Holly Molly! I love how Liza is just.. natural with all that jazz she’s doing! All her moves are so smooth and perfect that you can't take your eyes off her!
I will probably swim against the current saying that Goldie doesn't look natural. She is too fragile and dainty for singing such stuff. Liza is perfect.
Judy was brought up to be a workhorse, meaning she did whatever the studios told her to do. She would have flown a rocket to space if she had to. Judy got her skills from years of work. Judy wanted to Liza to have more technique at her disposal than she had so she sent Liza to all the best teachers she could. If Judy Garland was the best working performer than Liza was the student performer.
Whew....thank you for posting this. I get criticized on here about being overly critical but I thought the same thing. Liza truly at the height of her performing (saw her live in the early 80s and she was like an electric jolt that shocked the audience). Goldie does an admirable job here but definitely out of her league, many times seemingly a half beat behind and/or struggling to keep up. -- Now, do we know who did the choreography (Ron Fields?) because I have some thoughts on it, too. :)
