lifetime warranty is great. I have had to call them only twice for small parts that wore out and they shipped me those parts at no cost.

FYI. The slickest lube out there is a recipe developed by Dillon Precision. It is 1oz of liquid lanolin to 12oz of 100% pure isopropyl alcohol, check the back of the bottle. I use ISO-Heet gas line antifreeze (red bottle) and put it in a Dawn Power Foam bottle, very fine mist. 100 rounds in a gallon ziplock bag, pump in 4-5 shots and tumble. Pull it out and let it dry for a minute and resize. I convert 308 to 6.5 Creedmoor in one pass.
    It’s really cheap too.
If you really want to measure your rounds for accuracy OAL is a good place to start BUT you want to measure the headspace. That is done with the same tool that you use to measure off the ogive. Just put an adaptor that contacts the case in the middle of the shoulder. Take a fired case from your rifle and write down the measurement from the middle of the shoulder to the base. Subtract.002”-.003” and set up your resizing die to equal that measurement on your cases and reload as you will. Your groups will be cut in half and it almost eliminates case stretching, increased case life and accuracy are just 2 of the benefits, I’ve reloaded some of my cases 25 times or more.
By the way, different bullets have different ogives so different bullets can have different lengths, once you have your case resize length off the shoulder set OAL can be set by overall length or the olgive as long as you’ve using the same bullet.

You definitely know more than I do when it comes to reloading. Thank you for the input.

Even more important to resize your bullets each time in a semi automatic such as the AR15 platform. If you are shooting from a bolt action and using the same gun you can just resize the neck. Then check the overall length and trim if needed.

Outstanding job of describing the loading process. 👏 you should be an instructor. I appreciate it. I am considering starting to reload . Just gathering as much info as I can now. 👍

good vid... I am new to reloading rifle too..... i haven't start yet but trying to learn a lot more about what bullets to buy for hunting....i have been reloading for shotgun and pistol for awhile and thinking of jumping into the rabbit hole with reloading for my rifles now.. (308 and 30-06).

I will say this. Reloading rifle rounds is a bit more tedious. For example lubing the cases and trimming the cases.

Only at long range with the 6.5 the 308 is still awesome!

Haha wow, me and you got into reloading with that press at the exact same time. I have that exact press, I have that exact reloading book same edition and everything. I have the same tumbler. Even the same calipers. I even did the same thing with just reloading pistol ammunition for around 10 years before jumping into rifle calibers.. Pretty funny. But oh boy is reloading rifle a lot more involved?

Yes, the learning curve from pistol to rifle was difficult at first. Boy did the load development take some time to get the correct load for my .308 Howa 1500. It took months!
But it was fun and now I know what’s best for me.
      Thank you for the comment.

    I've been shooting
.40 cal in action pistol for over 15 years.
Like the comment, first try will be .308. My plan, as well.

I’ve been messing around with the .308 reloading for bench shooting at long distances. I was shocked to see how long it take to make sure each round was consistent. So each round I hand pour the powder in each case and this takes time. I also measure each road after reloading for consistency for OAL. The reason why I do this is to make sure I can keep my shot placement at under 1 inch. I’d prefer 1/2 inch groups at 100 yards and have just recently found the sweat spot for my long gun.
Now if you are just reloading for hunting and just shooting for fun you will not have to do what I am doing.

I know the vid is dated. But 308 has been around since 52. 6.5 came out 2007 and I dont think it will last 70 years

Thank you for your comment. I still only reload the .308 round and I love it. I am on average at about 3/4 inch at 100 yards. I am using the SMK 168 gn bullet.
