    On the Empress- the cow represents Hathor as she is sometimes depicted in cow form with blue stars. She personified love, beauty, dance, motherhood and joy.

      And she's also green by the fact she's Mother Nature, from which womb everything has emerged from non-existence to existence.

    Maybe I can help. High Preistess.
    3 vertical lines, from what I was told represents the feminine demographic.
    Maiden, Mother, Crone.
    3 horizontal lines represent strength, growth, vitality, energy.
    The only reason I'm commenting your video asks for opinions.

    GREAT VIDEO!! We need more videos like this. People really don't go deep into symbolism and it is incredibly important to having a successful reading :)

    I think the Hierophant's BB refers to Big Brother, as the masked/faceless Pope symbolizes the religious forces that historically took over the pagans of ancient Europe and forcibly converted them to the new faith. The pagans (i.e., the country dwellers and heathens) wouldn't give up their beliefs in the old gods and goddesses completely, holding onto traces of their old religion in secret, like the female slave holding onto the crescent moon symbol behind her back.

    • @aryahavinfun5682
      @aryahavinfun5682 5 лет назад +1

      Also, the Hierophant is enthroned in a very man-made environment, a cold one with little natural warmth and no undisciplined growth, a throne that denies the value of nature in order to enhance the power of discipline and even a repression of nature. Not all Christian believers are or were like that, but historically, many of them have been quite devoted to "mortification of the flesh" as a devotional activity.

      In the Strength card, the frogs and snakes are participating in the creation of the world myth of the Ancient Egyptians, (aka ZEP TEPI, the First Time), and the egg of creation (and the Creator God) is being hatched. The god can be Amun or Atum or Ptah, depending on which part of Egypt told the story.

      Thank you for this video, it's great fun to see someone tackling the symbols in this fabulous deck, as the book doesn't explain any of the artistic choices that were made.

      Yes! That's a great interpretation. I think you're right that the Hierophant in this deck is acting like 'Big Brother.'

    Most Tarot decks seem been there, done that to me, but your vid is interesting and now I want this deck. I don't agree with all the symbolism, but anything that thumbs the nose to the pretentious dogma of the Golden Dawn gets my vote. As revolutionary as Pamela Smith's art in the "Rider Waite" deck was, there were earlier Tarot Decks and earlier magical systems with other symbolism, so I cringe with anyone who says that something in the Tarot "traditionally" means this or that. The Chinese have Metal and Wood as additional "elements," etc. Human beings invent meanings and make associations. There is no God named "Tradition," that came up with anything. Horned God-Emperor is Cernunnos. Aries initiates, more like the Magician. The Emperor maintains his kingdom and 4 is earth, so more Bull-like. The Dorje/Vajra is a symbol of enlightenment, not political power, so not appropriate. Rune Pertho in Priestess can mean mystery but also chance and birth! It is tragic that the teachings of a profound mystic like Jesus could get so muddled but the Catholic Church has produced both mystics and self-righteous sociopaths. This Heirophant represents the latter. I like the interpretation below of the Woman hiding her moon symbol. Lovers: the X Gyfu rune represents the exchange of Gifts and marriage. Chariot: The Lotus is also a symbol of the True-Self rising out of the mud of the body and physical universe, sometimes compared to the rising sun. The Hermit is usually on a mountain peak, casting light down for those still climbing. This is analogous to your idea. He has found the keys and now leaves them around for others to find. The blindfolded monkey atop the Wheel of Changing fortune could also mean that someone who is currently "on top of the world" is blind to the fact that the wheel will turn. Thanks to you and insightful comments below!

    MODERN SPELLCASTER'S TAROT DECK. Truly this tarot card picture is very good. But unfortunately the paper materials are not so high quality, because it is too thin so that it easily causes scratches, folds, and even blisters easily. My Modern Spellcaster 1 card Ace of Swords is scratched and folded very easily, so it marks on the back of the card. It feels really hurt, because like my soul that was hurt.

    That is anEgyptian jackal...the god Anubis. Anubis guided the souls of the dead thru the underworld. You also missed the berryor pinecone on the left pillar of the high priestess and a ball on the right pillar.

    I love the way we see the High Priestesses two columns in the background of the Empress, so it makes me think that she must be the green baby! Also the two B's on the Hierophants throne made me think of Big Brother. Plus the Wheel of Fortune looks like the dharma wheel ... a nice addition, just like the Dorje above the Emperor, to have eastern symbolism in the deck! I'd love to hear your thoughts on the second part!

    With the High Priestess card, in most decks the equilateral cross represents the balance of the 4 elements. The Christian Cross has a longer vertical.
    Regarding the monkey in the Wheel of Fortune card ~ In Hinduism, A monkey named Hanuman is a symbol of strength and energy. Hanuman is worshipped for his selfless dedication to God.

    Does the creator explain why the swords/wands switch was done? I've always heard that swords is air because it's a cold and cutting weapon, because the intellect works by reducing problems down into multiple smaller nodes.
    Edit - Also, Magician looks like he's using a crypt as an altar - thought?

    • @ScarletRavenswood
      @ScarletRavenswood  6 лет назад +1

      Hi Nihl, the creator says she based it off a specific witchcraft tradition where the athame is associated with the fire element and the wand with air. I personally choose to associate the wands with fire and swords with air so I've found this deck a bit difficult to use when it comes to the minor arcana. And yes, it does look like the altar the Magician uses is a crypt. I'll have to do some more thinking on that. :)

    • @Nil_Echo
      @Nil_Echo 6 лет назад +2

      Hmmm....interesting! Just did a little wiki poking and found this -> "On the other hand, the athame stands as one of the four elemental tools in modern occultism, traditionally standing for fire, for witches, and air, for ceremonial magicians."
      Given that Golden Dawn is a ceremonial organization, I guess it makes sense to have the Tarot suits with those associations. Also, if you check the early Visconti-Sforza deck, the suit is quite clearly meant as "swords" rather than "daggers". Then again, I've always heard that Swords are supposed to be Solar weapons/tools. :\

    • @aryahavinfun5682
      @aryahavinfun5682 5 лет назад +7

      Some prefer Wands as air because trees wave their branches in air and create oxygen that enables other creatures to live. So life creating Air is the natural superpower of plants in general. In contrast, iron needs fire to be transformed into useful tools such as Swords and plowshares, and both of those will rust uselessly in the presence of moist air. Also, fire and blood go together in lots of myths. Air is more associated with thought, fire with passion. As for using a crypt as an altar, that's pretty common historically, even in churches, although most such altars no longer house corpses....makes more sense to just use the box as a storage cabinet for altar tools.

    In the chariot card there are the seven stars of the pleiades star cluster which has seven stars and is known as the seven sisters in some cultures , it is also the system of Taurus.
    See wiki.

    I don't know if that's just me but if you look very closely at the lovers card the one on the right doesn't look like a woman. The face looks masculine, almost having mustache and there is no visible breast. Rainbow might be there for a reason, as well as the fact that their faces are hidden - why would they be wearing hoods in a sunny day? Also in my deck that character has a completly white robe so it's interesting that it was supposed to be blue. Cool video btw, very helpful.
