Ordered this pedal and waiting for it to come in. However, I'm not a stereo user; my pedalboard is hooked up in mono. I was wondering if I was simply succumbing to G.A.S. (basically yes) or if the pedal would sound unique enough in mono to want to keep it. The dedicated modulation controls for depth and rate are ultimately what sell it for me. And this thing can get weeeeeeird. Thank you for fully exploring these controls and with high feedback.
I haven’t had a chance to listen properly yet, but do you demo this in mono at all, as that’s how I run my delay (in to my 1x12 cab), so the stereo effects are kind of wasted on me.
I’m generally not a fan of doing such things simply because it terms into a mono pedal. However, there are times such experiments pay off very well. I’ll give it a shot!
@@kierenmoore3236 in doubling mode? I disagree, but its a huge part of my sound out of the 200 pedala ive had thru my time playing guitar the only two pedals thats survived with me the longest are my DD7 and MZ2 lol cant EVER get rid of either
@@Noloveforspectre Sorry, tried to bash that out too quick?! As I said, I think the MZ-2 has character; its distortion was analogue, and all its modes benefit from that I think? The DD series tended to get more sterile as they went along, though started getting Hi-Cuts/modes to alleviate that, I believe (Analogman etc used to do Hi-Cut mods for the (then) later DDs, before Boss started including the same/similar themselves … I believe the MZ-2 was the first ‘hybrid’ pedal (analog + digital processing)?
Sounds clinical/sterile. Cool what they can cram in a compact pedal these days; but if there’s no character … I was told the Hi-Cut only affects the third-and-subsequent repeats … ?! 🙃 Would seem an odd choice … Is that the case, do you think?! Cheers! 🙏🏼
Could just be my playing that makes it sound clinical or sterile… 🤷🏻 😆 The Hi-Cut was difficult for me to notice subtle differences in the sweep. Maybe it was because it is on the third repeats and beyond, but I didn’t catch that specifically. If that’s the case, it is a little odd but I suppose it keeps the initial repeats more clear and then washes as it goes, as if it’s the cross feed getting the hi-cut. Not sure. I’ll definitely keep an ear out on that to see if I can pick it up! Thanks for bringing that up!
@@thepedalcollaborative. No, there’s no problem with your playing at all. As for the Hi-Cut, that’s just what I was told … could be nonsense, but even more difficult to tell over RUclips. I hope it does apply to all of the output, and that it is effective in warming up the sound/adding some character … Can always do that with external EQ & Effects, but it would be nice if the internal Hi-Cut actually did that job well … 🤷🏻♂️. Cheers
Haha thanks! These videos are tough because I’m trying to explore the sounds while recording and it can feel a bit sterile. Usually towards the end I find something that grabs my attention and I can sink my teeth into, which is definitely the case here! The hi-cut knob does do a good job at warming it up, but I find the depth and rate knob also play a big role in that too. All in all a really fun and useful pedal that can do all sorts of stuff! I bet with midi or expression it just opens up the possibilities immensely
Ya know, I haven't really looked closely at this pedal until this video and damn, looks pretty versatile.. Boss does it again...
100% pleasantly surprised by this pedal! It can be creamy and smooth and reach dizzying weirdness. Great job Boss

I think you’ll really like it! It’s a really great delay.
Wish everyone would use this form factor with the concentric knobs
Agreed! So much easier than secondary functions
sold !
It’s so good! Hope that helped :)

Not mono as of yet. I’m fairly passionate about stereo even though I know that majority of us play mono in live environments
I use this one on my bass board
Oh I bet that sounds incredible!
Better in dubly... Why not run the other stereo output back into the stereo input? Sounds like a great pedal.

What’s wrong with being sexy?!
Why doesn’t it sound sexy … ?
@kierenmoore3236 nothing wrong with being sexy or sounding sexy! I think you kinda want that in your tone, right??
@@thepedalcollaborative I do … was kinda hoping you’d keep the Spinal Tap references flowing, tho’ … 😉
Ahhhh I totally missed that! 🤦🏻♂️
Sounds like a DD7 going thru an MZ-2 (Metalizer) in doubling mode obly richer
Ooh interesting! I didn’t think of it that way, but nice description
MZ-2 has actual character, but yeah - DD-7 is pretty sterile
