Wtf? I've watched nearly all of the 40XXV reviews and only found you and your video yesterday. I must say its very well made! Definitely one of the top review videos I've seen for this device, will tune in for future handheld videos :)
hey this is a good and entertaining review! I ordered my device and I'm still waiting for delivery. and yes, I have already many (too much) other anbernic devices. but well...seems to be another kind of collection addition.
Nice review! Got one coming for Chrimbo. And that music... love it. Used to listen to a now-defunct SwitchRPG podcast that introed and outroed with that music. What is that tune, please?
Just to add to discussion: I bought a RG40xxH and while I love the controller layout, new screen and the feel of the buttons is slightly better it runs worse than my RG353 and I don't like the OS that comes with it. I just updated it to the latest version and it still runs a bit worse. I usually test these with arcade Shadow Dancer right off the bat because that game will skip frames a lot on weaker systems and it definitely has trouble keeping a steady pace on the RG40, but it runs perfect with no hitches on the RG353. I'm a bit disappointed because I love the screen. The RG353 comes with an OS that seems like it was forked from RetroPie which I also love, it has a ton of customization.
Are you running Shadow Dancer from Game Rooms or Retroarch? Because even some super easy to run stuff runs terrible on stock if you do it from Game Rooms like I said in the video... stuff that should be full speed will frameskip, have logic errors, usually have some terrible filter on an more. If you run the same games straight from retroarch everything is full speed. Mine's charging right now or I'd check, I'll give it a look later. But either way, it should not have any trouble running Shadow Dancer, I've run way more taxing stuff on it wtihout issues.
@@InglebardGaming Holy shit, you're my hero buddy. I didn't rewatch your vid when I got it but you're correct. I didn't realize there was even a difference :D Thanks. Something else I don't like.... Doesn't seem to be any way to scrape images and whatnot. What's the point of connecting to wifi?
Cool, glad that's better, its a huge difference, right? I don't know what Anbernic is thinking with the "game rooms" settings. I had a chance to try it myself and saw it was fine too, was about to reply again, but I saw you already know, lol. As for scraping, I'm the wrong person to ask about that stuff. I'd go with a simple text menu with everything if I could to keep it all as fast as possible.
Is there any hope we'll see you talk about the Retroid Pocket handhelds too? The RP4 Pro seems like a great little machine, by comparison the new model is an utter scam lol
Any hope? Hard to say, lol. I did do two videos on the Retroid Pocket Flip. But the vast majority of these things I have to buy if I want to review them. I've tried to reach out to Retroid about getting review devices but haven't heard back, so I probably won't be doing reviews of them because I'm not buying more high end devices right now. The RP5 and mini seem mostly fair, though. They have a slightly better (but much better supported) chip set, extra RAM and a better design. If I come across one somehow I'll definitely cover it.
@@elDoober The Retroid Pocket 5 has literally the same hardware but with an OLED screen, which means lower battery life. I think they shouldn't have bothered
Generally I prefer horizontal layouts, but I like having a GB style device for something different, too. I like this one better than the 35XXSP by quite a bit.

@@SomeOne-wr1wr Thanks, glad you liked it!
Great review! I definitely want to see some more emulation handheld reviews.
Thanks! I also did a recent one on the Anbernic CubeXX if you haven't seen it yet: ruclips.net/video/_9R697cA8f4/видео.html

awesome review, device looks awesome tbh!
Thanks! It's pretty nice, definitely a bit better than I expected after the SP.

Inglebard knows his sh*t. Anbernic better bring their f*cking A game.
They did pretty good with this one 😁

Does it come with preinstalled roms?
It does if ordered from china , not if amazon
It's nice looking. Hate that form factor tho.
I definitely prefer the GBA style versions. That's what the V or H in the anbernics are for, this is the vertical model. H all the way for me.

Generally with you also! See my other reply to the first comment for details 😁
@@InglebardGaming GB style seems to be the default and I can't stand how they implement the shoulder buttons.
MuOS is going to fix the analog stick input
Would you use a Playstation style analogue stick for Street Fighter?
Not in a million years.
Does it come with nintendo games on thr expanded sd card version? Is there a games list ?
Usually not that have had an anbernic device but from what I've seen they have Nintendo titles but seem to leave out Mario son they don't get sued lol
Can anyone tell me is the Cadillacs & Dinosaurs on it? Thanks a lot
yes, there is so many of them on there
