Good game. Remember watching it with my pop. We were already stoked from B.C. beating N.D. as FSU fans. And Miami losing that evening was the cherry on top. R.I.P. pop.
Yeah, I remember it well. My son was all Miami, he was way too cool to be a Mountaineer fan, Kept telling me that West Virginia didn't have a chance against the Mighty Hurricanes. I didn't say much at the end of the game, didn't have to, just the look on his face was enough. Great memories.
This was my first game at Mountaineer Field. I was 17 years old and had enlisted in the Navy under the Delayed Entry Program. My mom asked me before the season started which game I wanted to go to as she wanted to take me to a game before I left for Military service and I picked this one. What a game! We were sitting on about the 35 yard line lower level around 10 rows up on the press box side. I’ll never forget the excitement and experience!
The capacity crowd for Mountaineer Field is listed as 60,000. The record-breaking attendance for the 'Canes game was 70,222 fans. It's mind-boggling how 10,222 fans managed to get into the stadium for standing room only space. A classic game before an epic crowd!
My family had season tickets for 1993, but only 4 (I think) per game; it was my first time seeing the Eers. I remember at the beginning of the season, my older brother (a sarcastic teenager at the time) was irate that I was going to the Eastern Michigan game, and he was 'stuck with' the Miami game ticket, and for weeks all I heard was 'It's okay, Joe can see them win, I don't have to see them win. I'll go to the Miami game'. It's been 30 years... I still give him hell about it.
My freshman year and greats memories of what WVU football used to be. The pride, passion, feeling you got on gameday Saturdays, its not like that today and hasnt been sinethe mid 2000's
Wv not usually a powerhouse any year but we seem to be able to knock off anybody when given the opportunity. Teams need to be aware of the heart of a mountaineer.
Don Nehlen was the greatest WV football coach and I really appreciate moments like this, my brother and I was at this game and I remember the celebration afterwards lasted forever and if you were in a hurry to get out of town it wasn’t happening what a great memory let’s go Mountaineers
@@Moonshinedave1 you are so right and how hard they played for him just reminds me of the pride year in and year out throughout his entire career here, what a great man he is
I was one of those 70k. The student section was too crowded, so a group of us went to the lower level and sat on the concrete steps. We were eventually escorted out of the stadium by state troopers, right before halftime. Good times!
I sat in the end zone on the metal bleachers on the hospital side where the band now sits. We should have won by a couple of touchdowns because we wasted first two drives in the red zone with missed field goals.
I can’t believe that Miami allowed such a CLOWN play Quarterback for the Hurricanes. That #8 Collins was not even good enough to be on the team, much less be a Starting Quarterback.
Didn't FSU shaft an undefeated conference champ West Virginia that year to get into the national championship game...... It didn't bother them then now its a problem

FSU sucks

What a great game and season, West Virginia pride here!!!

Mountaineer Field held more folks back then before TouchdownTerrace and some other changes.,....65-68,000 wasnt uncommon in those days
They removed some seats to add sections.. touchdown terrace & whatever else..
It was 63000 back then, still a way stuffed stadium
I was there
@@A_A_Ron78 Lost 3500, it was 63500
Nehlan made WVU football a big time program
I was there. The student section was a scene. It was a great time to have been a WVU

I was there, Sec 203. There were people sitting/standing on the steps beside us. Crazy how many they packed into MPS that day
What a time May we ride again
Thanks for memories I still remember that game

unless Jarett Doege is at QB
Richrod had some powerhouses
We was a powerhouse that year
I was 13 years old when this game was played. Always a Mountaineer fan ❤
That hit at 4:56 needs to be mentioned
#88 for Miami got separated from his soul.
Great crowd. Great game.
WV should go back these uni’s
Finally! The Rock has come back to Morgantown!
Miami was as easy to detest then as they are now.
Yea because of all the butt whippings we gave you 😂😂

Coach Nehlen could go out and find the diamonds in the rough. Get those great players the others over-looked.

West Virginia beat THE ROCK (DWAYNE JOHNSON)
Up until August 31 2024 !! When PSU come to Motown !! Let's Gooo Mountaineers!!

at 19:05 local fire departments knew...it was going to be a bad night
That’s who they need as a coach that there is a doc Holliday remember what he did Marshall
Doc did a nice job at Marshall , WVU may have missed on not taking a chance with Doc but that is water under the bridge at this point....
@@garyray9277 And from what I've heard, that bridge may just have been burnt to a crisp after Doc left Morgantown
doc was never an oc or dc prior to a hc. Ill pass on him as a hc. Great recruiter but average hc
Les go WVU!
I wish our defense was back to being this good
Remember when we could have banners and signs in the stadium. We were awful. :)
if you look at the 10:13 mark you see Mr. Clean Jersey Dwayne Johnson
ZIDES sideline jacket, who else bought one? St C Mall, cost me an arm and a leg, but i had one LOL
At 17:20 is Duane “The Rock” Johnson.

Terrible, Frank Costa wasn't any better, and don't get me started on Ryan Clement.
💙💛
Was a cold night.
I was there!
Nice! Then they got blown out by Florida.
When I saw that Miami had gotten blown out in their bowl game that year I thought, Oh Sh _ t!, they aren't as good as we thought.
Didn't FSU shaft an undefeated conference champ West Virginia that year to get into the national championship game...... It didn't bother them then now its a problem
I was out to game and I saw a woman in a Fur coat for mine coming up the steps and I will horn. West Virginia beat Miami West Virginia beat Miami.
Jake the Snake 🐍
Turn that stupid music off!!!!!!
Music sucks
I was 3 years old, but I was there. And I was at the sugar bowl too
