The rhythm changes as they go into the "pas de deux" section into the absolutely gorgeous swing group part will forever be one of my favorite dance sequences in musical theatre This is brilliant
Fabulous fabulous fabulous. Saw this on the 2nd row and have never seen anything like this before. Now I can sit and watch it all over again as I have just received the DVD from America. What an experience.
I've been a theatre-goer for over 20 years now. Back in the good old days [before the Covid pandemic] I had money to burn and easy access to London's West End. I would see up to 50+ shows per year. That's one show per week on average so it's not as much as it sounds. Just when I was starting to feel jaded, this show happened. I went in with tempered expectations but the performance was faultless. Out of this world. And I mean that literally. I felt like I had stepped into a parallel universe. The production quality was extremely high, far beyond anything I could have imagined. I've seen major productions sinking like the Titanic. They were too massive to operate smoothly, too expensive to survive for long, or just poorly directed or miscast [weak actors in the leading roles]. But this show was different. It was a roaring success. Everything worked like a charm. The music, the performers, the choreography, the set design, the costumes. I'm very good at spotting mistakes on stage [one of the drawbacks of being a theatre junkie] but I didn't notice anything "wrong" or "off" with this show. I saw it 3 times just to make sure the quality was solid. Whoever was running this show on Drury Lane was running a tight ship. I hope they didn't keelhaul the dancers who accidentally stepped out of line. LOL
Saw this 6 times. The first one from the first row. And baby... this is the place to enjoy it. The staircase scene from the first row worth every penny!
Everyone in this voice class I was in a while ago had to learn the beginning part of this song so it's cool to see how the whole thing is staged with all the dancing
Interesting. I’ve seen this twice before in different productions, and in one Billy’s character was shot, while in the other Peggy’s character was shot.
Hi yes it’s part of the show or they stab either one the beginning of the ballet you see the guy all in black. The guy runs that’s why the gun goes off
@@jackdonohue7893 what I liked about him was his charm and stage presence, then he’d start to sing; Hey There! You With The Stars In Your Eyes, and I was transported. I also especially love Cole Porter musicals and those by Rogers and Hart, as you may have guessed.
@@jackdonohue7893 by the way…do you like the musicals from the 40’s? If you do, there’s a great orchestra called The Piccadilly Dance Orchestra who performs all the songs from this era.
I will never forget the brilliance and glamour of watching this show live, twice. I was blown away by it.
This production has the best dancing I have ever seen!

Faultless TV coverage of a faultless production. Just wonderful on Blu-Ray.
Just try to imagine what is happening backstage from about 6:50-8:05! 😅

たいへん残念です…ヒアルロン酸ではなおせません…🐱🐱
Not for me….nasal singing is not to me taste but the dancing is fantastic.
What kind of musical singing do you enjoy?
@@jackdonohue7893 well, I loved Julie Andrew’s and (I’m going back a bit) Edmund Hockridge. I also loved Top Hat when it was in the west end.
@@jenniferbate9682 i haven’t listened to Edmund Hockridge in so long! Thank you for reminding me of him!
