Hundreds, wow! You know, another neat trick is to heat up a foam bath block (dollar store) with a heat gun and press it on an embossing folder, that makes a great stamp too. I have a video on that, look back to July 2011 for that video:)
Not sure how I missed this one when you posted it but I love this idea. I do mixed media work as well and I like the imperfect stamping. I have tons of polymer clay but now the flexible clay is on the wish list! Thanks for a GREAT idea.
Wow! Lindsay! I just found this one when I googled 'how to use silicone rubber to make stamps'! So glad your video came up! This is the best description (and product) I've seen. Thanks!
This is such a great tip. I have a tub of bake and bend and am not great at animals or charms but stamps I can do. Thank you , I always enjoy your videos :)
Thank you for sharing this. I work with clay and jewelry, as well as, stamp etc. I just bought some bake and bend clay on the clearance rack at hobby lobby. I am going to try this. I love the organic look of the patterns you used. Thanks so much for sharing.
I have often wondered how to make my own stamp. Thank you so much for your idea ! Thank you for sharing. Don't worry about your word slip ups. Makes it interesting and you more human ! : )
I love your videos! I soooo admire how you keep it real. You go with your blunders and that's just awesomeI found your videos while searching for watercoloring. I had no idea you stamped too!!! yay! thanks for sharing!!!
Great idea! I like this technique much better than carving stamps, which is time consuming and doesn't necessarily leave a clean surface like this does.
Thank you so much for showing how to do this and with what item....I was one of the ones requesting a video on how to do it...sometimes it just better to see it done and to try doing something you never seen done...hope that makes sense....anyway thank you !!!
This is so COOL, or Kewl, as my friend says. Thank you so much, must have this and I am armed with coupons this week. Yay! Thank you once again for sharing your considerable talents.
Hi Lindsay Thank you so much for showing us how to do that! What a great idea!I'm surely going to try it. I'm going to check out your July 2011 video too. Take care! Iris,SavedbyGrace
would roll the clay on top of a piece of kitchen foil and bake it direct on the foil as well to avoid the uncured/unbaked clay from being distorted as you pull it out the cutting mat. Than once clay has baked and cooled off simply peel off the foil and mount. Thanks for the videos, I love your ideas!
yes I can, you press something textured (string, leaves, fabric, a texture plate) into a rolled out sheet of bake and bend clay, remove the items and bake, then you have a flexible sheet you can use as an unmounted stamp. Just stick it to an acrylic block with double stick tape and stamp away!
I return to these "mouldy oldies" as you say, time and time again. I wonder if a throwback Thursday or Mouldy oldie Monday would be an avenue to show new people (and some of us "lifers" lol) some excellent and fun techniques. You could just link one on the blog rather than post a whole new video. I find a wealth of information and interest in these videos. Although revisiting them in a new video could also be interesting to see just how your techniques, ideas and execution have changed as you have changed as an artisan.
ps. the only critique of RUclips I have is that there should be a statute of limitations on a video and I should be able to like a video again after a certain time, just to let you know how much we appreciate them!
you can get a pack of bake and bend clay )made by polyform/sculpey) at most craft stores and online. I saw it the other day at Hobby Lobby. You really need the bake and bend for it to work properly. You can use a coupon at the big craft stores too!
so glad you made this video - wish we had that clay here in South Africa - or maybe we do and I just havent seen it - I am going to try with crazy clay though - which is air-dry clay that dries quite rubbery.
I love the idea of creating my very own rubber stamps with something like this 🥰- I just wonder if something like kneadable 2 component silicone putty would work as well 🤔 I just can't seem to get my hand is on any of that particular sculpey around here 😅
How do you make red rubber stamp from green colored clay? Or is there a red clay? Do you bake this clay same way as package directions say for clay projects or how do you finish these after you mold them? I know im asking things that maybe already were told but i am new to bendible clay. Our town has bits of craft stuff in our walmart but thats it. We di have dollar stores but ive never seen bendable clay anywhere. Thanks for your help
I didn't know this stuff even existed. I want to get some rubbing plates to make some fabric, that will be great for this...maybe that is what your blue plates are. I want big non specific flowers/geometric forms. So far I have not found anything I like, but I believe it's out there. I may end up making my own stamps. Square, circles, triangles, swirls may be easier to do with foam. The flower design needs to be big and I just don't know how well a full sheet of foam will work, to get the ink on and full image down. Guess I will have to dive in and try.
Hi, I've used Sculpey's Super Elasticlay Moldmaker before to make molds but pretty soon the molds go hard and inflexible so you can NOT make any more objects with them. I wouldn't want that to happen with this stuff, so has it been tested for permanence, for instance how long ago did you make that nice pattern stamp with this stuff? and is it just as flexible as when you first made it?
you said cling cushion, what is that please? And after you clean a rubber stamp is there any way to re-condition it, to keep it pliable? I had some really nasty, dirty stamps given to me and I used the simple green and some glycerin to clean them but I had to scrub them a lot and I'm afraid I might have dried them out a little. Thanks!
kairus1 I made my first stamps with this probably 8 years ago and it is still flexable, beyond that I don't know but I don't know why it would break down.
I use stamps to stamp solder. Usually I use red rubber stamps and they don’t stick to the solder. Do you think making a stamp with polymer clay will work?
regular clay will not bend and squish at all so the impression will not be great. I have a video on making stamps with foam bath blocks, you can try that if you can't find the bake and bend:)
Im confused as I thought it was going to show me how to make rubber stamps with clay but I dont see how this clay turned into the red rubber stamp! Can you explain please? Thanks
After you bake the clay it turns to a rubbery flexable materail, you can press any texture into it when it is unbaked, then bake it and you have a stamp!
This is a question that is not really about this video: Can I use craft foam to a make a stamp? Like use a point tool to draw on it and make pattern instead, because here it doesnt really sell these items and clay And if they sell it,They sell it expensive Hope someone could reply :)
Mimi Chu Yes, I have two videos that explains it, one with Styrofoam and one with craft foam:) ruclips.net/video/ftD01OKeRBs/видео.html ruclips.net/video/O32K3BnzqT8/видео.html

Fast forward 2021 Simon Hurley sells this with Ranger! Everything old is new again. Thanks Lindsay 🙌🏼
Haven't seen this one...it just popped up as something RUclips recommended! I love it!!!!!!!!! Great techniques! Thanks for sharing!

Excellent tutorial, Lindsay. I have often wondered how to turn my texture plates/embossing folders into stamps!

Nicely demonstrated video showing how to make rubber stamps using bake and bend clay. Keep up with the good work.

Fantastic stamps, I'll have to have a go at this. Your honeycomb stamp looks fantastic. Lee x
Perfect. Exactly what I was looking for! Thanks!
"Oh my goodness gracious." YOu are a delight.
Thanks 😊

I have hundreds of embossing folders that I would love to have as stamps. I'll be sure to pick up some of this clay when I'm out. Thanks!IL
clean as usual:) Simple green and water works great! My stamps were stained with staz-on ink that is why mine were "dirty"
Thank you so much for showing how to do this and with what item....I was one of the ones requesting a video on how to do it...sometimes it just better to see it done and to try doing something you never seen done...hope that makes sense....anyway thank you !!!

It should work if it stays pliable
@@thefrugalcrafter I found one that got a similar shore grade to rubber stamps, so I guess it will :) Thanks for the quick answer, Lindsay 🥰
A blast from the past! Did you ever try using the air dry clay? Hmmmm they sell it at the dollar tree 🌳.
WOW!! Thank you for sharing this. Much appreciated
You have the best ideas. TFS
yes, it was a Makin's Clay mold, they come in packs with 4 different texture sheets:)

Lindsay - guess what I found a place in South Africa that sells Mold and Bake! WOOOOOOHOOOOOO!
Hey can u make a video of all the different types of inks? Thanks so much
Great idea! TFS, Heather
What a great idea! Thank you very much.
Some material shopping totes come with a plastic bottom inside. It works as a mat, also.
you said cling cushion, what is that please? And after you clean a rubber stamp is there any way to re-condition it, to keep it pliable? the stamp will stay pliable:) You can always coat a rubber stamp with glycern and let it seep in, no need to clean it off either:)
thefrugalcrafter . Thanks so much Lindsay!
does the bake and bend sculpey break over time? how long does it last? thank you
kairus1 I made my first stamps with this probably 8 years ago and it is still flexable, beyond that I don't know but I don't know why it would break down.
thank you
great idea, let us know how it works:)
You are a sweetheart, thank-you sooo much for your informative videos...God bless you continually...
I use stamps to stamp solder. Usually I use red rubber stamps and they don’t stick to the solder. Do you think making a stamp with polymer clay will work?
Im not sure
I really love this.
I'm new to most of this with rubber stamps,my question is what did you use to. Put the new stamp to your clear block,an get it back off ?
+Sherry Lee you can use a glue stick, double stick tape or repsisitional glue like aleens tack it over and over.
Can you tell wich mold you use for that stamp that you already done please? luv ur work
Curious how this stamp held up over time? Did it retain it's flex or become brittle?
BTW the stamp will be whatever color the clay it:)
good for you, have fun!
This is great! Thank you!
have u used a baby wipes warmer it works well conditioning it and using pasta roller!!!
what a good idea!
idk how i only just saw this video, but i had a question, would that modle magic foamy claylike stuff crayola makes work for this too?
I think it might get gummy
regular clay will not bend and squish at all so the impression will not be great. I have a video on making stamps with foam bath blocks, you can try that if you can't find the bake and bend:)
Thank you thank you. I will be making these.
Thank you, background stamps are pricey so this is a less expensive answer.
Awesome !
Thanks for sharing! !
Great video!Very interesting!Hugs Maria Chiara
Would this work with polymer clay?
Yes but the stamp will be hard and not soft so it won't stamp as nicely.
can you use regular clay
Im confused as I thought it was going to show me how to make rubber stamps with clay but I dont see how this clay turned into the red rubber stamp! Can you explain please?
Thanks
Ok, so now I am confused, How does the stamp go from baked clay to a rubber stamp??
