Prawn Saag | Prawn Curry With Spinach | Shrimps with Spinach

  • Recipe prepared using Prawns/Shrimps made as a curry with spices and then adding chopped fresh Spinach.
    This combination works well and is on every Indian/Bangladeshi restaurant menu.
    INGREDIENTS:
    Oil - 3 tbsp
    Prawns (I am using 7-8 medium sized prawns)
    Spinach
    1 Onion chopped
    4 Garlic cloves chopped
    Salt - 1 tsp
    Chilli Powder - 1.5 tsp
    Curry Powder - 1.5 tsp
    Turmeric Powder - 1/2 tsp
    Coriander Powder - 1 tsp
    PREPARATIONS:
    - Peel and wash the prawns
    - Wash the spinach and then chop them
    INSTRUCTIONS:
    - Pour 3 tbsp of oil in a small saucepan and let that heat up
    - Add the chopped onions and garlic
    - Add 1 tsp salt
    - Add some water
    Let that simmer for 5 mins
    grind the onion and garlic
    - Add the turmeric, chilli, curry and coriander powders
    Let that simmer for another 5 mins
    - Add the prawns
    Leave that for another 5 mins on low heat
    - Add the spinach
    If you cannot add all in one go, then add it in batches
    Let that cook for 5 more mins and add a little bit of water if you want
    Serve with rice
