Nice Review..👍 I have a Hiby r3 gen II, great sound & loved it, sadly I dropped it & the screen is blank it turns on & there’s power but cannot use it, gutted is an understatement, I bought off eBay for £165, I’ve contacted Hiby & they say I can send it back & if it’s only a screen it needs it’s not that expensive, worried when they get it in China they will end up charging the earth to fix it. I’ve been looking at a Sony NW-A55 on eBay & tempted to buy it, obviously I know what the Hiby sound is like but concerned that you mentioned the audible hiss on the Sony..🤔🤔 Apologies for the long comment..😂😂
About the only customization of the interface is with the Library Top Screen, where you can choose the items that will appear on it and arrange them. I don't mind the circles around the buttons, although I think it would be an improvement if they made them look more like real buttons.
Hello, does this DAP hiby R3 II mount on a Mac like a external hard drive? The Shanling does it, it's very practical, but the FIIO does not do it and it's a real problem to macusers them to transfer the files to the DAP Thanks for your good video !
The only real difference between the two is that the r3 ii has a 4.4mm jack, instead of 2.5mm on saber. So if you have headphones or Iems with 4.4 jack and you want a player with decent amount of power without spending too much - then r3 II is the choice.
@@PerputuallyCensored Have you tried the headphones that come with the Sony? I saw in other reviews that these headphones are optimized to work on the Sony. Perhaps with them there is no background noise like there is with other headphones. I'm between that Sony and that hiby, I still haven't decided jsjsj
I've used ClearAudio+ and I like the effect it has on my music. I just leave it on. The only issue with it is that if you turn it on it locks out the other available audio effects.
They sound pretty much the same. One doesn't sound better. The only audible sound differences are in the noise floor and power/volume output. The Hiby has a lower/silent noise floor and has more power. Both sound great.
Hi, have you ever tried using Mr walkman mod firmware in your A55 unit? I'm quite satisfied with A55 warm sound (I'm using Mr. Walkman mod firmware). But I'm considering to replace my old Sony A55 due to battery issue and it's already discontinued. I'm looking for a DAP with comparable sound quality and affordable price. Do you think Hiby R3 II would be a worth upgrade for my a55?
I did a review of my A55. Go and have a look at that as it answers some of your questions. This video answers your other questions. I do have the mod, yes. Can't say I noticed much difference in sound with and without the mod. I say in this video what device I prefer overall and which sound I prefer.

On the Sony, can you customise the interface? Those white rings around the media buttons annoy me.

I swear I'm getting gapless on dsotm with the latest firmware on the r3 II. Also, the audible hiss it's a deal breaker on the Sony.

Have you tried the Sony clean audio option? how good is it? I have heard that that is the reason to buy that player.
I have but not enough to praise it. I don't use such filters. Do some of them change the sound? Yes. Do they make it sound "better"? Debatable.

I'm not sure as I don't use EQ. It does have EQ options but unsure of Parametric specifically.
