The 2025 Toyota 4Runner isn't for everyone anymore. It's expensive, underpowered, and may have durability issues. These days, there's little difference between GM SUVs and Toyota trucks, except GM offers more value for Toyota's price. The only advantage of the new turbo engine is its port injection; otherwise, the turbo itself is a weak point and has been reported to fail unexpectedly. GM seems to be the better choice.
Yeah, but GM doesn't have a direct competitor to the 4runner. Of course, a tahoe/suburban will be better value compared to upper trim 4runners, but they are all bigger than the 4runner. 4runner is a midsized off-roading SUV that can do family duties as well.

Not that it's bad looking really, but I really don't like that the interior is copy and paste from Tacoma. They could've made it a little unique to the 4Runner.
Well, it went back to its roots with 4runner and Tacoma. The Tundra and Sequoia is literally a copy and paste. There are a few differences between tacoma and 4runner.

it looks like the 2nd row has less room than the 5th gen? why do they keep making the 2nd row smaller. everyone puts child seats back there.
Way underpowered with a 4 cyl. Count me out
I feel like the only trim I would consider is TRD ORP and Limited. I just don't see the point of other trim and they have been decontended/cheapened way too much for the price for my liking. But at this point might as well get the GX.
If the 2026 Honda Passport Trailsport is available in hybrid game over 4Runner.
The main appeal of the 4runner buyer base is its rugged old school SUV feel. The passport is just a rugged looking crossover that offers at best a light off-roading capability. No lockers and no solid frame architecture that are needed for challenging off-road conditions.
Beautiful looking vehicle but that I-4 engine is a deal breaker for me
I think the base off road with the iforce max.
Gonna wait a few years for them to get the kinks and recalls all out of the way...
7:07 start up sounds like a Toyota Corolla 😂 I like my 4.0 V6 start up sound.
*IS IT MADE in Japan though? Apparently yes.... TY Kirk
Yes
What the hell is this lower bumper lip on this thing. That just destroys all the ground clearance on this thing.
Still no leg room for Tall people in back seat!

Toyota and this guy is using the SR5 as a marketing tool for pricing but really the whole pricing of theses 4bangers is a crazy shit show. The smallest price difference outside of the sr5 is $4,000. That’s FN crazy
These are perfectly justified prices . New 4 runner is a excellent SUV with good power performance torque comfort tech features off road ability and miles better refinement than a bronco or wrangler. This is 2024 and not 2009

@@normanli7085 plz check gm website ..
Try to find one at that MSRP . You’re only going to see tons of options. Not to mention it’s 4 cylinder. Hard pass definitely on a new maybe a used
Owned a 2011 4Runner with a V6 engine. Don’t think I can go back to a 4 cylinder. Will not be buying the 2025 4 runner with a 4 cylinder engine. Sorry it’s just not enough power.
The lack of rear headroom is unacceptable in a vehicle so big
4 runner is not a big SUV whatsoever and Toyota have other vehicles for more interior space lol.this is a wrangler or bronco rival. not a highlander or something.
@@Mylifeislegendary982vd3-vIthen why offer a 3rd row on it?
@@adamton7274 3rd is offered for part time use and something 4 runner always had for a long time. There are models without that option as well

Passport is better. Rest in peace 4 runner
Picture of MAGA Hulk wasn’t necessary.
Why does it seem like Toyota keeps making their interiors smaller or feel smaller even when they’ve thrown smaller engines up front? Wouldn’t that give them a bit more room to work with for interior comfort?
$53,440 for the least expensive 4Runner with the IForce Max motor. Still pretty pricey.
No, the 4R to get is the 5th gen. 🤣
Did it 6 months ago and so damn happy I did. Bought it used and it’s worth more than I paid.
@@realJohnLab Hell yeah great decision. Bought my 5th gen new a year ago. Absolutely love it.
I stopped buying Toyota once they put a giant IPad screen that broke all the aesthetic lines and started stick up and towards the driver.

@@jjk109 Yeah. I feel some ways about it. Good job minimizing others instead of engaging in a meaningful response.
Just paid off my trd 4Runner, they can keep their car payment to themselves. No thanks.
Toyota pioneered lean manufacturing and Poka-Yoke mechanisms.
Having 9 different trims with negligible value difference will make quality suffer… it’s not surprising the prices are out of control.
Toyota was once the affordability and reliability, leader. Now they are neither.
They threw enthusiast and fanboys under the bus.
What a load of nonsense bullshit. There is nothing wrong with having multiple trim levels and prices points. Pricing is more than justified for the new 4 runner in every level. This 2024 and not 2006 or 2009. You so called enthusiast and fan boys don't represent the full Majority buyers want and caused Toyota to keep building a pathetic and uncompetitive vehicle for 14 years while everyone was getting better in Its segment.
@ Building uncompetitive vehicles? Toyota is the biggest and most successful automaker. For the past 10+ years they build at capacity at all of their production facilities.
Please go buy a 6 Gen 4Runner for 60k.. we will meet back here in 5 years and we will compare my 5ths cost of ownership vs your 6th.
These vehicles are financial suicide for most of Americans.
@@realJohnLab first John I said uncompetitive vehicle. (Not vehicles). Don't try to put words into my mouth. Current 5th gen 4Runner is a horrible vehicle and only survived because the Nissan Xterra and FJ cruiser got killed off. Otherwise the wrangler or bronco would killed the whole nameplate in one shot. Its funny because the current 4 runner is losing sales faster than a Tesla model s plaid doing 0.60. new turbo I4 and hybrid turbo I4 are excellent engines with Great power performance and more torque than a ford super duty 6.8l V8. Its already used in multiple vehicles as well. So get with the times and stop trying to put words into other people's mouth pal .
@@Mylifeislegendary982vd3-vI You must be drunk this morning. Vehicle or vehicles you’re wrong, even being an old design it still sold at capacity.
