Great video! I bought the 2023 bad boy revolt 54in evo stand on mower and love it. Question? On regulatory mowed lawns. Do I need to run at full throttle? Just seems excess at full speed to me. Correct me if I'm wrong. Thanks pal
Hey man thanks for the question! I always run full throttle. Your engine is designed and calibrated to be run full throttle. Running it less than that when mowing will cause stress on your engine components and it is better for the life of your mower especially the hydros. You do not have to drive full speed obviously but it’s best to have the mower throttled up when mowing. On a second note always throttle down completely before turning it off and make sure the throttle is all the way down before turning it on. Great question, let me know if I can help in any other way! I hope you Enjoy your new mower!
I think it depends on a few things. Yea, they say run it at full throttle. Ok. I've had a consumer grade riding mower with a hydrostat since 2011. My yard is mostly thin grass and it goes fast enough at 1/4 throttle, my engine is a Kohler and has 340 hours on it and it runs fine. 90% of the time it runs at 1/4 throttle or less. I can throttle up if the grass gets thick. Will it hurt a Kaw engine? I would say no. But, engine speed is what wears it out faster. It's up to you. It might arguably do a better job at mulching with blade speed and that's true, but 1/3 of my yard is really thin grass in dirt. If I run above IDLE when I mow that, I come out the same color as the dirt there is SO MUCH DUST.
Do you find the Kawasaki struggling? I get into some areas where the grass is 8 to 10 in high and my small 8.5 horsepower walk behind really bogs down. I have the opportunity today, when I go pick up my blades from my mower shop, to get a 42-in SD for 5k, brand new. I only mow part-time, maybe 10- 15 yards a week, at the most. Wondering how well those Hydro 2800s would be?
I’ve sure been a fan of mine! When the grass gets that tall especially if it’s wet it’s going to bog down most any mower. Mine has a 34in deck so I’m cutting a little less with the same hp and I haven’t had any issues with it. My buddy has the 42in and he cuts overgrown yards all the time and doesn’t have any issues either
Looks good! I agree john deere commercial products are a tad high all because of a well known name I love john deere they my number 1 but for on a budget and just starting out in the mowing business bad boy is the way to go and hey it doesn't really what brand you get every machine has it problems it's a machine
Absolutely! I have a brand new z930m that I bought last year and I absolutely love it. This will mainly replace my push mower and do some small yards so I couldn’t justify double the price fore the JD. I appreciate your comment!

@@JonsDailyHustle absolutely! Feel free to email me with any questions or if you end up being able to come try mine out👍🏼russelllawnmaintenance@gmail.com
I have been on several. It handles them better than I expected. It’s lightweight in the front so if you’re going up a hill sometimes it will pop a wheelie but going side to side it holds well. It wouldn’t be my first choice if all I had was steep hills but it’ll do in a pinch
As a homeowner only looking to mow a half acre, would you choose this over one of their residential sit-on zero turns? Is this more comfortable? What are the advantages to stand up aside from the smaller foot print?
I enjoy standing more on residential yards because any time there’s a kids toy or a stick you can you step off and grab it with ease. You also have a better line of sight on these. Now the downside is if you ever plan on pulling a lawn trailer you can’t on a stand on. I find a stander easier on my back but some folks say they don’t like standing the whole time. I would highly encourage you to try one at your local dealer
@@russelllawnmaintenance123 ah alright, and definitely could make one, concerned if it would wear out the deck/lift mechanism, but I'll have to look into it.
I would really like to get a 61” as well! Just to put it through the ringer. I drove one and mowed a strip at the dealership and it did great but nothing like the test of time to form a better option on it. My only concern with the 61 is how far the deck sticks out on each side of the wheelbase. It does have some hefty anti scalp wheels so that’s nice but i would still like to try it out on some ditches and side hills. I looked at the Vrides and drove one. Those things are some beasts! I don’t think you can go wrong with either one😎👍🏼
