I'm honestly not a vertical handheld guy either but I got to admit the 4" screen and design makes this a really tempting console to add to my small collection. Thanks for the video!
I got mine 3 days ago to play 8 and 16 bit Nintendo games. Works like a dream and games like Pokemon Emerald play just like the OG hardware, even with features like the Real Time Clock and there´s even possible to trade and battle Pokemon!. The controls are amazing, responsive and accurate.
I’ve been weighing up the 40XXV and the 406V for a while now (amongst a few others), and this review made me realise that it’s the 40XXV that I really want deep down. It scratches that nostalgic itch, and looks like the perfect combination of retro aesthetics and power/capability. Thanks for the excellent review. I really enjoyed it.
No problem, really glad I could help! For me the RG406V is great with its power but more of a couch handheld. The 40XXV is great as a portable handheld. Thanks for the great comment!
Just got this yesterday and so far happy with it but oddly it did not come with any Nintendo emulators or games preinstalled. It has tons of preinstalled games but no NES, SNES, N64, GB, or GBA emulators or games.
@@ChronikSpartan can you mention where someone else mentioned? Literally the only reason I bought this thing and there are no instructions anywhere online that I could find.
I’d love the SP but I also really prefer rubber membrane buttons like the OG GBA… so I’m still waiting for the V to drop in price. My only other handheld is the TSP
It's 8 videos on this series of handhelds now? I'm hanging on for the gaming on a phone week/month video because that's probably how most people are playing retro games, the closest we got to that was a review of a controller (and that was the second video on it.)
I played it for a day and i'm about to return it due to the lack of comprehensive guides on how to add emulators. Not worth my free time to spend an entire day researching just to not be able to play the games I actually want and be stuck with 1,000+ trash games

No problem buddy, maybe check out the RG40XX H if you don't want vertical

Such a great console isn't it!

It's probably because nintend is pretty strict on roms
Thanks for the review.
I like collecting these handhelds even though I mainly play old arcade games 😅
No problem, they are addictive to collect!
Yesterday I saw that they're putting this chipset into the Rg Arc shape. This comment will probably age quickly.
I think that's a good thing TBH. You get the form factor that suits your needs better.
Interesting, I never picked up an Arc, might be time to if they do
What is the stock SD card like? Is it branded?
yes it's not a samsung or sandisk (koxia i think) but it's a good one not the garbage they send in the past
Yeah, it's a lot better than an unbranded. But I think it can be supplier dependent
Its my first and I'm loving it.
Connect to a TV and use a Xbox controller and it becomes a console
They're pretty amazing aren't they!
Does it get warm when you are using as a console?
ordered the rg40xxv should be here in a few days. 50 bucks is a a steal.
Oh man, that's a great deal!
Are you tempted to do "I played the RG40XX V for a month and this happened"? :D
Very! But there are a lot more consoles in line first
Can anyone tell me is the Cadillacs & Dinosaurs on it? Thanks a lot
it should be.. if not it takes almost no effort to add it.
I can't remember specifically but as Segaton says it's easy to add
Enjoyed the video, I'm interested in buying one of these. Did you play or test N64 games?
I did and they played well, I'm just avoiding mentioning Nintendo for now due to their emulation crackdown
@@ChronikSpartan makes sense, I didn't think of that.
@@ChronikSpartan can you mention where someone else mentioned? Literally the only reason I bought this thing and there are no instructions anywhere online that I could find.
My favorite for now! software is great and even better with MUOS! haha.
It's such a great console!!
so tempted to buy one of these for that 4in screen. I have the 35XXSP and keep telling myself I don't need the 40XXV
Haha, it's so tough because technically it doesn't add much, but the design is so nice!
I’d love the SP but I also really prefer rubber membrane buttons like the OG GBA… so I’m still waiting for the V to drop in price. My only other handheld is the TSP
I was about to order the SP (costs around 41usd in my area), but then the 40xxV has some discount (around 50usd in my area) so I ordered it instead

I'll definitely be doing a month challenge with my phone. It's just finding the time in between all the new handhelds I keep getting, lol
@@ChronikSpartanI'd like to see it with a newer phone that can run new games.
Can i use 512gb memory cards in this
Yeah you can
@ChronikSpartan thanks for the reply
Ive beeen playing odin 2 for a few months now and what happened is that i dont give a s about these xxxxx devices no more.
Haha, that's fair 😅
I have an rg40xxh and a retroid pocket 4 pro but I REALLY want to get the V. It looks like it scratches that vertical handheld nostalgia.
It's definitely brilliant for those nostalgia vibes!
I love my blue one!
Brilliant choice!
Why are all reviews positive but one guy has software issues and reboots all the time?
There's always going to be the odd faulty device. Happens with all technology
WHAT NEVER PLAY CASTLEVANIA????? 🤯
I know, it's bad isn't it!
🥶
Ice

Is it games or actual emulators you want to add?
Wow. What a bad take on gauntlet legends
Haha, just not for me, or maybe it's just aged badly
Does it have pokemon
No, they've been excluding the big Nintendo titles for a while now to avoid controversy
заказал эту приставку и смотрю ролики пока она едет 😄
Hope you enjoy it friend!
спасибо за обзор
Thank you!
