Are you kidding? Love the Gremlin, had a friend who had one, big v8, fat meats on the back. That car hauled ass. He hurt a lot of feelings in it after dragging their asses down the strip.
If I had the money I would have an odd ball car collection, like Gremlins, Pacers, AMXs, Pintos, old Mavericks, Vegas and things like that. I know most may not want cars like that but that's the cars I would have and preserve them too. Just found your channel but will be watching more of your stuff.
Good show : haven't been to a AMC meet for years. Especially the past few. Maybe Thursday 25+ ago I was able to drag a truck load of 2000+ lbs. all AMC parts of all stuff I could hunt down
I worked with a guy that had a 79 Spirit AMX with a 360 from the factory. There were some midnight machinations going on. A twin for that cresm colored one.
Tell me at least one of the horde of Gremlins there was named Gizmo, Stripe or Mogwai? Haven't seen that many Gremlins in one place ever and that was more than I have personally seen in at least the last 25 years put together! Nice to see the handful of nice AMX's too, that tan or cream one had me wanting to take it home with me. Good inspiration for finishing up your fleet for sure. Definitely find louvers , those looked sick on that white AMX but would look even nicer on your black one. Add a touch of the stripe colors to the edges of the louvers and it would really pop. Thanks for taking us with you, again! First car was a 79 Pinto station wagon... baby dookie green with faux factory wood grain stickers 'woody' style down the sides that were half peeled off... hated that car but it wouldn't die. So I traded it and an old motor bike off for a 78 AMC Matador in near pristine condition a year later. Did not care for the look of that car but it was a beast with a rebuilt and camed 360 and a Dana 44 posi in it. Put new 3 inch exaust on it soon after I got it and other than changing fluids that's all i did to it for 10 years, only sold it because an AMC guy wanted it badly. Traded me a 74 Camaro and $500 cash for it in the parking lot of SIR (Seattle International Raceway)... and eventually that Camaro became my first street car.
You're not a true AMC nut unless you own a matador or rambler and a gremlin (aka: beaver magnet) leaves no doubt. I once owned a matador wagon, it had the pushbutton automatic. At this point, the hornet is the one that appeals most to me.
Have you spent a lot of time in Missouri or around Missourians. I heard you say Mexico, Missoura which is usually only called that by those of us born and raised here.
I caught a glimpse of an amx in a garage here in my home town just yesterday! It appeared to be silver and from what I saw from a distance to be in decent shape
Austin, I’ve got a rebuilable 360 in NC if you can’t locate one elsewhere and I may be coming up to visit my brother in Columbus sometime this summer if it would help also. Nothing is set in stone yet so if your interested, then we can make plans around bringing that up too you. Just let me know my friend!
Edgewater is a small local track, they give people an easy reasonably inexpensive place to get their feet wet with drag racing. Host lots of test and tunes and low dollar buy in racing. Versus somewhere like a Norwalk for example.
Well we missed going to this event! How many Pacers were there? We’re hoping to go to the Kenosha homecoming in July and the AMC owners association in Detroit this August.
I'm an AMC fan. I don't own any currently but there have been a few owned in the family and by friends over the years. BUT when will we see an update on any of the Capris. How is it that AMC built both the Gremlin and the Pacer? Kind of stupid to build your own competition and split the sales like that. As for the exhaust manifolds vs headers.. watch Engine Masters.. it's a massive loss even between shorty headers and manifolds, long tubes drastically increase bottom end torque too. If you're worried about fitment/ground clearance, get someone to make you a Holman/Moody style 4 into 1 where all the tubes are laid in to the collector flat side by side.
