Still plugin battery or not
That thing is a beast when plugged in..I gotta get this speaker for sure😁
60W when plugged in and 30W when not plugged in. I have one of these and the difference is immediately noticeable. Because of the size, it you are using it in portable mode you're better buying a dedicated potable Bluetooth speaker such as the Anker soundcore motion+, it's 30W but is a better size and is waterproof. The onyx studio 5 when plugged in is an absolute beast. Makes me smile every time I use it.
More like 50w when plugged in and 25w when unplugged
Onyx 5 still play on 50 watts while plugged/not, it just increase the volume a little bit when plugged
Hello. I observed that there is a firmware update at the back on the HK onyx studio 5. What exactly is it for? Can I really update the firmware and how?
@@FahadZ71 I wrote the support and the HK connect app isn't made for the speakers onyx 5 and 6, the support said it's for onyx 4 so that's why it doesn't work. I wrote them again today and asked for a firmware update, but they didn't wrote back yet. I can tell you more in maybe two days
In the manual it explains the ac mode. The studio 5 has a dual amplifier system in it. According to the manual it output power is (1x50wtts ac mode) so when on battery it is only using one of the amplifiers. Read the manual. Plus the power of the battery is less than the 19.2.0 votlts that the power supply feeds into the studio 5. So think about battery life if this thing was using both amplifiers when on the battery. Play time will be significantly lower than advertised.
Bi amping doesnt work that way. If one amp from bi amp isnt working, that will mean either the woofer or tweeter wont be working at all. HK most probably limited power output via the board.
This was one of my doubt, You cleared it ❤️🔥
Loved your video bro 😍
It all depends on the condition of the battery, even if the speaker is brand new. If the battery is in perfect condition, you would still hear a big difference when plugged in. Ive had a new unit that was totally shit on battery but when plugged in the difference was HUGE. The power brick is 19v, and that is what is needed to fully power the speaker. The Onyx 5 has a single 4.2v (3.7v nominal) 18650 li-ion and even with a step up, it will never reach 19v or anything near that. HK made it so to save battery power, even so batt life is shit. Plugging it in would be the only way to make the speaker shine, on batt it does not impress at all, even more so if your batt is screwed in the first place.
The Oynx 3 Has A Different Sound From AC To DC Mode As Well.
I have the first onyx studio. And the difference between plugged and unplugged its the same as day and night.
Hi Willington! I love your videos! I was just wandering from your last video which speaker you would recommend? Which has better sound quality? The JBL Xtreme 2 or the Harman Kardon Onyx Studio 5. Thank you again for your time!😊
I personally think the Xtreme 2 has a better sound quality, but for someone who leans more towards Bass, then the Studio 5 would be it.
Thank you so much! I will go back to the other video and use the link in the description to buy the JBL xtreme 2 to help your channel! Thank you again for responding. You’re one of the only RUclipsrs who responds to the comments!😁
And wich is louder? Good video
does anyone know how to update them? mine is at 4.8 and i think there is a 5.0 firmware
Still to this day i want this speaker but for a potable speaker i prefer ruggedness and battery life + usb C charging
AC mode allows more low end frequencies to be presented than DC mode. Also Anker has a new model called the Anker Zero that would be a good comparison as they have a similar appearance.
Im trying to get my hands on the zero hopefully sooner that later
@@DLXWillington duuude tey to get a Zero plus it said to have Dolby Atmos
It doesnt allows more low end frequencies...more volume and thats all. Al 100 % vol the battery cant do the same job playing bass...so there is the reason of plugged in diference
hello, I want to request a battle between onyx studio 5/6 vs go +play. many people want to hear those side by side.
there are some videos out there, but they arrant nearly as good as what happens here on this channel
hey man can you please do a outdoor test of studio 5?
Can you tell me exactly what it is? Mode and dc mode? 😐
Γιώργος Τζικος AC mode means using the speaker with the charger, DC mode means using the speaker by its battery
Problem is max volume bass sound lost!
Not much Different love the video.
Thanks
You make good one. i didn't find any changes.
So you should buy one...
I have the onyx studio 5 Is best speaker indoor More bass not autdoor jbl bomboox Is indoor and autdoor
I have the onyx studio 7 and to get ac mode you jusy plug it in that’s all?
which one is the best onyx 4 or 5. i see from reviews onyx 4 have 60W rms. while onyx 5 40W rms
Onyx 5 is 50w...more bass
@@cristianorsa1888 true
i think onyx 4 is better
can i conect this spekers on wall with ordeneri cable not with the original????
So the plugged in makes it louder issue if fixed on the Xtreme 2?
how about connection: AUX vs Bluetooth 4.2
can HK Onyx 6 play while charging when in ac mode?
Doesnt it affect the battery when in ac mode
I need speaker like this but with stereo.
I have onyx studio 5 gray))
When it plugged in, it is louder than xtreme 2?
Михаил Мартиросян same question
xtreme 2 isn't that loud anymore lmfao, onyx 4 destroys xtreme 2
Hey can you clear one thing? I've onyx studio 4 and I mostly listen in AC mode at my home, while it detoriate the battery life?
I can't say for sure regarding the studio 5, but I used the vavavoom 21 plugged in all the time with my echo dot and it died after about 7 months of use. Not sure if that was a quality issue or it's something that could happen to the studio 5 to.
Being that they are made to be used either way u shouldnt worry ppl always use there onyxs plugged in!
To be honest i am using my hk studio 4 24/7 on ac and its batterry after one year became really bad.
Like with all lithium based batteries, keeping it plugged in all the time will kill it over time. To keep up battery life, it's always recommended you allow the battery to be used and charged. Ideally, lithium batteries are best kept up when charging it once it falls to 40%, and then charging it to just 80%. Due its nature, it takes up very little of a charge cycle to go to 80-85%. Beyond that, charge cycle wear begins to accelerate quickly. It is hard on the battery to charge up to 100. The same is true for your phones, laptops, etc. However practical it may be is of course a personal matter. Though, seeing as how the onyx 5 can't tell you the capacity, that'll be difficult to manage. Let your batteries exercise, they'll live longer.
My sound got flat i dont know why maybe i just fantazie but could it be that my speaker lost some bass?
Press bluetooth and minus button for 10 sec , than it will maybe be in low frequency mode again, if it's the reverse just press the buttons again, it could be our fantasy
@@lennertboelaert1856 does not work sorry
@@P0Lak2012 how is it now? Did you do anything to improve it? Did you lose bass in battery mode or plugged in mode?
Does playing while plugged in kill battery over tike?
As with all lithium based batteries, it's never recommended to leave it plugged it. Charging a lithium battery to 100 is very hard on the battery. Keeping them charged between 40%-80% is the sweet spot and will help the battery last longer
Will it still work without a battery? I'd much rather just use the power cord
Jon Gordon Sure it will
@@speakerguy9468 i bought 4 of them about 3 months ago was going to use them for work then got laid off because of the pandemic so I gave them away as birthday presents i did use one of them for a little bit and it sounded better than the JBL Boombox!!!!
Jon Gordon Yeah, it was an amazing bluetooth speaker, just the battery is bad due to they only used a single 18650 (3823mAh) battery on such a large speaker...sound wise is impressive
@@speakerguy9468 yeah the sound is very impressive much smaller than the JBL Boombox but an amazing sound so now I just use my Beoplay S3 i have 3 of them and they too are amazing just wish they still made them, now all you can find is used one's on eBay
does this happen with onyx 4 as well?
Yes
See you next time with charge 4 peace
👍
i dont know what buy)) go+play or onyx 5)) what better?? louder?))
Buy Go and play.better sound.
@@nicklasg5775 i listen goplay)) dont like treble((((
I have booth.Go+play is better.And play louder
What the prices? The go+play costs 100$ more in my country and that’s why I bought the onyx 5, but the go+play is louder and bigger. It’s not as portable and the bass is about the same. AC mode onyx 5 is about as loud as the go+play. The onyx 5 is 50w whilst the go+play is 100w.
@@youmayu goplay ac mode or dc mode not much difficult))) not 50 and 100 watt)) little bit louder)
I have the studio 5 for about 2 years now i feel the quality have droped alot i wud say about 50% less quality, is there any update or anything can fix this, have to have max sound on to get what was half to max volumet as now, please help if anyone have the same issue
Wow... this is a first. What seems to have changed? Max volume? Tightness of bass?
@@AbsoluteFidelity no bass is still there, is the total volume over all, have to have full volume to get where it use to be on 50% volume, i just have bin useing it inside on TV and computer
@@jps4174 was the change sudden or gradual? So only overall volume changed and nothing else?
@@AbsoluteFidelity gradual over time, bass is still good
@@jps4174 could very well be a failing capacitor. You gotta get it checked because it will totally fail after sometime. Luckily, capacitors are not expensive.
Little difference
