if you think that this horse and rider is in harmony, your dead wrong. this horse is obviously in rollkur position and is in many cases in ldr position as well. even though he has a good moving back end, he still is being shown in the worse way possibly... rollkur and ldr. he is a big mover..but just looking at his mouth... it makes me sad.. he is contanstly opening and closing it... in pain is what that means. ears sometimes pinned back.. tight at the poll... he also has nothing but unnatural gaits... i dont see perfection with this.. i see cruelty.

The front feet should never lift that high..its unnaturalll.. many believe he was even sored, which many believe unlikely as he isn't a tenesee walking horse or gaited breed. He always enters the arena covered in sweat from a overworked warm up. He has been in the warm up arena for 2 hours before a test working a horse... I've never liked watching edward..ive only seen one of his rides not involving rollkur or LDR or a tight and tense horse. Only once, and theirs many videos about him. He has been discover riding Toto Jr. in rollkur and LDR through a 30 minute session. and even During a test!!! THIS SHOULDNT BE ALLOWED! IF HE WAS IN THE US..HE WOULDN'T BE ALLOWED TO RIDE LILE HE DOES. HE WOULD BE BANNED FROM HIS FIRST COMPETITOON HERE IN THE US!!! Im truly sorry for the horses he owns and riides...I hope they can find a better home..and that edward gets punished for his cruel methods...

If you rewatch the Secratariat videos, check out Sham. He was right behind Secratariat in the derby, and the Preakness but when they got to the last race and he couldn’t catch him, his heart broke and he finished last. Any other year Sham would’ve been a triple crown winner. Sham and I will always be buddies!

Die zwei haben einfach perfekt zusammen gepaßt! Edward ist super feinfühlig und man sieht, wie willig das Pferd ist. Von Zwang keine Spur, kein Schweifschlagen, nichts, einfach nur Harmonie! Totilas hätte nie verkauft werden und von diesem Matthias geritten bzw. versaut werden dürfen. Das war der Untergang seiner Karriere!
Ja. Schön verworfen im Genick und herrlich ungleich abfußende Beine. Wunderbar auch die hinterherschlappende Hinterhand. Vom herrlich eng gezurrten Kehlgang ganz zu schweigen. Und wie wunderbar es diesem Reiter gelingt, das nervös knabbernde Maul herauszuarbeiten. Eine geschlossene Grußaufstellung ist auf internationalem GP-Niveau vollkommen überflüssig geworden, das müssen nur die Idioten auf ländlichem E-bis-L-Niveau zeigen.

Mathilde Wesendonck Ich gehöre keineswegs zu denjenigen, die diesbezüglich übermäßig pienzig sind, ehrlich. Gleichwohl finde ich (und nicht nur ich) die übermäßig aufgegrellten Bewegungsabläufe dem Dressursport abträglich. Der "Sündenfall" war m. E. Matinée. Auch ich war damals noch naiv genug zu glauben, dass die Stute ihren absolut spektakulären Bewegungsablauf lediglich aufgrund hervorragenden Materials zeigte. Stutzig musste man werden, als die Pferde einer bestimmten "Ausbildungsschule" auf einmal alle im Versammelten Trab die Lichter austraten, dafür aber in der Verstärkung kaum mehr als ein durchschnittliches Pferd überfußten.

Totilas is a Royal Dutch Warmblood! It is just important to be a good combination. This video and many others of totilas and edward are very special! You will never seen this again:(

At about 5.20 you can see him give a big release with both hands up the neck, I would say he felt Toto was too tight and he was encouraging him to take the bit forward. He does this a lot on this horse and others. He pats him throughout. This horse, to me, doesn't appear distressed, his mouth being weighed on by pounds of force applied via the reins, Edward rides very forward with his hands. He's a stunning rider, he barely moves (except his legs) check out "Taming of Totilas"-excellent vid
agreed, I know his partner (miss Werner and the stables Edward trains) the horse was special in exterior but also in his stamina and acceptance of Gal; of course he was worked hard and sometimes too hard, but Gal adores his horses and never abuses them, including Totilas. If a horse is completely broken it's impossible to reach this level.
I strongly disagree..... Its not always infront of a camera where they use rollkur and you can see that there are some moments where he still does it to his horse.... As much as they look like the perfect pair, they are certainly not. And i might be wrong but for me, the gates don't look that natural, again i might be wrong

@beetlemk I TOTALLY agree with you. My comments are just bit sarcastic. I'm so sick of all those who rip apart these great riders and their equine dance partners who obviously love their work. Anyone who is really experienced can see that the horse's back is relaxed, as shown when the reins are dropped. And that is the true test.
Selbst Schockemöhle kritisiert Rath jetzt. Warum? Rath ist zu jung und trotz Erfolgen noch viel zu unerfahren. Wenn ich Bilder von Rath's Gesicht beim Reiten von Totilas sehe, sehe ich da Bewunderung und Unsicherheit. Er ist Totals hoffnungslos unterlegen. Rath ist einfach keine Respektsperson. Das merkt auch Totals. Auch so ein Pferd muss geritten werden und gewinnt nicht von allein! Noch nicht mal für 10 Millionen!
Ich habe in der dressur noch nie so viel hamonie gesehen wie bei diesem paar es ist als wenn die musik auf totilas leib geschreiben ist. Man merkt auch das die trakehner abstamung zu seinen gunsten aus fällt . Ein so tolles tier wird es nach ihm nicht mehr geben !!
Schau doch bitte mal hin zB beim rausgehen im Schritt am langen zügel. da kann man ganz deutlich sehen DASS er übertritt. wow, und ich würde mal sagen: gewagtes kommentar! wenn man in deinen videos ja sehen kann, dass bei dir ohne ausbinder/dreieckszügel noch gar nix geht bzw auch mit noch nicht viel. sorry, aber bring das pferd, das du reitest erstmal mit ausbindern dazu loszulassen, überzutreten und dabei noch bisserl anlehung am zügel zu finden, dann ohne ausbinder und dann reden wir weiter.
If these horses didn't enjoy what they did, they simply would not do it. They are 1200lb animals and if they didn't want to do something we would not be able to get them to do it, let alone flawlessly like Totilas. This is amazing!
Er war der BESTE bis er kaputtgemacht wurde. Die Menschen vergessen immer das ein Tier auch eine Seele hat und geliebt und verstanden werden möchte. Solange ein Tier nur eine "Sache" ist wird sich auch nie etwas ändern.
Für mich ist Totilas unter Edward Gal ein anderes Pferd als unter Rath. Mathias Rath ist weit von der Leistung entfernt, die ich in diesem Video bei Edward Gal sehe. In Aachen kam mir Totilas bei vielen Lektionen zu tief. Für mich sind die beiden Holländer das perfekte Paar. Das sage ich als Deutsche …

Ich habe in der dressur noch nie so viel hamonie gesehen wie bei diesem paar es ist als wenn die musik auf totilas leib geschreiben ist. Man merkt auch das die trakehner abstamung zu seinen gunsten aus fällt . Ein so tolles tier wird es nach ihm nicht mehr geben !!

Schau doch bitte mal hin zB beim rausgehen im Schritt am langen zügel. da kann man ganz deutlich sehen DASS er übertritt.
wow, und ich würde mal sagen: gewagtes kommentar! wenn man in deinen videos ja sehen kann, dass bei dir ohne ausbinder/dreieckszügel noch gar nix geht bzw auch mit noch nicht viel.
sorry, aber bring das pferd, das du reitest erstmal mit ausbindern dazu loszulassen, überzutreten und dabei noch bisserl anlehung am zügel zu finden, dann ohne ausbinder und dann reden wir weiter.

If these horses didn't enjoy what they did, they simply would not do it. They are 1200lb animals and if they didn't want to do something we would not be able to get them to do it, let alone flawlessly like Totilas. This is amazing!
@kkique27 I TOTALLY agree. People need to look at the walk. That is why it gets a x2 factor. It tells you if the horse is tense (or unhappy).

Er war der BESTE bis er kaputtgemacht wurde. Die Menschen vergessen immer das ein Tier auch eine Seele hat und geliebt und verstanden werden möchte. Solange ein Tier nur eine "Sache" ist wird sich auch nie etwas ändern.
Gebt Totilas seinem Edward zurück,bitte! Rath reitet ihn doch nur kaputt ;(

In Aachen kam mir Totilas bei vielen Lektionen zu tief. Für mich sind die beiden Holländer das perfekte Paar. Das sage ich als Deutsche …
