There’s a reason Charlotte is so successful. She carries a soft hand and communicates well with her horses. I see relaxed and fluid movements and horses that appear in perfect sync with their rider. I see too many riders with a “one direction ticket” shooting off cues to their mount with no real connection. It ends up looking tense and robotic. Charlotte and Valero look like liquid.

FEI needs to make her ban permanent. She did not have “an error in judgement”, she had a pattern of abuse and it was so normal to her that she allowed it to be recorded.

Tell me how do you suggest getting a napping horse to move out when he ignores less aggressive cues like voice and cracking a whip?? Then what???

There needs to be systemic change in the industry. And understanding given to a broken person in a broken system. What she did was unequivocally wrong. But she's also deserving of some understanding and the realization that change needs to begin somewhere. She is already going to suffer, regardless of ban. Let's allow her to be human and both be capable of doing something so wrong and yet also loving horses and the sport. And let's show her something other than the worst of humanity that only wants to crucify villains for their transgressions. Not excused or forgiven, but not thrown out forever either.

Whipping is the less agressive abuse they use. For the dancing movements It is used acid applied to the Horse hooves base.

One thing I've always noticed about this footage, the way the lighting affects his coloring. I've seen Valegro in other arenas, both outside and inside and he is, in normal light, a beautiful dark bay. But here, he almost looks grullo. Something about this lighting brings out the blue in his coat, and he really lives up to his Blueberry barn name!

Probably because this was during the winter so he was clipped. In outdoor footage it’s likely he has his full summer coat so he would look more jet black
