Oh My G-d!! Splendid musical production. Carol can hoof with the best. This number was so joyous and professional. Nanette Fabray is so funny. Carol can do it all!!
A fabulous tribute to 42nd Street. The opening of the box at 23:30 is a real homage to *Busby Berkeley,* who choreographed many of these shows and liked the surprise of putting people inside little objects like this! 😮😂
This was... actually a lovely tribute to Berkeley! Saw the 42nd Street musical some years ago in London and there was something crunchy missing of the 30s mood that this still has, going all the way for the tacky without being sarcastic or ironic. I love it.
Just saw this on Pluto TV's Carol Burnett channel today and had to check it out again because I missed the first half. What a production for this variety show ... choreography, tapping, costumes, hilarious sound effects and jokes, and such a grand tribute to Busby Berkley and the 1930s/1940s musical movies. You can tell Carol adored this stuff, and had fond memories of seeing these kinds of films in her youth. I'm going to save this video in my bookmarks.
Let's see : Harvey Korman was Warner Baxter, Carol Burnett was Ruby Keeler, Nanette Fabray was Bebe Daniels, Vicki Lawrence looked like Una Merkel but her personality was closer to Ginger Rogers, Mel Torme was Dick Powell.Carol's first song was a parody of "Shanghai Lil"
Yes! It takes a long time because I put it through 60fps and a 1977 filter so it takes awhile. So I try to do a sketch at a time. I screen record DVD from laptop which is wmv and have to convert to MP4 for my video editor. LOL. Takes a minute. I want the quality to look good.
oh. gotcha. yes it does indeed turn out good! well... i am also a nanette fabray fan so let me know if you have slash upload any more clips with her in it, please!? :)
Mel Torme omg what a treat! I recognized his face but couldn’t place him til he started singing. love this awwww
Wow! What a show that was. They don't make it like this nowadays.. Thank you Carol Burnett ♡
Carol is a huge fan of movie dancers. A few years ago she told a magazine that she still dreamed of hoofing like Eleanor Powell.

The female corp dancers all coming out in their underthings was adorable. The male corp dancers coming out in their underthings was hilarious! :)
Incredibly talented and so full of joy ❤

No one can do it like Carol Burnett!!
For those familiar with the Broadway Show 42 Street this is spoofing the MOVIE as the successful 42 Street did not debut on Broadway until 1980
And I'm betting this particular number is a tribute/parody of "Shang-Hi Lil" from "Footlight Parade": ruclips.net/video/TUR0fInGhu0/видео.html
