- two of these videos in one week?? who am i. part 4 of our best-dress series! just like in the other videos this list is arranged in no particular order and were chosen for different criteria like being iconic/memorable, dresses i would wear if i could, and outfits that were just brilliant decisions on the costume designer's part. obviously this is just my opinion.

yesss marilyns dress was iconic
Ikr? i love it sooo much!!
facts. but she rocked almost everything she wore.
it's iconic but makes her skin look sickly grey. I think marilyn had more cool undertone or at least it looks this way on the tape.
i’m in love with it and her
@@julijakeit She's a Light Spring (or Bright Spring maybe considering her choice of lipstick?) and that dress is True Autumn
This is gold. This color doesn't have the recognition it deserves, I always hear mean coments against it and it isn't fair. Orange it's a beautiful color and should be used more.
I personally think it's really hard to find a good shade that fits you, but, once you find it, it's bomb
You should visit kingsday in the Netherlands 😜
I'm obsessed with orange rn
Talitha Van T Ende it’s the most orange celebration I’ve ever witnessed
I’m glad she mentioned Bollywood....It shouldn’t be ignored especially when talking about “cinematic history” and not “American cinematic history” I’m glad different cultures have been mixed in
@Memcha Laishramwhich gives more good outfits
@Memcha Laishram I think we've already established that but I dont undertand whether ur against it or for it☺️
Marylins dress was clearly Bollywoodish if I'm not wrong!
@@due0yu_GGucci EXACTLY my thoughts
I don't mind people only using one culture as reference only if they allude to it in the titled instead of calling it 'world's' as it used to be in pre90s.
I never realized before how much orange Audrey Hepburn wore in her films , the color is stunning on her
I'm dying to see the best purple dresses in cinematic history!!! :)
Sad it will be one of the last on this series :')
And also blue
@@aysunkutay6790 i was thinking the same color :0
@@aysunkutay6790 and black. Every women has a little black dress in their closet. Cant wait to see Hepburn from Breakfast at tiffanys black dress again
girl, just do every color in the rainbow cause i love these so much
i am! we're just going in order so it'll take some time~
Me too
OH MY GOD I COUNTED WRONG. bye
Please do Maddy Perez, and Jules Vaughn from Euphoria~♡🙏
@@halfdeadminah5857 i cant cover tv shows, it's too many files for my computer~
@@ModernGurlz
Oh 🙁
How about Cher Horowitz, from Clueless ?
@@halfdeadminah5857 it's on the list (i'd prefer it if people didn't comment requests for that series because there's 100+ movies i have to get to and there's a 99% chance that whatever you're going to recommend is something i already planned on doing)
I never really thought of orange as an elegant colour. This video changed my mind. Thanks for putting it together. 🧡
orange was the hardest color to find for this series BY FAR. if anyone has any ideas as to why it’s such an unpopular clothing choice please comment them down below, i tried to research it but didn’t come up with much. the only thing i can think of is that maybe it’s because it isn’t a flattering color on everyone? but the same can be said about pink and they put SO many people in that.
a HUGE shoutout to the following people for giving suggestions for this one, i was stuck in the 20s and they helped push it into the 30s~

I found your channel maybe two months ago and can I just say the amount of work and research in each of your videos!!! + all the editing is so amazing!! Thank you
As someone who's favorite color is orange, I wonder why it's so unpopular for clothing too. I think part of it could be that orange is often associated with warnings. Where red tells you to stop, orange tells you to look out. Construction worker vests and construction cones are typically orange, so are prisoners jumpsuits. Very few people want to be associated with that. In other cultures I don't think they have the same symbols but orange is still a bright color so wearing it will draw eyes to you. Pink may not match everyone but it's linked with femininity, so it's a popular color. Orange doesn't have that going for it, even if it can be associated with warmth and vibrance.
@@fruitsmiles2951 Yes, exactly. Red also draws attention to the person, but it's connected with sexuality and desire, while orange doesn't have such a specific (or desired) meaning. Many people look kinda greenish is orange, so 😬
Thanks to you for the great content I'm happy that I could help ^^ 🖤🖤 Btw, idk why there's not that much orange costumes in movies when it is such a great color (even when my fav is blue XD), anyways I'm glad that I found this channel🧡🧡🧡
I think it’s a harder color to pull off, it has a lot of personality. Its bold, but not in the same way as red. I think costumers have to be more careful with the undertones of the actors skin tone and the undertones of the orange they choose, too. I really like orange though. I like those fun, fantastic colors.
The Gentlemen Prefer Blondes gown is one of my favorite😍
And the Life Size one is iconic
The wardrobe in Aladdin is so under appreciated; every outfit was absolutely stunning.
Indeed! I was thinking about that the whole time I was watching the movie
I agree!!!!!
Agreed!
lol noooo I'm not arab but I am indian and princess jasmin's clothes looked a mess, it was like a weird mishmash of middle eastern and south asian cultures without any regards for authenticity. which makes sense considering Aladdin is like orientalism galore anyways, but the fact that the costume designer was white reaalllly shows, like its actually painful to look at some of jasmin's costumes, especially that kitschy jewelry ugh
@@meharsidhu414 I've heard many people saying that the clothes reminded them of bollywood. I liked them as "fantasy outfits", but I wouldn't mind to see some that are actually culturally appropriate
Glad to see the man from uncle dresses on here, that film is criminally underrated.
I know right?
such a well done movie!!
Katie Jane Gettings omg took the words right out of my mouth!
I agree! I watched it a few years back and was like, “why did nobody talk about this movie!?”
Guy Ritchie does costume design well
Gosh orange really was Audrey's color. The dress at the end of Under the Tuscan Sun is still my favorite. I love that you included the dress from An Affair to Remember, its definitely an underrated look. Finally The Court Jester is one of my favorite movies of all time!
So happy to see the inclusion of Bollywood films, I'd love to see what beautiful dresses are in other films from around the world
the black dress video theme of this is bout to be dope
It'll be infinite XD
But sadly it will also be the 2nd last😢😭
I recommend the black dress Judy Garland wore while singing Broadway Rhythm.
That first one is so iconic🧡
So happy to see mumtaz in the orange saree from brahmachari (aaj kal tere mere pyaar ke charche......song) . Not only is this outfit iconic but also the saree draping styling is unique 🧡🧡🧡

I can't believe you also included the orange dress out of 'Sissi'. As a little kid i used to love that dress. I really think it is so cool that you are including dresses from movies from all over the world
I've never personally seen the movie but I would absolutely kill to wear that dress, it's gorgeous
*Sometimes i wish i was a fashion icon too.*
Wheres lisa simpson lol
Omg Madhuri's legendary dress in Beta when she dances Dhak Dhak 🤩🤩!
EP I love her moves!
lola Same! She's one of my favourite actresses and dancers ever and I have a huge girl crush on her it's ridiculous lol.
Her green dress in Devdas should def be on the green dresses list.
@@SoWhosGae true
@@SoWhosGae i came to suggest that dress 😝💕
The orange dresses the trio wears in Hairspray are so beautiful too!!!!!!
oh garsh darnit, that would've been a great one!!
i'm literally THIS close to deleting this video and redoing it just for this suggestion alone.... 😓
@@ModernGurlz NO DON'T DELETE IT!!!!!!!! IT'S SUCH A GOOD VIDEO AS IS, there can always be a part two! You put in so much effort for these videos and they are so amazing!!!!!!
@@ModernGurlz Don't do that, put a pic on community and that's it uwu
Also Dolly Parton's dress in 9 to 5, a character named violet at the end wore one too but it was lackluster in comparison
I'm so glad you included Mumtaaz in Brahmachari!
That saree is so iconic
Honestly, watching these edits helps me to relax and remember more colourful days
Mumtaz the lady in orange. Thank you for including her. Literally her signature colour
I feel so happy when I see non-american movies in those videos, especially indian movies, because everytime people think about the greatest movies or outfits from movies, they only think about american movies and it really makes me sad
Finally you put sissi in
Love from germany
Das österreichische Vom Winde verweht 😍
I love sissi too, I watched it yesterday 🥰
Wow my fair lady has a beautiful dress in every color. Iconic film
I can’t wait until you do yellow dresses, you must include Drew Barrymore yellow dress in Ever After, Clueless (of course) and Belle’s beauty and the beast yellow ball gown. Love this channel!!!
Girl Belle's dress was a travesty. It looked so cheap even Emma's beauty couldn't make up for it.
Great video! There are also Alice's (barn dance) and Dorcas's (spring scene) dresses in "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers" (Alice's is more on the peachy side but I guess that counts) and Kathy's last dress in "Singing in the Rain". Could you do a all the outfits in "Ever After a Cinderella Story", please?
I love Jasmine's orange dress in Aladdin.
Number 10 looks very red
I like 34 it was so stunning
The look that I like the most is the orange coat at Breakfast at Tiffany's
also you’ve probably already got this before but could you do Maddy Perez’s outfits? 💞
i can’t cover tv shows, it’s too many video files for my computer.
ModernGurlz ok thats fine!
Orange is my favorite color ☺️😊 it makes me feel warm and cozy as well as happy and energetic
I’m so glad this video featured dresses from older movies as well💗💗
2:02 literally thank you for including this it’s such an underrated movie
It's really underrated! Feels unfair
OMG this is so awesome!
You included a Bollywood movie 😍😍 #8
Thank you for the heart 🥰
can someone recommend to me some channels like this? like with a y2k or 90s feel plz lmk
Just watched the live action Aladdin yesterday for the first time. That orange dress is stunning! Also may I just say how beautiful the costumes were in Aladdin? Absolutely jaw dropping.
Marilyn Monroe's tiger dress in The Seven Year Itch is absolutely breathtaking.
I feel like orange was much more popular in the 50s and 60s than nowadays. Audrey's dress in Paris When it Sizzles is simple but I would die to have a dress like that! It has the most beautiful back! In Breakfast at Tiffany's she's actually wearing a coat in the first scene you showed, but we can totally count it as a dress 😊
Whoever made this video made her research very well. I was stunned when Sissi was included.. Kudos whoever you are ❤️
I was so happy I love sissi
The orange dress in dirty dancing 2 is amazing. Such an underrated movie as well
When u saw our legendary Mumtaz ji ..I literally feels very happy..she is India's one of the most famous actress and fashion icon. Just like sadhana ji..👍👍💎💎
Could you please dedicate a video just for Sissi???? Her dresses are the best 😭😭😭
I like Jasmine's orange dress from Aladdin (2019) best from this Modern Gurlz list
Gentlemen prefer blondes was so damn iconic
An orange dress that I really liked though the actress that played her (Gina Trikonis) was pretty brief in it is Graziela from West Side Story (1961) in the Mambo scene where she and Riff have that dance-off with Anita and Bernardo
Charlize Theron’s Oscar’s 2000 orange dress was a pure magic ✨👌🏻
OMG I actually think Drew’s look from Poison Ivy was inspired by Marilyn’s in Gentlemen prefer blonds. Didn’t make that connection before
I think it’s so great that you include costumes from films before the ‘70s and ‘80s! I feel like more love should be shown to older films as so many of RUclips’s film channels just cover recent blockbuster films and not classic films, world cinema and indies.
Moral of the story: Audrey Hepburn KILLS in orange!
Yessss Mumtaz’s orange sari was iconic
I have never seen "Come September" but I really want that dress
the most underrated color. orange makes my heart happy!! 🍊
YES! Orange is my favorite color I was hoping you would do this video!! Thank y'all so much!
The dresses from Gentlemen Prefer Blondes and What A Way To Go were my favorites
Marylin Monroe's dress look like 90's bollywood style ♥️.
This video series is absolutely brilliant!!! But I was so sad not to see Olivia Hussey’s Juliet Capulet blood orange party dress! I hope her dusty purple marriage outfit could be in a later video! 💖 Also, Marnie wore an interesting orange dress in Halloweentown 2 with a starry purple cloak over it.
I'm so happy you included Bollywood! Madhuri was stunning in that orange
Would loveeeee an iconic green dresses series.
Also - please do iconic Samantha Jones outfits!
I personally think it's really hard to find a good orange shade that fits you, but, once you find it, it's bomb
The designers of the costumes in Aladdin are so talented-
I know this isn't a dress, but I thought about Velma's orange jumpsuit from the live action scooby doo
Very well put together. No narration, just clips and background music. Easy to watch with a smile.
Orange is such an under rated color in fashion
I love all of romy's Sissi dresses
I wish you had the back view of Doris Day's dress in Do Not Disturb. (#31) The front looks so conservative- long sleeves and high neck. But it's completely backless- very sexy from the back. Also she wore a matching long trench coat that was white but with orange sequined lining so she has this dramatic reveal as she takes off the coat and then shows her back. I've never seen sequined LINING before or since.
Im glad you added bollywood, we're talking about cinematic history not just American :)))
Orange is so underrated, it’s so pretty!
Unpopular opinion maybe. But Princess Jasmine costume were really bad. Like it was so white washed. Considering there are such amazing designers in the Arab, Asian and desi (infact even African if you wanted to situate the story somewhere near Egypt) diaspora who would actually done such a better job. And idk how much it costs but it looked cheap. It was a mess. The intricacy and detail which is usually the shine of most of cultures was totally missing. (fun fact : I'm Indian and it our fabrics, the work and craftsmanship dictate so much of the price, the best of fabrics are heavy af but retain sucha delicate and flowy look thanks to it) I know its a rant but I was so disappointed!
Seems like anything Audrey Hepburn wears is iconic....
Orange, especially combined with brown, were really everywhere in the 60s and 70s, it seems.
Thank you for including classic Bollywood
What about Virginia Mayo's dress in the original Secret Life of Walter Mitty?
Love that orange dress on Doris Day in Do Not movie. The back is cut open and low, beautiful.
Do more colors like blue, purple, Green or silver, the shades of colors in clothing are stunning! 💖💖💖💖💖
Love this colour series 😭🧡
What! When did Marilyn Monroe wore an Indo - Western dress Damn!
I love this except for one thing. Audrey Hepburn's dress in My Fair Lady was LITERALLY PINK!!!!!!
if you google it you’ll see it’s a very light peach/orange. she has another dress in the movie that is a proper pink.
So elegant and classy. This is how i want to dress
Yooooo I love htis channel so much!!! I'm doing a ModernGurlz marathon for inspiration for my fashion designs!
The way Audrey Hepburn is in all of these vids
My Fair Lady is honestly iconic the costume designers just don’t hit the same these days 🥺
Please do purple 🥺
I saw Naomi Scott and I watched it right away!
I hope her pink gown was included in the pink dresses list too 😅
Audrey Hepburn is really the Orange Queen !!
What about a view for Latin american movies?
as a south asian, the aladdin dress comes off so cheap it makes me want to gag lmao. like if you want to mix a bunch of cultural and fantasy influences fine i guess but you're really telling me THAT is the best you can do? have the costume designers for that movie ever even SEEN desi clothes irl??
this dress especially bothers me bc orange is such a difficult color to convince people that it can look nice and i personally have multiple orange pakistani formal outfits that i love to death and then to see that... ew
but if we're talking desi clothes, i loveeee rani mukerji's orange fit during the medley song in mujhse dosti karoge, absolutely fire and an iconic part of my childhood
Wait...I could’ve sworn in the VHS version of Bram Stoker’s Dracula, Lucy’s nightgown was red? I-
Eiko Ishioka is a phenomenal costume designer.
I have this reaction with a lot of dresses in this series 😂
The fact that Debbie Jelinsky was recognized here, S T U N N I N G. She singlehandedly made the Adam's Family Values such an iconic movie, ugh what a queen who deserved love and jewelry.
MALIBU BARBIE!
Now is orange My favo color
You missed one of Natalie Woods’s costumes from Gypsy!
That orange dress In mahogany iconic 😍 love that dress and marilyn’s dress
The best theory I can think of for why orange isn’t used often is because it might blend in with the skin tone too much? Like, one big reason why teal and orange color grading is so popular is because it flatters and brings out skintones, so maybe orange just doesn’t tend to contrast enough? That being said, there’s no reason why it should be so much less popular than, say, pink.
So happy to see sissi in there 😍
Orange is my favorite color, I wish people liked to wear it more
I think Sisi's one is my favorite, so pretty 🤩
But I don't really like Jasmine's dresses in Aladdin...
Does anyone know all of the movies names
I love how everything Audrey Hepburn wore became iconic
Gurl, you included bollywood movies ....thank you!!!!
