My favorite freestyle of all time, still, even after Valegro and Charlotte at London 2012. This performance truly shows the Spanish heritage and the unity between horse and rider. Ultimate horsemanship. I watch it over and over again

Glenda Brown I would say it is the combination of horse and rider! I had one horse that was like MUSIC with me. He understood me and I him, it was a connection I will always remember and have never achieved since...I’ve come close, but nothing like English Falcon! An off the track TB. He was an awesome horse.
Still my favorite musical freestyle. It displays next to passionately ridden phenomenal dressage in very tough technical aspects, the ultimate partnership between horse and rider, the pride of this Spanish horse and heritage and last but not least the enjoyment in it all. He literally invites the audience to marvel with him during his ride and they get the message loud and clear.

@@SnidgetAsphodel It feels like the judges have some bias against Iberian horses in general. At the Tokyo Olympics, the Portuguese rider Rodrigo Torres and his Lusitano Fogoso delivered an impressive performance, and he was put behind Carl Ester who tried to put his horse's croup at the higher point, not to mention Jessica von Bredow-Werndl who got the golden medal while her horse had a hollow back all along. Sometimes I wonder if I still understand dressage.

The rider is classily trained in the Spanish/ Iberian style. The criticism I read of hands is absurd! The history of dressage is cavalry training, which is what I got from Granddaddy who was in Military school in the 19 teens. One hand needs to be free for a weapon, a lasso, to tip a hat in a park. A horse ridden with legs instead of German bridle torture is a useful companion. His hands are fine. You pursue artifice with low still hands.
Juan Manuel and Fuego XII won the night, if not in the eyes of the judges. He had to have known that the judges were going to slam him....and they did. He finished 5th. But he cared more about the exhilirating performance and appealing to the audience than he did about the score. I thought there was going to be a riot when they announced his score. Fuego and Totilas, two horses which completely take my breath away and move me to tears every time I watch their performances. Nothing is more beautiful than complete harmony between horse and rider.
I keep coming back to this amazing pair. That divine Horse! I mean , he can even do flying changes around the bend for goodness sake! I haven't see the warmbloods do that! I wonder what happened to him?
Gives me goosebumps and teary eyes with joy every time! The showmanship, the proud Spanish heritage, and the talent of horse and rider. This is how dressage ought to be; fun!
Love to see Spanish Andalusian horse in Grand Prix, Kudos to them and what a slap to prejudice judges who if it isn't warm blood don't like, Wonderful performance!
For me, is number one without any doubts; real dressage, with life, not a horse transformed into a mechanic, rigid, not free, not alive, not one with his rider
Absoloutly amazing!!! The horse and rider look like they're both having fun! You can really tell he loves this horse and what he's doing and that's what it's all about! :D
With a disengaged horse whos so ill trained their legs dont even move in sync in the trot? A horse who Piaffes hollow, not actually reaching under themselves? Looking at what you people consider "world class" im not surprised. Half of these riders should be disqualified over their horses broken neck alone.
Can´t watch this over and over again... What a performance! What a pair of spaniards! Insane extended canter to piaff! Incredible!!! For me the true winner of this night!!!!
I save this to Favorites so I can watch it all the time. I love this horse and rider. The horse is so darn cute. Rider is awesome to get him into the rhythm so perfectly. He's HUGE. LOL Love this pair.
Fuego is the most beautiful horse I have ever seen in my 60 years with horses. Simply breathtaking and at the end o their performance Juan can show off, they both deserve to. Perhaps Fuego isn't quite as technically correct as Velegro but who cares? Such a wonderful stallion and a superb job by Juan.
Blue Hors Matinee has a very memorable Kur as well, but doesnt have the same spirit Fuego has, but they would have made an astounding baby, too bad blue hors matinee passed away due to colic
I love tests like this. It reminds you that riding can just be about having fun with your horse and a bit of music, because this guy just looked like he was having a blast the entire time. :)
I love how is ears are airplaned at some points, issuing a challenge to the rider that says "Let's have some fun! This is boring!" But they're also back, listening, to his rider. The snaps of his legs are loud and clear and so much different than "Float like a butterfly," because this horse "stings like a bee."
I must admit, I'm extremely new to spectating dressage, so there is a WORLD of info I do not know. But... when i watched this horse and rider move, in absolute harmony, it spoke to me. How could anyone not see how beautiful this emotional dance is? Again i dont know the details of what's looked for. But me, a nobody, was moved by this performance... therefore it had to have been magical for those who do this for a living. I'm left with goosebumps ❤
Such a great performance - I still get goosebumps; Juan Manuel Munoz Diaz and Fuego XII did both a great job with a lot of sweat, but they both offered a great show to every one. Thanks
After watching Totilas *And while I love that KWPN, Gal just... I don't know, the way Totilas held his head was bothering me.* seeing this horse is just amazing. I seriously want to get to this level of riding someday.
----2 months late---oops---lol---and I agree--Totilas is on good horse--BUT gal uses rollkur--which is sooo blind to see by new riders, ALMOST all of his supporters are NEW to the sport---I knew I was a few years back, and I loved them like no other team, now they are like ---LEAVE! lol ---if you know what I mean- How can the olympics allow such a thing to happen to horses? When clearly, you can tell and also they do it as training--you will find tons of articles about gal using rollkur and Anky too YET THEY STILL ARE COMPETING---and when lochte-U.S. swimmer breaks a rule--he gets banned. WHY? doesnt the same thing happen with riders who use Rollkur?
This stallion is amazing he is clearly loved and well cared for this stallion is enjoying the music his paces wow so fluent that crest of a neck its a shame there arent any of these stallions competing in dressage
This is so amazing beautiful work and his horse and him are in perfect unison in everything ! He did a FANTASTIC job and makes sure he does his best at every piece in his work and has a gorgeous horse!!!
The most astonishing Kur I have ever seen in my life 👌👌👌 this is what Dressage should be 😉Enjoying your horse while giving your best, he deserved a place in the podium🤭well somebody must shake a little the Dressage world otherwise people will start to support more spectacular sports in to the Olympics in the near future. 😉

THIS IS NOT AMAZING. The neck comes higher than the ears and his tail comes higher because he is stressed, and you never seen this horse in nature so it is BUSE!!!>:CCC I HATE THAT OWNER!!!
This by far is the best pair I've ever seen: stunningly beautiful horse, handsome gentleman rider, and perfect equestrian chemistry. The horse sure looks like he's dancing with the music! Bravo!!!! ❤❤❤
I was sitting in the athletes section at the ingate when we watched this amazing performance! Maybe his "technique" wasn't perfect but it was one of the most entertaining performances of the Dressage Freestyle. Being at the gate, we were able to see all the athletes up close and personal. They all stopped and gave all of us athletes a wave and a big smile! What a night!!!
Fun video. I really enjoy it at the end when Fuego shows off. LOL Kudo's to Juan Manuel for staying on but then again I've watched their work out video's. The rider and horse make an excellent team.
The most beautiful freestyle I've ever seen, I can't believe he only got fifth place. I have a question about this performance. I noticed Fuego's ears were back for most of the performance. I was taught that when a horse's ears were back it meant that he was very unhappy with what he was doing. Does that rule apply in this case?
It depends on the horse and the rest of the body language. Ears flicking back all the time like this video could just mean he's really paying attention to what's behind him (his rider). Ears pinned back generally is the 'screw off' language. Add tense muscles (not tense as in collected but tense as in ready to run or fight) and sometimes teeth and you get the clear warning of anger/ frustration. Ears back but head way up and muscles tensed could mean fear or uncertainly. They'll also tend to bend their necks towards what they're afraid of. A single ear back, is more 'I'm paying attention over in this direction' as in the rider. If you free lunge your horse the ear would be flicked towards the centre of the round pen (towards you) ears to the side and held drooping down (not to be confused with them pointed in opposite directions) can mean 'I'm past exhausted'. Ears will flicker or hold in the direction of interest, or towards a scary object, to indicate fear or discomfort, anger or submission, excitement or annoyance. It really depends on the animal itself and what other body language they exhibit. I had a horse that if he pricked his ears forward and arched his neck in the cross-ties it meant he was going to take a bite out of the next idiot to walk in front of him. He had figured out what humans deem 'approachable body language' and used it to his advantage. (Mind he was creepy smart. During riding lessons when we did the jumping course you could see his head following the rider on course and without fail if the rider was tossed or the horse managed to get away with something he would try to do the same thing) he also figured out that he can knock poles out of their little cups when I was adjusting the other side of the jump and if I had him where he couldn't do that he'd pull the standard back until it dropped the pole. Also if I wasn't paying attention when I was waiting by a jump, if there were two poles on the jump he would duck his head under the lowest pole and get it right over the poll of his head and gently lower it down so it wouldn't make that clunk sound and he'd do the same to the top pole so instead of jumping a vertical you'd turn towards it and it would be a large X jump instead.) he was a brat but I loved him anyway.
Kitsune Hiame Thank you so much for your comments about horse "Body Language". I did not realize that their body language had more than one meaning. I loved the story about your horse "brat". We had a pony that thought he was "Harry Houdini". No matter how many ropes or even chains we used to secure the gate between the paddock and the neighbors beautifully cultivated lawn, I would hear my Mom's voice up the stairs saying "get your but down here and go find those animals before the neighbors call." One night in the summer I decided to try to spend the night out on the porch so I could catch the "culprit" in the act . Even I was impressed! Our pony ignored all those ropes and chains. He stuck his head through the space underneath the gate and pushed the entire gate up until the gate came off it's hinges creating just enough space to let both of them escape. I was supposed to be angry, but I was so impressed I had to give the pony an A for effort. Then we made sure BOTH sides of the gate were tied down and that solved the escape mystery!
Horses can be so creative sometimes. One of the riding places I volunteered at used to tie the horses that the 5-6 yr olds that would be riding to the ring fence all tacked up. The kids were too small to lift a saddle up into the horses back. So their only job was to put the bridle on and then do the brushing and hoof picking after their lesson. This one pony in the paddock next to the fence used to pull at the quick release knots of any horse within reach and sometimes we'd go down there expecting to boost the kids into the saddle only to see half a dozen horses loose and eating the lawn. Thankfully, since these were the little kids horses they weren't the kind to get into mischief. Another story, in the new barn with the indoor ring we had this one side of the ring had a mirror like wall (it wasn't made of glass because of the horses but I don't know what it was made of). Well there was this one really young stallion that was being trained up for sale. When we were doing the more complicated courses or dressage patterns the ones who weren't going at the moment would usually be standing somewhere out of the way watching. This one stallion liked to stand infront of the mirror wall and while you were paying attention to the rider who was riding, he'd be making poses in the mirror. It was hilarious. He'd stand there checking himself out, arching his neck all pretty, look at himself some more. Decide that his mane looked better on the other side of his neck so he'd toss his head until it all on the other side and then go back to staring at himself. It was funny because he'd be staring at himself the entire time as he carefully manoeuvred his body so that he looked the best. I'm not sure why he was so facinated by himself. If he was being a brat in the crossties because there was a mare and he could smell it or he was just having an off day, we'd drag the old full length mirror from the tack room (meant for riders to make sure they were neat and tidy before a show really) and place it in front of his majesty and he'd go right into his 'aren't I the best looking creature here?' posing. We also had this Arabian. Beautiful horse, perfect conformation and a wonderful attitude. We started showing her in halter classes. Problem arose that whenever she saw the judges she would stand there in her pose all pretty... Except her tongue would be hanging out like she was sticking her tongue out at everyone. She only did this in halter classes and she was in halter so there was no bit that she would be trying to avoid. I think I have pictures somewhere too.

El arte ecuestre para mí es de lo mejor dé España; pero esta dupla son lo mejor que he visto en mi vida. Elegante y bellísimo
Love to see Spanish Andalusian horse in Grand Prix, Kudos to them and what a slap to prejudice judges who if it isn't warm blood don't like, Wonderful performance!
Dressage rider and horse actually looking like they are enjoying themselves!!!! I love this!!!
For me, is number one without any doubts; real dressage, with life, not a horse transformed into a mechanic, rigid, not free, not alive, not one with his rider
Simplemente hermoso!!! Este caballo ha dejado una historia difícil de igualar🍀
Maravilloso!!
Absoloutly amazing!!! The horse and rider look like they're both having fun! You can really tell he loves this horse and what he's doing and that's what it's all about! :D
That’s Dressage how we really like to watch it. Thx!
FEI
FEI you write in the name of FEI?
Dressage is easy I have done it in a long time though
With a disengaged horse whos so ill trained their legs dont even move in sync in the trot? A horse who Piaffes hollow, not actually reaching under themselves? Looking at what you people consider "world class" im not surprised. Half of these riders should be disqualified over their horses broken neck alone.
This is legendary ❤
Legendary!! I've seen this video over and over and over again! ❤

The whole performance brought tears to my eyes - amazing horse, amazing rider!
Absolutely LOVE this freestyle!!! My Favorite and the two of them, What a Pair!!!
I don't know how many times I've watched this and I cry every time I see it - I don't understand how that performance could ever be topped!
Blue Hors Matinee has a very memorable Kur as well, but doesnt have the same spirit Fuego has, but they would have made an astounding baby, too bad blue hors matinee passed away due to colic
K. native irish italian mix As I recall, she broke her leg, not colic.
I love tests like this. It reminds you that riding can just be about having fun with your horse and a bit of music, because this guy just looked like he was having a blast the entire time. :)
And so did Fuego!
What a couple! Just amazing PRE horse and a great rider, they both look happy. Thank you Spain for so beautiful breed
Watching this made my day! Incredible partnership and showmanship. joy!
Thanks
Never get tired of watching this pair. Beautiful performance.
Це просто КОСМОС! Щось неймовірне!!! Es simplemente maravilloso. ¡¡¡Espacio!!! ¡El caballo y el jinete son uno!
One of the best rides ever...Love the horse - love the music - just beautiful.
That was beautiful, I have goosebumps! Dances with hooves! GoFuegoGo!
Потрясающий, неповторимый, всё в идеале, сотый раз смотрю, дух захватывает.
Я тоже ! 🐴🥰
After watching Totilas *And while I love that KWPN, Gal just... I don't know, the way Totilas held his head was bothering me.* seeing this horse is just amazing.
I seriously want to get to this level of riding someday.
Me too. I'd love to learn dressage. Looks insanely hard but very beautiful and fun.
----2 months late---oops---lol---and I agree--Totilas is on good horse--BUT gal uses rollkur--which is sooo blind to see by new riders, ALMOST all of his supporters are NEW to the sport---I knew I was a few years back, and I loved them like no other team, now they are like ---LEAVE! lol ---if you know what I mean-
How can the olympics allow such a thing to happen to horses? When clearly, you can tell and also they do it as training--you will find tons of articles about gal using rollkur and Anky too YET THEY STILL ARE COMPETING---and when lochte-U.S. swimmer breaks a rule--he gets banned. WHY? doesnt the same thing happen with riders who use Rollkur?
i dont know why it put a line through those---- strange

I love how Fuego actually looks like he is enjoying himself! Totilas....does not
Absolutely loved seeing this team live for this performance. 💯 the crowd favourite. The music was perfect for this pair.
This stallion is amazing he is clearly loved and well cared for this stallion is enjoying the music his paces wow so fluent that crest of a neck its a shame there arent any of these stallions competing in dressage
What a gorgeous horse. Such fluid movements. Looks like he's just gliding along. Well done!!!
This is so amazing beautiful work and his horse and him are in perfect unison in everything ! He did a FANTASTIC job and makes sure he does his best at every piece in his work and has a gorgeous horse!!!

❤️Oh my heart. Performances like this make me cry. Every time. 😭😍❤️
Most fantastic performance I’ve seen. Watched many over the years. How they did not win seems rigged to me. Brought tears to my eyes to watch.
El mejor equino que he mirando y un gran jinete los felicito por su gran presentación
I could watch this video ALL DAY
Really?, me too. Have you notice the energy& the transcitions which are almost imperceptableThe do know each other as good as they can do
Still my favourite dressage test of all time .....the connection between horse and rider is wonderful....this is how it should be .... still gives me goosebumps .....
Whyyyyy did he not win first place? Such a beautiful Kur.
The dressage judges have a lot to answer for.
His aids were too obvious.
You can not give permission to the edition that the Spaniards are the best riders in the interests of driving
@@LouieBeethoven - Having watched a lot of dressage tests at the highest levels over more years than I care to claim, saying his aids (aka cues for the non-dressage riders here) were too obvious made me laugh out loud. The winner of this competition gave a relatively subtle ride, but so many of the riders at the Grand Prix level are hauling on the reins and jabbing their horses in the ribs the whole way round.
Bravo!!!! ❤❤❤
Majesty, joy, passion -- what a pair, what a moment, thank you both !
It's simply amazing how big these horse's hearts are and how they can compensate when put in a straight jacket.
Que bien lo hiso..que maravilla..que espectaculo..que emoccion..olle..se acelero un poco hacia el final...pero hasta eso le lucio. BRAVO!!
So beautiful brought tears to my eyes!
Looks a lot of fun, but it's dedication (extreme). Phenomenal training both the rider and the horse are incredible
Polo kibble in my head with the ball first of in my pocket but then I u hh hh n r. Uuuńbbbbrbd . In it I think 🤔 is
I literally cry everytime I see this, it's that beautiful! I can't believe they only finished in 5th place, they were the winners in my eyes!
breakevenize you would understand the 5 place when you see this rider riding a warmblood.
Fabulous fabulous fabulous... What a horse and rider! High-stepping and so animated along with perfect transitioning.
Si alguien se merece el premio es si duda ese caballo. Dios es maravilloso, elegante precioso
Los mejores caballos del planeta, de España no hay más
Lo he visto cientos de veces es precioso
amazing!!! This is the most fun freestyle I've ever seen- totally what the freestyle should be!! Love PREs :-)
He's so light handed with his horse - a beautiful duo!
Espectacular Dressage De La Ostia El jinete y su Bello y Hermoso Caballo!!!!!🇦🇷👏👏👏👏👏🇦🇷
That's why I love Andalusians (and other Baroque breeds)...
Fuego's trot was nearly a Spanish Walk. PRE/Andalusians are the most beautiful of all.
Fun video. I really enjoy it at the end when Fuego shows off. LOL Kudo's to Juan Manuel for staying on but then again I've watched their work out video's. The rider and horse make an excellent team.

Unos de mis vídeos FAVORITOS ...lo habré visto de veces...!!!
They say that Secretariat did the same thing. He would stop and turn towards the sound of most cameras.
you can tell his ears are back but he is not putting them back out of aggression he's put him back because he is listening to the rider
I watch this to inspire me to ride with joy, power, vitality, passion
