      @@SilentServiceCode RAV4 owners manual recommends the brake fluid which follows the following standard: FMVSS No.116 DOT 3 or SAE J1703 brake fluid. The Certified DOT3 brake fluid used in this video meets the requirements of this standard. Even though I prefer to use OEM products, you can safely use this aftermarket brake fluid as well.

    Bottles should have a small amount of fluid in them first, just enough to submerge the end of the hose to prevent air from being sucked in

    You have a 2nd partner with you. Why not have him step on the brake? Step on break, open valve, close valve, release brake. Repeat process until you see new fluid. Always start with 1 wheel at a time furthest away from master cylinder.

      In this video, we tried to show that brake fluid replacement can be done by only one person. I should add that it is best to suck out the old fluid from the reservoir before you add new brake fluid to the reservoir. This way you will need to use less fluid during the replacement process. We have another video where we showed how to do the brake fluid flush using two people: How To Bleed Brakes? Brake Fluid Change. Detailed Guide! - ruclips.net/video/7W1w6Su0HAI/видео.html.

    Where is the old fluid in the reservoir

  • @drcoffee5588
    @drcoffee5588 2 года назад +3

    So wrong. You need pressure to force water and crud out. This also does nothing for old fluid in the master cyl. And calipers. Crack the bleeder, then compress the caliper pistons in to purge the old fluid. Then pump out fluid from lines. All you did was mix old and new fluid in the caliper

      @piecetrain9767 Год назад

      If this is a serious comment- I don’t know of anyone that recommends such a long interval. The fluid has certainly been changed to some extent with brake changes. The fact that nothing has gone wrong yet doesn’t mean there isn’t a problem or that it isn’t compromised. The fluid is hygroscopic.

  • @getgr
    @getgr 3 года назад +2

    It's incorrect way!
    1. First you should suck away old brake fluid from the tank, as much as you can.
    2. You should activate brake fluid change mode in the Techstream. Otherwise ABS actuator valves remain closed and you will not be able to change fluid there.
    3. Usually it is enough 0.5L for everything.

    • @MorozovAutomotive
      @MorozovAutomotive  3 года назад +3

      Well, I wouldn't go as far as calling this way incorrect.
      1. As for sucking out the old fluid from the brake reservoir, you are right, this will speed up the fluid replacement process.
      2. Not everyone will have access to the Dealer service tools like licensed Techstream software.
      3. The amount of old fluid in the ABS module is not significant and won't affect brakes operation. The small amount of old ABS fluid will mix up with fresh brake fluid during normal ABS system operation. If you want even deeper clean just change the brake fluid again after the ABS system has worked (while driving press brakes hard a few times to let ABS engage).

    • @getgr
      @getgr 3 года назад

      @@MorozovAutomotivethe fluid in the ABS is not moving much, because ABS is activated, when there is already high pressure in the system. But valves in the ABS module themselves are moving and give some wearing out particles. So I would recommend to change brake fluid everywhere. Techstream is available in the internet and cable costs about 25 bucks, you know.

    • @jackieliu5004
      @jackieliu5004 Год назад +1

      Well according to the service manual, it doesn't specify the usage of techstream to bleed the lines, the normal pedal method works.

  • @kleerogers

    you did this all wrong, I previously thought you knew what you were doing, you never start with the front, always the furthest one from the brake master cylinder, rear passenger side. You dumped brake fluid all over overfilling the reservoir, seriously?????

    • @MorozovAutomotive
      @MorozovAutomotive  9 месяцев назад +1

      There are different ways to do this procedure. This way it can be done by only one person. We are using the gravity only to change the brake fluid which is fine if you don't have air in the system or you have not replaced any braking system components like ABS module or master cylinder.
      And this is the pressure bleeding method which we did not use in this video and that you have mentioned: How To Bleed Brakes? Brake Fluid Change. Detailed Guide! (2016 Scion TC / Toyota Zelas) - ruclips.net/video/7W1w6Su0HAI/видео.html.
      As for the spillage, it can happen to anybody.

    i see that you did not remove the rear wheels? did you lie down on the ground to access the nipples to bleed it? do you have any tips on how to do this? i prefer not to remove the wheels

    • @MorozovAutomotive
      @MorozovAutomotive  8 месяцев назад

      Yes, we did not remove wheels. There is enough room to do it without lifting the RAV4. You can turn front wheels to make it easier to reach bleeder bolts from the top. Rear bolts can be reached from underneath the vehicle.
