This is so interesting. I love keywords and really appreciate this instruction. I watched twice!!! Now to me there is a definite correlation between numbers 1-10 of the Majors and the minors. 1=Magician=initiation, new beginnings. 2=priestess=duality, balance. 3=Empress=growth, creativity. 4=Emperor=structure, stability. 5=hierophant=struggle with confirmity, need for guidance.6=lovers=harmony. 7=chariot=decision, confidence. 8=strength=determination, progress. 9=hermit=knowledge, attainment. 10=wheel of fortune=one cycle ends and another begins.
I will make one critique on a single card: Temperence. Temperence, from what I've read and experienced, very often means Moderation. It's not about the Angel, it's about what they're doing. Balancing 2 wine cups, one foot in water, the other foot on land. A desert mountain path to one side, a lush field on the other. In my mind, the Angel represents the divine level of wisdom needed to Maintain the Moderation that embodies true Temperence. At least that's My take on the Temperence card.

My little cousin sadly was murdered he was a marine recruit. I saw in my mind it would be a few days before he was found. I got the star in my spread asking if he was alive. I knew he was within the universe. 21 years old. It's sad but we got some closure by finding him.

I'm 46 now but when I was 18 and did home readings my friends father who was Italian,lovely man..had a deck of tarot I'd never seen. They looked well used and he made me dip my hands in salt first before I shuffled. Are the round tarot older or an Italian make of tarot. Thanks if anyone on the thread knows too. The death card - interesting that you say the role of pope doesn’t die, but with the dead king the opposite is suggested. That is to say, it suggests that the role of the king does die, even though we commonly say “the king is dead; long live the king”, acknowledging the immortality of the monarch as an institution. Whereas we do not commonly say that for the pope. In fact when the king dies, the next in line is automatically the new king. When the pope dies, there is a period of sede vacante, empty chair - emptiness (the background of duality) - until the college of cardinals elect a new pope. My understanding is that what the king represents (knowledge) is fallible, mortal - but what the pope represents (spirit, religion, a life lived in communion with the great above) is immortal and untouchable by the hands of death. Because, precisely by living a spiritual life connected with the universe, death loses its meaning - it doesn’t symbolise a fall, rather it signifies ascension. I have thought that, if I could understand the Majors AS numbers, I could then connect them to the numbers of the Minor Arcana and here, you say the majors aren’t even connected to the numerological meanings! Right when I thought it was staring to make sense

As I watched this, I got the idea that the Fool and Magician are opposites. The Fool is young and inexperienced and doesn't know to question or to be cautious. He impulsively acts out of desire and excitement. The Magician is older and has experienced many things both good and bad... and consequently has the confidence and knowledge to make good decisions quickly. Am I seeing this right?

Variety and diversity of experiences develops good or 'right-use' (righteous) judgement. 20. Judgement: Resh - Resurrection The living dead are asleep. The alive are awake. Resurrection is waking up. What we wake up from is the cultural death trance of separateness. What we wake up to is the living interrelated unity of Life. 19. Sun : Quph - Inspiration The Sun is the 3rd eye or pineal gland, the Heart of the psyche, as the Moon is the pituitary gland, the Mind of the psyche, and Uranus is the thalamus, the Creative Will or intuition of the Psyche. When the Heart aspires, the Mind inquires and the Will conspires (combines). 18. Moon: Tsade -Twilight Twilight is the crack between the world's where a choice can be made. The temptation is to attempt to make it happen, whereas all Spiritual or inner development is attained by letting it happen, by not doing the carnal mandate. The dark side wants to make it happen. The Light side lets it happen, as in free fall - with Wu Wei = effortless effort. 17. Star: Pei - Sublimation Creativity, being the higher octave of sexuality, can transmute sexual impulses into creative aspiration. Orgasms, while pleasant, come and go in a minute (spending), while creative outcomes take on a life of their own - like children (investing). 16. The Tower: Ayin - Disruption Pride and self-pity are both forms self-importance that either forms or supports the development of the Chief Feature of false ego. We are limited to 7 to 9 variables, adrift in an infinite ocean of variables - a recipe for disaster- unless we are directly connected to a higher power beyond our limits. This is called sudden recognition of the terror of our situation. 15. The devil: Samech - adversary The devil is the Chief Feature of false ego, the adversary, the accuser, the hypercritical voice, the testor of claims and integrity/integration. 14. Temperance: Nun - Rhythm Wholeness is expressed dynamically as balance. Balance is rhythm. Life is a movement and a rest. The optimum (Heaven) is always found somewhere between the extremes of too much and too little (hell). 13. Death: Mem - Transition All we actually die to is our apparent limits. What appears as death, is in Reality a phase transition of Life Eternal, an evolutionary upgrade, process of self-regeneration. We can die daily to our conditioning, to open up new possibilities. We are an open ended possibility. 12. Hanged Man: Lamed - Reversal Freedom is a Way of Being. Being aware of being aware is the reversal or not doing of identification with the temporal, thereby revealing being aware of being aware as our true, Eternal nature or Way of Being. 11. Justice: Kuf - Compensation Examining self-limiting beliefs. Every self-limiting belief contains one or more false assumptions that can be questioned and challenged to reveal the false assumptions and thereby collapse identification with the belief. Examining the situations and circumstances of our Life, to discover how they reflect our inner state of Being. Sow wheat, harvest wheat - not potatoes. Sow well, harvest well. Sow poorly, harvest poorly Job had to discover the hard way, the Grace from above that makes works successful, and more importantly, makes them possible. 10. Wheel of Fortune: Yud - Discernment Discerning between what does does and does not work for us. Keeping what works and avoiding throwing the baby out with the bathwater. We are each as unique as our thumbprint, no one size fits all anything, only tailor made. Our uniqueness is our most important contribution to the global community. 9. Hermit: Teyt - Withdrawal When we become still and silent, withdrawn from the external world, the Spirit speaks Words of Wisdom and Understanding. The way up is down. Keep it simple. "Remember this - it takes very little to make a remarkably good Life." - Marcus Aurelius - Spiritualized Intellect (Moses) can only take us to the promised land of a creative fill in the blank to ponder. Only Aaron (Intuition) can take us into it to Revelation. 8. Strength: Chet -Taming - Taming the animal body with kind firmness that it may become an obedient companion. 7. Triumph: Zayin - Self-Mastery Self-observation : impartially observing negative reactive patterns , reactive self, as objects of observation generates inner distance from them. Self-remembering: being aware of being aware draws out the energy locked up in reactive patterns, returning it to essence. Without the energy stolen from essence, the negative reactive pattern collapses. 6. The Lovers: Vav - Indecision We tend to become infatuated or enamoured and identified with what we think we know, defending our assumptions, beliefs and interpretations against any that seem to contradict them until we land in one of a pair of opposites, sneering loudly at the other, stuck in contradiction. Too much contradiction leads to indecision. One cannot serve two masters. We either serve our lower carnal nature or our higher Spiritual, Creative nature. 5. Hierophant: Hei - the Learned The more we learn, the more we know, the more we need to practice 'beginner's mind' to keep learning more and to avoid becoming a know it all, one who knows the price of everything and the value of nothing. 4. The Emperor: Dalet - Soveirenty Leaving the past behind. Letting the dead (past) bury the dead, remaning grounded in the present. It is impossible to embrace the present or future with one's arms full of the past. The way things are is never the way they were. You cannot step into the same stream twice, nor go home to the world you knew. We stand with one foot in the known and the other in the unknown. The only resemblance of The present to the past is reactive patterns, which impose the past onto the present and future. Past = memory Present = perception Future = imagination These are the 3 threads that weave every experience. Every perception is to some extent memory. Every memory is to some extent imagination. If the resulting narrative needs to be changed, change perspective. Is it a limit or a creative guideline? No wrong answer, only a choice. 3. The Empress: Gimel - Knowledge, Understanding and Wisdom The 3 Forces that enter every manifestation: 1st Force = potential, aim 2nd Force = world, resistance 3rd Force = neutralizing resistance with skillful means to actualize potential and complete one's aim. The 3 phases of Continuum: 1. Innermost = Spirit = Creative Intelligence = Being aware of being aware = Presence 2. Midmost = Soul = Integrated Psyche - Heart, Mind and Will 3. Outermost = World body = metaphorical mirror reflection, biofeedback loop. We tend to reify perceptions into concepts, such as the perception of hotter and colder into the separate and opposite concepts of hot and cold, and never the twain shall meet, whereas in Reality they are complementary self-extensions that proceed from and return to meet in the middle of the Continuum we call 'temperature'. There is always some of each in the other, if only a molecule. Since to to seek Wisdom and Understanding is the wisest thing that one can do, Wisdom is the principle thing. Therefore, get Wisdom and with all thy getting, get Understanding. Reality = That which is. Knowledge = The portion of Reality that is known experientially. Understanding = Knowing how to apply knowledge. Wisdom = Competence in application of Understanding. Be not conformed to the pattern of this world, but be ye transformed by the renewing of your Mind. Single Eye Meditation: As the eye is a lamp unto the body, so is perspective to the Mind. Therefore, if your eye (perspective) on Life be single (all-inclusive), then your whole Being will be full of Life and the Light of Wisdom and Understanding.
I don't feel reversals are important to learn at all. I have never used them. I would say to first learn without reversals and then afterward add them to your readings if you choose to.
I'm working with tarot cards since more than 20 years now.. never stopping to learn new things about the cards..so thank you for this well explanations.. But I would like to hear you opinion: there are cards from Raider Wait the ' before tarot' and 'after tarot'. The meaning of the single cards differs sometimes so much comparing to the regular ones..I wanted to buy them but I'm fearing they will confuse me too much. Do you have experience with this tarot cards?
Hello new spirit, You will find many different interpretations from different decks. Ultimately only you will decide which meanings agree with you and which meanings do not. Don't worry about meanings. You can use any meanings you choose to use and with any decks you choose to use them with. Only you will really decide what the meanings are for each card. The death card - interesting that you say the role of pope doesn’t die, but with the dead king the opposite is suggested. That is to say, it suggests that the role of the king does die, even though we commonly say “the king is dead; long live the king”, acknowledging the immortality of the monarch as an institution. Whereas we do not commonly say that for the pope. In fact when the king dies, the next in line is automatically the new king. When the pope dies, there is a period of sede vacante, empty chair - emptiness (the background of duality) - until the college of cardinals elect a new pope.
My understanding is that what the king represents (knowledge) is fallible, mortal - but what the pope represents (spirit, religion, a life lived in communion with the great above) is immortal and untouchable by the hands of death. Because, precisely by living a spiritual life connected with the universe, death loses its meaning - it doesn’t symbolise a fall, rather it signifies ascension.

As I watched this, I got the idea that the Fool and Magician are opposites. The Fool is young and inexperienced and doesn't know to question or to be cautious. He impulsively acts out of desire and excitement. The Magician is older and has experienced many things both good and bad... and consequently has the confidence and knowledge to make good decisions quickly. Am I seeing this right?

We overcome our naivete by acquiring experiences that lead to Gnosis or Revelation. Initially these revelatory experiences are provided by the guide. Once we have acquired a taste or feel for how Gnosis works we can leave the guide or raft at the river and continue on our own, our experience having become our teacher, learning as we go. Variety and diversity of experiences develops good or 'right-use' (righteous) judgement.
20. Judgement: Resh - Resurrection
The living dead are asleep. The alive are awake. Resurrection is waking up. What we wake up from is the cultural death trance of separateness. What we wake up to is the living interrelated unity of Life.

The Sun is the 3rd eye or pineal gland, the Heart of the psyche, as the Moon is the pituitary gland, the Mind of the psyche, and Uranus is the thalamus, the Creative Will or intuition of the Psyche.

Freedom is a Way of Being. Being aware of being aware is the reversal or not doing of identification with the temporal, thereby revealing being aware of being aware as our true, Eternal nature or Way of Being.

Examining self-limiting beliefs. Every self-limiting belief contains one or more false assumptions that can be questioned and challenged to reveal the false assumptions and thereby collapse identification with the belief.
Examining the situations and circumstances of our Life, to discover how they reflect our inner state of Being.

Without the energy stolen from essence, the negative reactive pattern collapses.

We tend to become infatuated or enamoured and identified with what we think we know, defending our assumptions, beliefs and interpretations against any that seem to contradict them until we land in one of a pair of opposites, sneering loudly at the other, stuck in contradiction. Too much contradiction leads to indecision. One cannot serve two masters. We either serve our lower carnal nature or our higher Spiritual, Creative nature.
5. Hierophant: Hei - the Learned
The more we learn, the more we know, the more we need to practice 'beginner's mind' to keep learning more and to avoid becoming a know it all, one who knows the price of everything and the value of nothing.
4. The Emperor: Dalet - Soveirenty
Leaving the past behind. Letting the dead (past) bury the dead, remaning grounded in the present.
It is impossible to embrace the present or future with one's arms full of the past. The way things are is never the way they were. You cannot step into the same stream twice, nor go home to the world you knew. We stand with one foot in the known and the other in the unknown. The only resemblance of The present to the past is reactive patterns, which impose the past onto the present and future.
Past = memory
Present = perception
Future = imagination
These are the 3 threads that weave every experience.
Every perception is to some extent memory. Every memory is to some extent imagination. If the resulting narrative needs to be changed, change perspective. Is it a limit or a creative guideline? No wrong answer, only a choice.

The 3 Forces that enter every manifestation:
1st Force = potential, aim

We tend to reify perceptions into concepts, such as the perception of hotter and colder into the separate and opposite concepts of hot and cold, and never the twain shall meet, whereas in Reality they are complementary self-extensions that proceed from and return to meet in the middle of the Continuum we call 'temperature'. There is always some of each in the other, if only a molecule.
Since to to seek Wisdom and Understanding is the wisest thing that one can do, Wisdom is the principle thing. Therefore, get Wisdom and with all thy getting, get Understanding.
Reality = That which is.
Knowledge = The portion of Reality that is known experientially.
Understanding = Knowing how to apply knowledge.
Wisdom = Competence in application of Understanding.
Be not conformed to the pattern of this world, but be ye transformed by the renewing of your Mind.
Single Eye Meditation:
As the eye is a lamp unto the body, so is perspective to the Mind. Therefore, if your eye (perspective) on Life be single (all-inclusive), then your whole Being will be full of Life and the Light of Wisdom and Understanding.

How important is reading reversals? Is it recommended to first learn with or without them?
I don't feel reversals are important to learn at all. I have never used them. I would say to first learn without reversals and then afterward add them to your readings if you choose to.

The meaning of the single cards differs sometimes so much comparing to the regular ones..I wanted to buy them but I'm fearing they will confuse me too much. Hello new spirit, You will find many different interpretations from different decks. Ultimately only you will decide which meanings agree with you and which meanings do not. Don't worry about meanings. You can use any meanings you choose to use and with any decks you choose to use them with. Only you will really decide what the meanings are for each card.
