42nd STREET, ‘The mother of all showbiz musicals’ (The Daily Telegraph) is the song and dance, American dream fable of Broadway. Broadway’s biggest show has arrived in London to rave reviews and nightly standing ovations, featuring the iconic songs 42nd Street, We’re In The Money, Lullaby of Broadway, Shuffle Off To Buffalo, Dames and I Only Have Eyes For You.
Young Peggy Sawyer is fresh off the bus from small-town America and just another face in the chorus line on Broadway’s newest show. But when the leading lady gets injured, Peggy might just have the shot at stardom she's always dreamed of…
Grammy Award winner Sheena Easton joins an all singing, high-kicking cast as Dorothy Brock with Tom Lister as Julian Marsh and Clare Halse as Peggy Sawyer.
Mark Bramble, co-author of the book for the original Broadway and West End productions of 42nd STREET and director of the 2001 Tony Award® winning revival, returns to direct the new West End production on London’s biggest stage, Theatre Royal Drury Lane.
i've seen so many productions of the show and this number "the audition" sends chills up my spine every time i see the show. they take the curtain up to half and all you see is the tap dancers feet and then the curtain goes all the way up....absolutely one of the best opening numbers in any show....ever
I first saw it at Drury Lane in around 1988. As the curtain rose, and I saw the feet tap dancing, I thought "I'm going to love every second of this", and I did 😊.
This show was absolutely incredible- each new clip I see makes me want to go back and watch it again! The dancing had me breathless from the moment the curtain went up at the start of the show!
Saw 42nd street few days ago at London drury lane and omg it was AMAZING , I will definitely watch it again.
American tap dancing priest
andrew mabs yes! Once is definitely not enough!
It looks pretty amazing!
andrew mabs ...so did I ... and I totally agree with you !
andrew mabs ....so did I ... and I totally agree with you !
I have seen so many West End/Broadway shows... I can confirm that this is THE best ever! Sublime, exceptional and the best-feel-good show
watch this so many times to remind myself what perfection is, truelly awsome😎
My mum&dad have just been to see 42nd street at the theatre Royal, Drury lane, they paid £88 a ticket and said they would go again, even if they added another 0 to the price of a ticket, it was 'THAT' good.... best show on the West End this season by miles....
Oh dear. Trying to show off how much mummy and daddy have. Idiot
@@ryanessex7978 Shut up Ryan. Dickhead.
I saw this in a pantomime in London when I was in year 9 I saw it with my friends and others that went on the trip
@@ryanessex7978 what being an ass looks like
Still my favorite musical - love tap and love the 20's! These folks are just so talented, gives ya chills!
It's set in 1933 you dumb bitch.
@@ryanessex7978 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Saw this show in London recently while on holiday with my wife and our two daughters. We were absolutely blown away with the whole experience, the singing, dancing, choreography, sets, costumes...so much so that we went back to see it a second time! From start to finish this is an amazing show.If you can, you must go see it!
I ADORE live stage performances! Especially musicals. Seeing greats like Julie Andrews, Robert Goulet, Rex Harrison, Barbra Streisand, Mary Martin, Ethel Merman, Michael Crawford, Joel Grey, Richard Burton, etc. up close and personal were experiences you never forget. For quite a few years they were out of fashion. Now musicals are back and the talent is growing. We have a new generation of fantastic artists that our children and grandchildren will be blessed to watch. ❤
How many dressers did they have in the lobby to help with that quick change? That was a quick ass change.
Mike Anderson You should see the quick change for Dames. It's at most 15 seconds- for the ladies.
Mike Anderson it was at the beginning when the girl in the gold dress was at the end of show
Her dress can rip away and then she throws a second piece to it that's how it works I believe and then for the company most of them have clothes under their actual clothes.
Saw this 30 years back in Sydney.....absolutely stunning.....cant wait for another show
Are you in the London, England area now? (April 2023). Bird College (a Performing Arts College), Sidcup, Kent giving performances of '42nd St' for their end of year productions, Fri 28 - Sat 29.
Young up and coming performers.
Such incredible dancers, I must see the show live one day!
I want the colourful tap shoes now all of them 😱😍
Just brilliant so good to watch
trying to successfully tap this number and make it look good is extremely difficult so props to the dancers because oml it's tough
All time favourite musical! Especially as a dancer I love it so much ❤️
This is amazing music, dancing and choreography!
Saw this last week. Absolutely sublime. Dazzling show.
Spectacular! I hope it is recorded and released to cinemas for special screenings a la NT Live!
I do like watching recorded live or broadcast live performances of shows and musicals at the Cinema, on DVD and Blu-Ray and on TV
I hope there will be an announcement of a recorded live performance of Half A Sixpence with Charlie Stemp and the current London cast for TV and DVD for Xmas this year before it closes on Saturday 2nd September soon or they might bring in cameras on the final night and do the filmed live performance either way you never know 😃😁
Schneefernerkopf It wouldn't be a national theatre screening as it's not been done by the national theatre
Schneefernerkopf is there a full version of film .the dancing is awesome
Schneefernerkopf watching this again☺ looking for great London palladium version
See this musical every time it comes to town.
I saw it last week for the 4th time! So much of the music is so familiar and so evocative.I'm addicted!
Thanks guys, it was a great pleasure to see you live!
Clare Halse you absolute star
I went to see this live when I was about 9 and I absolutely loved it
Been to London twice this year to see this show..............best feel good show EVER...........brilliant.
Brillant Show. Saw it in the 80ties and again last september. The dancing and performance is amazing. The kaleidoscopic Busby Berkeley effect in the show was wonderful. Fantastic feel good show.
Ok 😳😳😳this kept on getting more and more awesome.... and like I wanted to cry at the end😭🤩
Hi from America absolutely love this show!! Wow
I had the pleasure to see it at Drury Lane last year and it was superb
This is so amazing and fantastic to watch.
Hands down the best production!!!! I saw the recent one in London and loved, but they could not compete with this one. Still, it is 42nd Street!!!
from the very first second: top entertainment. Amazing those talents.
Fantastic- breathtaking xxx
I saw the 1980s West End production of this around the mid-1980s. A young Catherine Zeta-Jones was there and she was impressive. I remember the audience just kept clapping and clapping for all the show-stopping tap dances and tunes. But the one that remained with me the best was when they had a number where they dancers tap dance on wooden tubs on stage. As expected, the tubs produced a louder deeper sound which really just gave the number more emphasis. Wish can see that again.
Just been to see the show. One of the highlights of my life. 😄
Awesome!
This is what perfection looks like.
I hope it lives up to its name as the 'mother of all Musicals ' I worked Front house on the original production back in 1984 when I was in Drama school, and I'm 33 years older now, but remember it like yesterday....
Misssparkles so did I - I just saw this in the cinema and it brought back a lot of memories. We were a great FOH team on this :0)
Saw the film of this production at our local cinema. Only£10 what value . Just to think I watched the show along with Thousands all over the world all at the same time. Keep them coming.
Saw it today. It is a MUST-GO!
Amazing!
This is truly outstanding
I’ve seen this show in New Zealand amazing amazing show
My favorite musical 🎉
Clare Halse was just magnificent in this production. I saew it five times and every time she it up the stage.
Absolutely amazing xxx
I love tap, I'm dancing to a song from 42nd street at my next show, so cool to see people getting interested in it again :)
Did you see " The Broadway Melody of 1940" with Fred Astaire and Eleanor Powell?
I never saw the stage musical, but "We're In the Money" wasn't in the 1933 movie 42nd St (rather it was in "Gold Diggers of 1933"). In any case, I imagine songwriters Harry Warren and Al Dubin would have been surprised (and pleased) to know that this show would still be popular in the 21st century.
what can you say absolutel as some precision and grace😎
*I LOVE IT! ❤️*
Great, rich show. The best
Wondwrful show but nothing surpasses the first one!!!! 👏👏👏👏👏
Espectacular....son extraordinarios.
Saw this on Bway 1980.
I wish they had this type
God, that was amazing!!!👠🎩👠🎩
I N C R E D I B L E 😮🤩

In New York city, they drop the curtain. You only see the feet , best opening act ever!
Im shook. So gooooooood :o
How good is that!!!!!
Amazing
This song is used in Tokyo Disney Sea's show Hello New York!
この歌は東京ディズニーシーの
ハローニューヨークで使われてますよね!
Fantástico musical.
Someone explain to me how… 2:20 onwards as they come down the aisles, there’s the tapping sound from their shoes. But they’re on carpet?! how?
Amoo
I was just on 42nd St not that long ago. I didn't see anyone dancing. The closest thing was when my wife tripped on a crack in the sidewalk!
incredible! so talented. but how did they record them tapping on the carpet in the audience? is it dubbed?
I was wondering the exact same thing!
OMG. I have to perform this 😱
I'm so sad that this comes ouy of Drury Lane in just over 2 weeks ☹️ not only is one of the best West End shows ending, but it is being replaced in 2020 by FROZEN. Nothing against Frozen, but it's got big shoes to fill x
BRAAAAVOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!
Ruby Keeler.... still my favorite!!
I only came to this video when I heard the song on Warehouse 13.
Mi piace un sacco . = ❤
E ancora tantissimo. = ❤
Genius.
So few folk have even heard of Harry Warren.
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Why can't you buy the show on DVD?
Wow, what a amazing show, well worth the £75, probably the best show on in the west end this year, knocks spots off of Kinky Boots, which I found quite boring.
Did 42nd Street at my school this year, I looked at this and thought “Jesus we could’ve done better.”
My dance teacher was in that.
480p ... Why isn't this in HD or 4K 3840- 2160p ?
1:04 how. Just how
Entertainment in school
oui, je suis partout en afrique? :)
Goood😍😍
Who's here after watching warehouse 13
I like it
I like it = ❤
Doing an amateur production of this show it’s so hard lmao
Which musical score are they using for this? Amazing
Amanda Rogers Errr its 42nd Street. The clue’s in the name!
Cleaver Patterson it might be however this is a different version musically to that of the actual stage version that’s what I was asking!
This reminds me of years ago when white shoes were the rage. I had shoes dyed to make all the colors I wore. And yes I had shoes!
Did anyone see Sheena Easton in it?
oui, je parle francais, je parle anglais, je parle japonais, oui, je parle en,,,,, :)
what song is this?
